Cozy spot in charming village. Great service and delicious food. Kid friendly. Great beer and wine choices.
Love the atmosphere and service by bar tender and waitress. Food is very good. Best part for us is sitting by the bar and having authentic drinks and talking to both locals and travelers.
We really enjoyed our dinner at The Dorset inn. It is off season so we had ample seating choices. Not a lot of patrons so noise level low...everything was perfect. Service and food was wonderful.
Would highly recommend and definitely return to.
Restaurant is in a charming and historic inn, with a pretty dining room and fireplace. Very cozy. There is also a tavern for drinks or more casual dining. I had a delicious Caesar salad, and ordered the filet, with whipped potatoes and winter veggies. My steak was overcooked, unfortunately, but the waitress was very pleasant and took it back to the kitchen. When she returned with my new order, she apologized and said to save room for a complimentary dessert. My husband had a tasty beet salad to start, then their classic turkey croquettes, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Great service, and delicious food. What more can you ask for!
Very Nice and Quiet for a meal near a fireplace. 2nd time there and both were excellent.
Simply - perfect.
We enjoyed another delicious lunch in the cozy tavern room. Great atmosphere and service.
Great service but the cod fish was almost not cooked and taste bad. Lady who is welcoming and showing the table was rude. Waitress was great and helpful.
We had a reservation at Dorset Inn but they had work going on that prevented us from eating there. However, they also own Dorset Rising which is about 100 yards away and serves great sandwiches and soup for lunch. Dorset Inn owners had called ahead and made sure we got free gourmet cookies for dessert. Great ownership and great food. Highly recommend for a casual lunch.
I eat in hundreds of restaurants every year.....this is one of my top 5 favorites.
By far one of the best dinners we have had in a long time. I would highly recommend and return to this restaurant
We had a delightful experience at the Dorset Inn. The food was appetizing and nicely presented. The service was warm and friendly and the staff was knowledgeable about options. The atmosphere was charming and the views from the window
s were lovely. We will definitely go back.
We have had several meals at the Dorset Inn, and they are always wonderful experiences. The courteous, professional waitstaff serves excellent New England fare in one of the oldest inns in Vermont - you can't get more authentic than that. For a more casual evening, dine in the tavern and try the Dorset Inn burger. It's one of the best anywhere.
Been to the DI hundreds of times. Almost always on the mark. But on this particular occasion, the service was non-existent. We had to go find our server several times. Then we were charged for a birthday cake that was already paid for. So a bit disappointing. But everyone is entitled to an off-night.
Our group of four ordered various cocktails - delicious - and a variety of dishes. All great! The pasta of the night - penne with roasted shrimp - was my favorite, but we left thinking it would be hard to go wrong. Recommend+++
We love this place and recommend it to anyone who is visiting southern vermont. Dorset is the most perfect vermont village. Wish we could live there! And the Inn is storybook wonderful.
Tavern is outstanding! Food was terrific. Enjoyed it very much.
We have enjoyed dining here many times over the years and this time did not disappoint.
The food is always well prepared and delicious. Service is always friendly and professional.
Noise level was higher than usual due to a family with small children.
I ordered the veal chop ($34) that came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The chop was very tough. The potatoes and fresh veggies were fabulous. My wife had the salmon and was very happy with her meal. The waitress was very nice and told me another customer complained about the veal. He sent it back. She spoke to the manager and they took it off our check and game me a free dessert, which was very good.
I would go back but order something different.
We had lunch at the Dorset Inn before a show at the Dorset Theater. The crab and corn fritters were delicious. I enjoyed every morsel!
Tasty meal with a comfortable setting in a charmingly restored inn. On the expensive side but worth the cost.
We've dined at the Dorset Inn several times, and it's always a great experience. The food is top-notch, and the service is always pleasant and professional. We enjoy sitting in the vibrant tavern, although the more-formal dining room is lovely.
Charming and delicious. Quaint setting. Relaxed atmosphere.
particularly loved the spring pea soup, which was probably the best pea soup I ever ate. All dishes were well seasoned. Service was great and very friendly. Highly recommended and close to DorsetPlayhouse
Was a lovely setting for Mothers day Dinner! Save room for dessert the Strawberry shortcake is delicious :-) The ice tea was very refreshing;-)
Wonderful Mother's Day brunch! Our party of 6 had a lovely round table in the beautiful dining room. The service was both friendly and efficient. The menu was as varied as it was delicious, with a lot of local options. Leave room for dessert! I will be back!
Had dinner in the Tavern which is a cozy, what you expect at a historic Inn in Vermont kind of place. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. It's a little on the pricey side, but worth it.
As always, an outstanding dining experience.
As always..amazing. great food. Great service. Great weekend.
Very Nice old historic inn located on the green in Dorset VT
We enjoy dining at The Dorset Inn when we visit VT several times a year.
This visit did not disappoint. The Sunday brunch was delicious and the garden Room as lovely and as inviting as ever.
Wonderful meal! The dining room was quaint and elegant. We had mussels, Caesar salad and two specials -- cod and short rib ravioli. All was delicious. Don't hesitate to drive a little bit to dine here!
We ate in the Tavern part of dining options at the Dorset Inn. It was friendly, comfortable and relaxed. The food was very good and the waitress (Darcy) was outstanding. The dining room was decorated for the holidays and was lovely and I'm sure we would have had an equally enjoyable experience there. We were staying at the Inn for a special occasion and the staff were very willing to help us celebrate.
What an awesome Inn, phenomenal service, delicious food, romantic, quiet, pet friendly, worth every penny spent. Highly recommend.
We sat in the pub area rather than the formal dining room. It was a little loud but a great place to be, next to the fireplace was a big plus. The food and drinks were great.
We are fortunate to live in the area. The Dorset Inn has never disappointed us.
The bar is warm and cozy and the main dining room is elegant. The food and service
have always been excellent. The only thing that I would change are the dining room chairs.
While they may go with the decor, they are not the most comfortable.
It was a quiet night as it was offseason after Thanksgiving but the waitress was really attentive food was very very good and the atmosphere was very quiet and cozy and romantic which is what we were looking for. We sat in front of the fireplace and had a spectacular meal with a creative menu. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent in fact it was one of the best breakfast I've had in a long time.
Best restaurant in the area; best calves liver ever.
