Love their weekend brunch. It is not a buffet, but the choices are excellent
There were six people in our party and the staff greeted us and seated us immediately. The ambiance was wonderful, the dining room cozy and inviting. The food was delicious !
Our waitress was very accommodating and pleasant. I would return and recommend anyone with a penchant for fine dining to The Dorset Inn !
Was here many years ago. Same great experience!
Ordered Poutine, Faroe Salmon and Rabbit Bolognese pasta. Nothing disappointed. Make sure to dine here when in the area.
The food is always consistently very good at the Dorset Inn. We started with a not too creamy artichoke dip and flat bread. Two of us had an amazing special pasta with scallops and shrimp. One person had the calves liver which he says is the best he can find. Another got the filet that was cooked perfectly. We also ordered a selection of desserts that were all very good. We greatly prefer the ambiance of the bar area but it was not available so we were in the dining room.
We had a wonderful 3 course dinner, everything was exceptional and amazing wine list.
amazing dinner- we were greeted like old friends - even though it was our first time there. Everything was veyond delicious and the right value for the money. Hostess gave us a tour at the end of the historic building. Only small complaint ( and please know I am from NY) was service was a tad slow but was impeccable.
Loved it - will check my impatince at the door the next time and sit back and enjoy.
Perfect Vermont setting, friendly staff and delicious food! We LOVE this place!
The food was amazing! Everyone was very pleased :) Service could of been quicker, we waited 25 min for dessert. Will be back because food was that great.
I brought my family here during the holidays to add to a true Vermont experience. The Dorset Inn did not disappoint! The lobby and dining room were decorated for Christmas and was warm and inviting. Each of our meals was excellent, from the vegetarian dishes to the filet and duck. We didn’t have room for dessert, but we’ll be back another time and try again. Our waitress, Carol, was friendly and professional. Dining at The Dorset Inn just makes for a lovely evening.
I loved the food, service and ambiance! NOONIE!
The restaurant was filled with locals who were very friendly.
We will visit again the next time we're in Manchester, Vermont.
The food at the Dorset in is always delicious
Never has a bad meal there and the service is always outstanding!
Whenever we go to VERMONT we try to schedule lunch at the Dorset Inn. We’ve gone there for years and we’ve never been disappointed.
The Inn never disappoints. A warm welcome upon entering, efficient and friendly service, very good food with a seasonal menu (but the favorites always available). Feels like home but with better food and no clean up!
It was excellent- stayed at the Inn for a quick get-away for my GF’s b-day and everything was perfect.
Good food attentive service!
Charming, iconic New England inn. The dining room was cozy and beautifully decorated -- the pervasive smell of maple didn't hurt at all! Service was pleasant and efficient but not overdone. The food arrived promptly and was very good. The wine list is extensive and there is a huge selection of craft beers. I would definitely recommend the Dorset Inn for a special occasion or an anytime meal. Look forward to visiting again.
Food was very good as was service. Kitchen was obviously overwhelmed with number of diners Food arrived slowly. Would return
Always a great meal. Home cooking. Excellent service in dining room & tavern.
The noise level when we dined at the Dorset Inn was ear splitting. The staff warned us before we were seated but the establishment did absolutely nothing to control it. I understand that restaurants are reluctant to ask patrons to lower their noise level, but for diners who would like to have a comfortable and relaxing meal where they can speak in a normal tone of voice to communicate with one another, it is really a no go.
The Dorset Inn has been providing accommodations and fine dining for a very, very long time. The dining room is lovely, the service personable and efficient, and the food consistently very good. Any drive to the Manchester/Dorset area needs to reserve a table at the Inn for a quintessential Vermont experience.
We have owned a house in the area for several years, and the Dorset inn is our go to spot for reliable and remarkably tasty food. Quiet pleasant interior, best of New England
fantastic atmosphere. great and diverse menu. awesome wine list. Get the pear martini.
Great food and great service. Wish the noise level in dining room could be managed. Hard to carry on a conversation at times.
One of our favorite places of all time. We’ve been going to the Dorset Inn every year on our annual New England trip. We always eat in the Tavern. First time was over 20 years ago. Nuni is the most incredible waitress. She’s worth the price of admission. Food and drinks are outstanding and Dorset is a perfect little Vermont Village.
A wonderful experience.
We are never disappointed by the Dorset Inn. It is a wonderful thing when the staff recognizes you because of previous visits, and greets you by name. The food is delicious and locally sourced as much as possible, and plated beautifully. The décor is old Dorset elegance in the main dining room and clubby bar in the tavern (our preferred spot). I've never gone away unhappy!
