Dos Caminos – Meatpacking

Incredibly disappointed. We went for the 2 vegan cheeses clearly listed on the menu as an option for the vegetable taco. 2/4 guests ordered the vegan taco- but no one told us they were out of the cheeses until the orders came and we had to ask. The vegan naked taco was insanely small and disappointing for $17 ( I would have ordered a much larger salad for a similar price had I been informed they didn't have the cheeses) and they brought a non vegan rice/beans for the "table" for the other vegan taco order- we had to point out that she needed a vegan beans/rice option which was apparently a brand new idea. It took at least 20 minutes to be greeted (in a small setting) by the server, and she was always hard to find and took a very long time to ever make it around to our table (that was full of young ladies drinking). When I ordered a flight- she just dropped off the alcohol- no salt/limes to go with the shots which are clearly listed on the menu and a requirement for tequila shots- had to ask the manager for this. The guac was SO plain, I've been to many great Mexican places that make the guac in front of you- this was fresh but lacked any flavor or ingredients at all but was the most expensive 1 avocado guac I've ever gotten. Really disappointing experience. Even though the manager came over to apologize, nothing was comped - we were out a lot of money for a little bit of food that all left us hanging. Would not go back.
Stumbled upon this gem. Very nice atmosphere and checked out the spot to find out that there's a club in the lower level...if you dine, it's free and it was jumping/pumping!! Wanna come back to experience this as a group for maybe a birthday celebration.
Felt like sitting at an airport Chili's. Food wasn't particularly good either. So yeah, like Chili's.
Food is always good. The wait staff is very professional. Never get rushed out.
Love LOVE LOVE! If you ever go to the Whitney this is where you need to eat. Last minute reservations on a rainy day after the museum, walked in right to our table on a busy day. ( Thank god for Open Table) Had a really nice dinner with the nicest waitress and the PASSION FRUIT MARGARITA you can not go wrong ! The food is always amazing , but the guacamole while waiting is the best add too order. If you are feeling Mexican food this is the spot, also as a pescatarian there are many fish dishes , the salmon was GREAT! would totally recommend!
The food was great! Small portions though for the price. Margarita was good. The service could have been faster/more attentive, but we did dine on New Year’s Eve before going to a club in the neighborhood , so they may have been busier than usual.
It was a less than par experience but it was New Year’s Eve so I think it was an understandable outlier in my Dos Caminos experiences
Catena famosa di ristoranti messicani, i piatti hanno poco del vero messicano, i prezzi altrettanto. Per una cena normale si spendono circa 90$ (mancia compresa)
Long time customers of Dos but this time it wasn't so great. They seemed to be severely understaffed. took 20 min to get our first drink, 30 for the quac and didn't even get the one we ordered (w bacon)...
Waiter was nice- but it was super busy and they had 2 servers...
The music was WWAAAYYY to loud- but then again - I could be becoming my mom and getting old. The hostess lowered it a bit after I asked..
Chicken was overcooked and the service was not great. Dinner came before our first round of drinks
Went for dinner with family from out of town & had a delicious dinner! I’ve been to the other locations but not this one & found out that it’s not only a fun restaurant but the spacious lower level is great for drinks & late night with a bar, mini “caves” to reserve for parties, & room to dance. I’ll be going back with friends!
Was staying across the street at Soho House with two young children and a friend. Popped over at 6:30 in the evening on a Friday - there seemed to be a couple of young families enjoying this casual Mexican restaurant. Great “kids” menu and excellent margarita options for the parents.
The children pronounced this dinner to be their best ever meal in NYC! Adults enjoyed the spicy guacamole and tacos, too. Win- win dinner choice for us.
Great atmosphere friendly staff, plenty of meal choices, house margaritas were top notch, enjoyed the cricket appetizer
It’s ok, not the best food but it’ll do
The waiter was terrible, he was a sweaty mess and spit when he talked. It was so gross that we lost our appetite. It felt like I was dining at a Fridays.
After reading mixed reviews about this restaurant I was a little skeptical about going there. However, I had a great experience there. The staff members were very friendly, the food was delicious (I had the fish tacos) and a regular margarita that was also delicious! I would definitely go there again when in the area.
