Dorset Inn Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation at Dorset Inn but they had work going on that prevented us from eating there. However, they also own Dorset Rising which is about 100 yards away and serves great sandwiches and soup for lunch. Dorset Inn owners had called ahead and made sure we got free gourmet cookies for dessert. Great ownership and great food. Highly recommend for a casual lunch.
We had a delightful experience at the Dorset Inn. The food was appetizing and nicely presented. The service was warm and friendly and the staff was knowledgeable about options. The atmosphere was charming and the views from the window
s were lovely. We will definitely go back.
We have had several meals at the Dorset Inn, and they are always wonderful experiences. The courteous, professional waitstaff serves excellent New England fare in one of the oldest inns in Vermont - you can't get more authentic than that. For a more casual evening, dine in the tavern and try the Dorset Inn burger. It's one of the best anywhere.
Been to the DI hundreds of times. Almost always on the mark. But on this particular occasion, the service was non-existent. We had to go find our server several times. Then we were charged for a birthday cake that was already paid for. So a bit disappointing. But everyone is entitled to an off-night.
I ordered the veal chop ($34) that came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The chop was very tough. The potatoes and fresh veggies were fabulous. My wife had the salmon and was very happy with her meal. The waitress was very nice and told me another customer complained about the veal. He sent it back. She spoke to the manager and they took it off our check and game me a free dessert, which was very good.
I would go back but order something different.
Wonderful Mother's Day brunch! Our party of 6 had a lovely round table in the beautiful dining room. The service was both friendly and efficient. The menu was as varied as it was delicious, with a lot of local options. Leave room for dessert! I will be back!
We ate in the Tavern part of dining options at the Dorset Inn. It was friendly, comfortable and relaxed. The food was very good and the waitress (Darcy) was outstanding. The dining room was decorated for the holidays and was lovely and I'm sure we would have had an equally enjoyable experience there. We were staying at the Inn for a special occasion and the staff were very willing to help us celebrate.
We are fortunate to live in the area. The Dorset Inn has never disappointed us.
The bar is warm and cozy and the main dining room is elegant. The food and service
have always been excellent. The only thing that I would change are the dining room chairs.
While they may go with the decor, they are not the most comfortable.
It was a quiet night as it was offseason after Thanksgiving but the waitress was really attentive food was very very good and the atmosphere was very quiet and cozy and romantic which is what we were looking for. We sat in front of the fireplace and had a spectacular meal with a creative menu. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent in fact it was one of the best breakfast I've had in a long time.
The most charming restaurant and by far our favorite on our long weekend in Vermont. From the time you walk in and you are warmly welcomed to the very homey classic decor. We started with the mussel appetizer and we had the trout and short ribs. Very well presented and accompanied by fresh local vegetables. The dessert special sundae was delicious.
Can't wait until our next visit.
A rare restaurant that understands it all, customer service, ambience, extraordinary (and local food)....a restaurant like this can really not be described, it just hums along and it makes you (and everyone else) feel special and privileged, and very lucky to have gone there....went one night of our vacation and again the third and last night.
