Lively and very good Mexican food. Very loud and buzzy. Good for a group, less good for a couple who might want to talk to one another!
Service was great. Food/Drinks were excellent. Very vibrant and lively scene!
Excellent gaucamole and also chips and salsa - fantastic!
Casual Dining for Mexican fare. The tequila selections and maragaritas are the highlight.
The Soho Location of Dos Caminos offers the opportunity to eat outdoors in a controlled environment. This is something rare in Manhattan where sidewalk dining mingles the food with the environment of the city. It often includes: noise from subways running underground, bus fumes, people arguing on the sidewalk and even the occasional street urchin engaging you while dining. The outdoor patio at DC-Soho is enclosed with a nice fence that allows you to fully focus on the dining experience without worrying about the environs intruding.
That being said, tables are in close proximity to each other and you may partake in conversations that you may not wish to be a part of. The food is typical DC; good and predictable.
The food and the drinks were fantastic. Our server, Colby, was very personable and made the experience very enjoyable by recommending his favorites and chatting with us before ordering. Don't miss the guacamole!
seems to have changed staff from a year or two ago still crowded but service and fodd going downhill
Great Mexican food overall! I think I prefer the location of the Meat Packing restaurant just because the patio is in a much nicer setting. The patio in Soho is cramped and right next to a busy street with no ambience at all.
Amazing food, amazing service. Would definitely recommend!
Dos Caminos was great. My husband and I enjoyed our Soho experience. The gucamole was amazing and lived up to its hype of being the best in town. The service was amazing and ambiance was great. The food was good, if your looking for authentic mexican resturant.
Food was terrific, but we could have made a meal of the Guac and margarittas alone. Will certainly be back.
I had dinner at Dos Caminos for my 26th birthday and found the experience to be really enjoyable. My boyfriend and I arrived 20 minutes past our reservation but the hostess was very gracious and accommodating. We sat outdoors and had a very sweet waitress take our orders. I had the chicken tacos and my boyfriend ordered guacamole, and the chicken fajitas. The food was delicious and plentiful. We even had two small drinks brought to our table, compliments of the chef. The atmosphere was pleasant and the crowd was mixed, ranging from conservative families to trendy hipsters. The only negative thing we encountered was our table being uneven and wobbling a bit but we forgot about it as we ate and drank. I will definitely be returning again :)
Our drinks and appetizers were great. Our server was new and awesome!
I love Dos Caminos and I especially love Dos Caminos SOHO.. Is it the best Mexican food I've ever eaten? No.. but by far not the worst. It was the quick, courteous and attentive service that would make me choose it again the next time I'm in the mood for it.
I always wanted to go to Dos Caminos and finally made it this weekend. The food was good the trio-tasting Of all ceviches was my favorite. Im a margarita lover so I had the prickly pear cactus margarita it was very YUMMY. I would definitely go again and recommend this restaurant to my friends.
I have been to Dos Caminos many times but haven't been back in a few years. I was so excited that nothing had changed. The services was great and the food was great! Thanks.
The only saving grace is the guacamole.
Excellent brunch lunch spot in SoHo. Really enjoyed the complimentary frozen margharita that comes with each brunch choice. My salmon/eggs hollandaise were excellent. Others in our party enjoyed their quesedillas, we also loved the kids "build your own tacos" choice. Our waitress was very attentive without rushing us. The outside is a little close to a busy road but well screened from the street. It was just too humid to sit out on the day we were there
Great margaritas, but guacamole has gone downhill and now is served in plastic bowls. Definitely a tourist spot.
Fun Mexican restaurant with above-standard quality food at pretty reasonable prices. Very busy and a little crazy at times, but the wait staff always aims to please! added plus is that it's just a few blocks away from the Angelika Movie theater, which makes it very convenient for us!
The food here isn't the best but I always enjoy their guacamole and margaritas!
Great neighbor, great look and feel, great food...service was a little shaky. It wasnt bad by any means just wasnt great. They kept asking us if we had more food and bringing by more plates but none of it was ours. Very odd...
The food is typically good here, even though it is a chain.
The outdoor patio on a warm night makes this a place to go.
Went to Dos Caminos Soho for lunch. Took advantage the NY restaurant week prix fixe 3 course meal, but it was much too much food for a lunch. The waiter was excellent and packed up all the food that my party could not finish. The guacamole is to die for, would highly recommend getting an order...but be careful or you might fill up on chips & guacamole! It is enough for a nice light lunch.
Food was good but nothing special. Waitress brought water and forgot about us for a long while. Cocktail--$14--was ok. Tab came to $50/head for appetizer and entree--way too expensive for Mexican food.
The Guacamole was amazing, I was almost too full to for dinner. Dinning room was a bit loud, but the outdoor seating was closed due to heavy rain so that explains the large crowd. Waitstaff were very attentive even with a full house.
The gazpacho was delectable and the guacamole outrageous. A friend had the scallops which were delicious and one of us had the stuffed steak with beans and rice. I had the fish from the restaurant week menu. Desserts were fine. All of the food was excellent and we would definitely return for the wonderful Mexican food.
The food and service were great. I will definitely be going back and bringing my friends.
My lunch date & I were very excited about restaurant week at Dos Caminos. We have previously dined at the Meatpacking location for a birthday about a year ago. The difference between the two was immense. The food at the SoHo location was definitely not up to par. The bread on the sandwich was stale and the grouper bland. While we thought the restaurant week specials were a great deal for food we had enjoyed in the past, we ended up being quite disappointed. With so many great lunch spots in Manhattan we will not be returning to Dos Caminos anytime soon.
The food is excellent! The Managers are GREAT and the servers are wonderful.Everything about this location is charming.
I went with 2 girlfriends and it was a great spot to sit, enjoy, and have fun. We went for restaurant week so we chose the fixed menu which was delicious but I do wish I could have tried their chips and guacamole. The outside seemed like a great spot, but we were inside, which was a great atmosphere with fun decor, so I cannot say for certain. I will defiantly be going back and hopefully will try some of the other locations.
Delicious food, great drinks. Friendly and welcoming. Worth a repeat visit.
Always aim to please - like bending over backwards - they have some of the best mexican food in manhattan and some really tasty drinks.
Our waiter was outstanding! Food and service were great!
the best guacamole and the blood orange frozen margaritas were very satisfying on a hot summer day!
Was a receommendation, however the selection was limited. Food was good but a bit over priced.
Wonderful Mexican dishes in a lively environment. Great margaritas!
Dos Camino's is a great spot to hang out with friends and catch up. That's what I did there on Monday night. We had a wonderful waitress who let us sit and talk, kept refilling our drinks and checking on us. She made some great recommendations on the Sangria and the appetizers and it makes me nuts that I can't remember her name. The Sangria at Dos Caminos is delicious. I had the Rose and my girlfriend had the red. The guacamole is delicious and they will make it any way you want it. I always like it spicy with a lot of cilantro and that's what I got...yum. We also had the watermelon salad which was amazing and the fish tacos too. All good. No complaints at all, I would go back again and pretty sure I would.
Great mexican food! the guac is amazing as are the margaritas. A little pricy but worth it in my opinion. service was good both times ive been both with a large and small group.
The open faced shrimp quesadilla was very good. The sweet plaintains were a nice side. The prickly pear marjaritas were great, so good I went back the next evening for more.