Yesterday I introduced my husband to Dos Caminos after telling him about it for years. We live in Chicago and spent the weekend in NYC celebrating our anniversary. Although we have no shortage of phenomenal Mexican restaurants and taquerias in Chicago (hello, Rick Bayless!) Dos Caminos remains one of my favorites and is always a must when I'm in New York. As always, our food, service, and cocktails were out of this world. We have decided to make it an annual tradition to celebrate our anniversary in New York going forward, and Dos Caminos will *always* be a part of that celebration!
Our service was absolutely horrible. One of the meals was completely wrong, we constantly had empty water glasses and I choose the bottomless option and was brought three drinks in 2 entire hours. If you want a bottomless brunch worth the value or even just want to have a sip of water during your meal, avoid this restaurant at all costs. Definitely a disappointment as we had friends from out of town visiting and heard this was a good brunch for a crowd (7).
Service was awful. Waiter dropped food in my water glass, acknowledged it, and then left it on the table for remainder of our lunch. I finally asked someone else to take it.
Food came, fajitas - brought corn instead of flour. I asked for flour - they never came. And he ignored us the whole time so we couldn’t even ask him. On top of that. The food was overly burned, dry, and crusted to the fajita plate. The peppers were black they were so overly burned. Absolutely disgusting.
Amazing service and ambiance! Love this place!
Overall a general positive experience, very accommodating as I was 10 minutes late and they were fine with this. Our server was very positive and attentive. Great bottomless options!
Terrible service! We had to ask for service throughout the entire meal. Took 20 mins to serve a bottle of wine and that's after asking 3 times.
Excellent food and drinks, superb, warm service and great party vibe make this a perfect spot for a date, meeting or a girls night out.
Glassware was dirty, service was spotty at best, wait time for food after being ordered exceeded an hour, and food was lukewarm at arrival. Will not revisit.
Service was not great. Food was just ok.
I will not be returning
They offer a bottomless brunch, but the service for drinks is incredibly slow. They charge $17 for a one-avocado based guacamole. I was not impressed.
Great brunch. Friendly staff. Always a good time.
The service was disappointing. We requested an order of chips and salsa which finally arrived when our main entree arrived. We specifically requested the chips and sauce for appetizers. The waiter had to be flagged down several times so that we could remind him of our order. The waiter came by our table once to ask if ‘we were ok’. We received the incorrect/miscalculated bill for the table. I usually frequent the SoHo location and I was introduced to the Meatpacking location by my friend. I loved the atmosphere but did not appreciate the lacking service.
Good service. Food very good - Mexican accented. Mole short ribs was excellent. All 4 of us enjoyed our meals. Up beat and fun atmosphere.
Wasn’t great and food wasn’t great. They messed up our order 2x and it was cold and unappealing when they finally brought it correctly.
Just not a great experience overall as it was hard to even get water and our glasses were filthy!
I wouldn’t recommend. Hate to say it but it’s true.
It has been a couple of years since I have been there and I would not return based on this experience. I had always enjoyed the meals, found the service strong, and thought the price was worth it for the experience. This time was not. While our server was kind and funny, twenty to thirty minutes went by between ordering drinks, receiving them, and ordering the meal. We could not get more drinks when we wanted them and couldn't get the check at the end when we wanted to leave. And the food was not up to par. Perhaps this was a one-off but I won't be returning.
The food and service were top notch. The noise level was disturbing. I can't understand why people have to yell to have a conversation?
Was late for reservation due to subway and the hostess found us a table with out making us wait even though I had not called & missed the cutoff point for reservation being canceled. Our waiter was fabulous!
amazing service, food, and drinks
Really enjoyed the atomosphere. Food was delicious. Lovely on the overall
Service was horrific. Manager was extremely rude. We waited 30 mins for 1 drink. manager was unapologetic.
While the food is great, the service and experience are terrible. I’d much rather go to restaurants such as Rosa Mexicano, or more local places like La Loteria, where the food is equally as good, but my dinner, appetizers, and drinks aren’t thrown at me all at once. Really awful experience, sadly.
This spot was super fun and the service was awesome. It's so reasonably priced, the bottomless deal is great!
