Dos Caminos - Park Ratings and Reviews
Dos Caminos was alright. Who doesn’t like Mexican food? But the service was poor and the server did not remember the allergy specifications I had said. In the past, Dos Caminos was great about that. The hostess was unpleasant and made us feel unwelcome, which was a shame because we wanted it to be a great experience.
Went to Dos Caminos - Gramercy Park on a Saturday night to celebrate our son's birthday. Overall a good experience. - not out of this world by any stretch. Food and ambience were Ok - our server was excellent. Table side Guacamole was very good. Cerviche was really small portion and not very good. Entrees (skirt steak and mahi mahi) above average . Definitely a bit over priced for basic Mexican fare but this is to be expected in the city.
We had a table for 2 booked for 8pm but arrived approx 30 mins early, it was no problem for the staff who had us seated within 5 mins. Food was so good, had to wait a while before our drinks arrived and food order was taken. We ordered guacamole n chips for starters and had just enjoying these when we were told our food was delayed. We had no issues with this but we were given 2 free frozen margaritas as an apology. As it turned out the food came out just after the waiter left the table. The food was delicious, really tasty. I've already recommended this restaurant to a friend visiting new york in November.
Dos Caminos is always a favorite place to meet friends either for just lunch or special gathering. The food is tasty and never disappoints.
I have been coming to Dos Caminos for years in the past probably every other week for lunch with a coworker. When I changed jobs, there was none available in that location so when I visit that coworker I always try and meet here for lunch.
My husband and I love Dos Caminos - it's our go-to Mexican restaurant! The food and service are consistently outstanding. I especially love the naked veggie tacos and my husband often orders the sizzling steak but replaces the steak with chicken. The staff always accommodates him. And their guacamole is SO DELICIOUS!!!'
Just one word of caution.Recently I had to switch to an all gluten free diet and assumed their tortilla chips with the guacamole were corn. I asked after eating two and found out they are wheat but they have corn chips they can bring out. Just let them know in advance if you are gluten free!
I've gone to Dos Camino a number of time and have never been disappointed! If you go , I would recommend getting the short ribs with Mexican risotto. For drinks, I've taken a liking to their grilled grapefruit margaritas. They also have a good number of mezcals you can pick from if you want something authentic.
Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. Despite it being right on Park Ave S the items were relatively affordable. I went during Restaurant Week but found the deals on the regular menu much better.
I ordered the asada naked. It came in a bowl with beans, corn, guacamole and a really tasty sauce. I also ordered a Blood Orange Mule. It was okay, they could've been lighter on the lime juice.
Overall I had a great experience and would come again.
I booked Dos Caminos for the first portion of my best friend's bachelorette dinner. The guacamole was great and they bring out super fresh chips and salsa. I had the mahi tacos which were delicious and the others ordered chicken tacos, which they said were good but very spicy. My only complaint was that they brought out 1 tiny 3oz portion of rice and beans "for the table"- there were 5 of us eating, hook up the rice and beans!
This restaurant chain has a good reputation and the other outlets do a much better job. Not sure what is going on with this location but they need to step it up. We won't be returning here and the poor execution of our meal would make us hesitate to go to one of the other restaurants. I don't typically write unfavorable reviews b/c I don't like making it harder for businesses. However, this restaurant is a chain and it needs to step it up.
Very nice ambiance, well lit but not overwhelmingly bright. Decor is very nice, chairs were comfortable. The food is authentic Mexican. Although I would have liked more choices for my entree what I did eat was delicious. My friend had a dish with mole and having had it in Mexico, acclaimed it to be one of the best he's ever tried. Overall I would recommend this restaurant.
Surprisingly good experience. David was terrific in his recommendations. He went out of his way to accommodate our request for a special dessert. Please let him know we appreciated his attention. Being a Landry cardholder and receiving points and Rewards is definitely beneficial. Thanks.
Dos Caminos offers very fun vibes for a girls night out. Wish the portions were bigger, especially considering the prices, but it is good food. I ordered the pollo tacos and they were very yummy- small but there were 3. Friends ordered the caesar salad which was super small and plain. Guacamole is awesome and drinks strong. Would go back because they can seat large parties but not my go to Mexican restaurant.
The decor was quite nice, lively and fresh and a big open space in the dining area. Our server was friendly and polished, but seemed to be on auto pilot. He lost a few details on our order along the way (e.g., we got the wrong type of guac, all of our food came at once vs. staggered), and often ran by to check on us but was going to fast he didn't actually stop to take any requests. The food was presented nicely, but it wasn't all that authentic nor interesting of an interpretation. We ordered everything "medium" for spice and wished we asked for "hot" (it was no where near spicy). Overall the food was OK but there was no stand out delish item among the guac, ceviche sampler, squid, and other dishes. The cocktails were OK but not so great that we ordered more than one each. The hubby and I are foodies, love craft cocktails, adore Mexican food, and are New Yorkers that dine out regularly. So we aren't easily impressed, and this place certainly did not impress. That said, this place is a great option if you have a group, need a lot of seating, and want some safe (not too adventurous) menu options.
