Dos Caminos - Park Ratings and Reviews
I met with a group of friends for dinner and it started well. The guacamole and salsas were good, the trio of ceviche was disappointing. Our entrees were good, lots of taco choices. We decided to share a dessert and put the order in. 20 minutes later, the manager came over and told us they “literally just ran out”. This information was have been useful 20 minutes earlier. She did offer us a dessert on the house but by that time, we were ready to go so we asked for the check. It took a little bit to get the check and after another 10 minutes I finally waved down our waitress. She came back with the cards but she had rung incorrect amounts. We sent them back again and they came back wrong again. Finally on the third try, we were set to go. It just seemed as if once we got our entrees, no one cared what we needed. Not a great way to end the night and a lack of concern left us not caring to ever go again.
I've been to dos caminos many times before and I have to say after today's experience I will not be returning. After ordering the bottomless brunch option we were told everyone at the table had to order the bottomless brunch, I have never encountered that, in fact I have brought a pregnant friend here for brunch in the past and now I wonder if she would have been forced to order the bottomless option since I had ordered it when we had previously been there. This is a silly policy that is not stated any where on the menu, but putting that aside let's move on to when my friend ordered soup which did not come with a spoon so we asked for one and she waited about 15 minutes for a spoon at which point the soup was ice cold and she sent it back. The soup was still on the bill which we then had to send back and wait for the new bill. The server was preparing to go on her break, which is understandable but it appeared she wanted our table out. All in all it was a bad experience and I won't be going back which is disappointing because I have enjoyed brunch here before but as a paying customer to be treated so poorly is unacceptable.
The menu features interesting takes on Mexican cuisine. The large space of the restaurant is decorated with dramatic notes which harmonizes nicely with the meal. We were dining lunchtime and we were able to have good conversation so the restaurant noise level was festive but not mind numbing. We will definitely be back.
Food was okay at best. Our waiter had a rough night, which wasn't helped by the tires kids with us. Dinner took far longer than we had expected, at over 90 minutes. However, the manager attempted to make things right I they deserve credit for realizing that there was a problem to begin with.
The service was good and our waiter attentive. Unfortunately the food was So/So. My taquitos were quite cold to the touch and when they brought them back to me, it was two extra crispy taquitos tossed on a plate.
The best part of my meal? Mexican Street Corn.
The hostess & server was friendly, however we did not get our food as ordered... ie I asked for chicken tacos with No beans- beans were in the tacos. We ordered mac & chorizo, we received extra rice instead. It wasn’t worth complaining about because we were on a time crunch, but they removed the mac & chorizo from the bill as we obviously didn’t recieve it. Food was not that good.. ambiance not as nice as the photos. Would not return.
Very upset at what happened last night. We were seated at 6:25pm for a 6:30pm reservation. As of 6:35pm we hadn’t been visited by a server - not even our water glasses were filled. Had to get up and speak with the co-hostess (the same woman who sat us) - telling her we hadn’t been seen. At 6:45pm we got up and began walking out. Stop by the Hostess stand to tell the main Hostess about our experience - and was immediately met with attitude. She said she wasn’t aware of our situation.
On average the service is so-so at best, but last night was horrible.
Please don’t blame the holidays or being short-staffed.
Food here is very good, but the service was really inattentive and just bad. Uninterested waitress who kept us waiting a long time and acted like she was doing us a favor by bringing our drinks. Sat with chips and no guacamole for 15 minutes, and entrees came out 2 minutes after the guacamole came out, leaving us to scarf down our appetizer to make room for the entrees before they got cold. Unacceptable.
Very busy. Our server was very pleasant but had too much going on. She had too many tables and the bar was overwhelmed so some drinks never made it to us. It was fine bc they never made it on the bill either so we didn't have to have additional conversations. Overall vibe in the place was great despite the rush.
Lady at the podium who was working on seating and arranging tables was not very pleasant. Borderline snobby/had an attitude.
This was my 2nd time and it was not good. It was my husband’s birthday , I made a note on the reservation to have dessert , that was not communicated to my server, so we never received it. I even verified that my note was received when they called to confirm my reservation.I ordered the fish tacos, they had zero taste, I could taste the burn from the grill on the fish. There was no seasoning or anything. My husband’s food was not great either. I sent an email to the customer service email provided on the website, I never received a response. It is safe to say that I will not be returning.
7.30 the place was on the quiet side and slow moving. The menu hasn't changed since I was last there 10 years ago. For a Thursday night I was surprised the bar was empty. A few scattered tables , mixed crowd. Before getting the lackluster food I thought it was "ok" then they turned up the music load enough so you could not hear yourself talk. We asked the waiter if they could turn it down a little which they did to a reasonable level. Wasn't terrible by any means but I have crossed it off my list.
Dos Caminos was alright. Who doesn’t like Mexican food? But the service was poor and the server did not remember the allergy specifications I had said. In the past, Dos Caminos was great about that. The hostess was unpleasant and made us feel unwelcome, which was a shame because we wanted it to be a great experience.
Went to Dos Caminos - Gramercy Park on a Saturday night to celebrate our son's birthday. Overall a good experience. - not out of this world by any stretch. Food and ambience were Ok - our server was excellent. Table side Guacamole was very good. Cerviche was really small portion and not very good. Entrees (skirt steak and mahi mahi) above average . Definitely a bit over priced for basic Mexican fare but this is to be expected in the city.
Last minute jaunt after a conference and a desire for some Mexican and a good Margarita. This was a great find that was walking distance from the event. The atmosphere was fantastic, drinks were potent and the food was very good. Great bar scene and good music in a lively atmosphere made for the perfect night.