The food was quite good with a nicely varied menu. The dining room is comfortable and the noise level makes conversation easy. The service was not really on the same level as the food. Our server didn't check in very often, was very slow removing empty plates, did not refill wine glasses and was just not as attentive as I would have expected. I will note that the service at the other tables seemed better so the server might have been new or just having a difficult evening. As a result, I would go back and try the restaurant again.
Our meal and experience was excellent! This in one of our favorite places for dinner, we took friends last night and sat in the tavern. Highly recommended!
Dorset Inn is a historic locale that is locally beloved. The traditions are lovely and the pride of the team working there is evident. The food is old school , and I would recommend it to those who loved those upscale dining rooms of the 70s-80s in the nouvelle French tradition. Vermont cuisine is a bit more daring these days in my view with more refreshing elements. But Dorset Inn is sticking to the old blue blood winners for the leisure class, many of whom probably have been going there for generations. We also dined in Block Islan's fine restaurants this summer off the Rhode Island coast, with a similar Connecticut-based clientele, and I have to say their restaurants were much more refreshing and original.
There was also a very odd incident with the General Manager at the Dorset Inn who said she would seat us and then completely disappeared. The hostess who was away (temporarily) assumed we were taken care of. We were not. They really compensated for this with some free cocktails and heart felt apologies, but the restaurant's GM seemed scattered and a bit unusual. That should be a message to someone in charge to take a look at the issue.
This is our third trip. Initially for our honeymoon, then on our 10th anniversary (all a long time ago), this time with friends. The service, food, and ambiance are still wonderful. We truly enjoyed ourselves, once again, and so did our friends.
Thank you, once again.
We visited with friends while on a "girls trip". The staff was friendly and service was prompt. Food was excellent and the server quickly offer to personalize a menu item. Would highly recommend!
Updated and creative versions of traditional New England Inn fare. We had a minor issue with our wine service but it was rectified and everything else was excellent. Dorset Inn does a super job of getting its patrons in an out in time for the Dorset Theater Festival presentations without any feeling of a rush!
Very good food and great service in a charming inn. A really nice evening.
Excellent service & food. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice quite dinner in a great old Inn. Beautiful setting!
As always the Dorset Inn is a favorite of the locals. The food is always delicious with a creative menu. They create a great burger which is what we had the night we were there. They have a few tables al fresco which is delightful on a beautiful summer evening. It is always a consistent choice. They have an excellent staff too.
Not off to a good start when seated n tavern rather than dining room for a reservation made weeks in advance. Hostess alleged they had called to find out my preference 3 times, but there were no messages and no missed calls. Found out later that it wasn't me they were calling.
It is not easy to confuse the tavern and dining room; one is a sedate dining room, the other a tavern.
They did begrudgingly find a table in the dining room for us. After 10 minutes our waitress found the time to come by and we ordered a bottle of Sancerre. Let's just say that wherever her main interests lay, it was not in waiting on us. One might have thought that bringing a bottle of wine would not prove a challenge, but she stopped on the way to the bar at another table of apparent acquaintances, and found it necessary to chat with them for 10 minutes about various Pinot Noirs. So 15 minutes later our wine arrived, served, interestingly, by someone else.
The food took some time but did arrive eventually and was good. About 10 minutes after we finished eating our waitress wandered by again to ask if we had finished and cleared half the plates. Then she disappeared. When 10 minutes later she returned, I asked what had happened to her, and she informed us that she had had to speak with the chef. There were two people in the room whose job was to bus tables, but they apparently could only clear tables after the diners had gone, not while they were seated.
We cut our losses and did not bother with dessert.
Four stars even seems a stretch for this sort of service. If any manager was there, they were even more scarce than our waitress.
It was great, very charming. Loved the sweet potatoes fries and tasty salads.
We dine here fairly often and the quality of the food and service has never disappointed.
We've dinner at the Dorset Inn several times. It has always been outstanding. Beautiful restaurant, fantastic food. Always excellent.
This is a favorite dining location of ours. This time we dined outside and enjoyed another outstanding meal.
When we arrived for our reservation, the restaurant was almost empty. We were immediately lead to eat in a side room that was virtually empty. We asked if we could have a table in the main dining room. After some hesitation and attitude from the hostess, we were put in the main dining room. We were the third party to be seated. The main dining room never came close to reaching capacity while we were there. Why?
