About
Food was delicious but food took much too long to arrive
Had an amazing dinner for special anniversary, sitting outside finally some warm Boston weather! Our waiter was awesome !
Everything was delicious and service was great. Loved the zucchini chips with spicy tzatziki and lamb chops were terrific.
Everything was cooked to perfection. Full of flavors and on the main entree a delicious pairing of vegetables.
This is my favorite restaurant in Boston right now. Everything just tastes so good. The octopus appetizer is the best I’ve had anywhere. Every main course was amazing.
great food and love the small plates excellent service with good surroundings
So sad to hear they have closed. This was my favorite!
Absolutely bright, fresh, and exciting flavors. Each dish was really, really good, in particular the octopus, the Brussels sprouts, and the short rib with orzo and asparagus. We had five small plates and an entree, and there was not a single dish that wasn’t excellent. Coupled with friendly, efficient service and a nice room, it was a very delicious meal. I only wish we had saved rom for desert, as they sounded wonderful too.
Came for Mother’s Day, was a perfect setting.
The reception was cheerful, but confused and slow. No valet parking, despite location where it might be expected. Once seated, we were advised to get drinks at the bar b/c it would "take too long" to depend on the server (??!). No cocktail onions or Hendricks gin. Wine we wanted was not available. Atmosphere somewhat disappointing, ho him, especially after Via Matta (previous occupant).
On the positive side, the food was quite good. Nice variety of tapas much appreciated and delicious desserts.
Another great meal! We ate with friends and chose from the small plates, each of which was delicious. The crunchy lamb meatballs, the tsitsiki dip, the shrimp plate all great. The salad was fresh. As usual, the waitstaff was wonderful and attentive.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant and it was amazing!! I was very happy that I chose this venue for my dear friend’s birthday... you have gained a bunch of new patrons!!! I will spread the word about the food, service and overall experience!!
Someone brought us our entrees and I said mine wasn’t what I ordered. He said ok but then never told anyone about it. When I finally flagged down someone (nobody ever checked on us after our food came out) and told her I got the wrong entree she said that it was the right entree (I ordered short rib and it was lamb chops.) She said that’s what their short rib looks like. When someone else finally came over I asked him about it and he said it was not the short rib and he would have it made up for me. Everyone else was done eating though so we left without my ever getting an entree. The problem is they seem to have a team approach to waiting on tables so you don’t really have an assigned server. Really disappointing dinner.
Everything from the food to the staff to the ambiance was amazing!! Would recommend to anyone interested for a nice date night or group get together
Exceptional service and a very varied menu.
The food and service were very good, but the portions were too small. We ordered the appetizer with a variety of spreads for the 5 of us and there was only a tablespoon of each spread. The ingredients for something like that are not expensive and I don't understand why they could not have given us enough of each spread so that each person could have a good amount. For the rest of the dishes i know they were small plates. One of the desserts was large but also expensive. One of your questions above asks if we would recommend the restaurant and I already gave a friend a qualified recommendation based on the only fair value.
We all had a wonderful meal and a very nice evening.
We had a great meal the other day, dining on small plates. The crunchy lamb meatballs were excellent as were the chickpea fritters. The shrimp small plate was delicious. The spinach pastry was great as well. Our waiter was superb and brought a plate of terrific olives for the table.
The noise level increases as the evening progresses.
We enjoyed the food, and our server was attentive; however, it took a crazy long time for half of our dishes to come out from the kitchen. We spent 1 hour and 45 min at the restaurant for 4 small plates and a couple of glasses of wine.
We went for our son birthday celebration. The appetizer choices were plenty and could have a great dinner by choosing a couple of them for either vegetarians or meat eaters ! Service could have been better for a not busy night which was surprising for a Thursday night
Overall we had a nice experience with great cocktails and food
Only issue was noise level especially with capacity at about half. Not necessary. Food was terrific and our server was the best i have seen in a year.
Loved everything about it
Family Greek Easter at Doretta Taverna was a great success. The available menu, pix fixe, had choices for everyone to enjoy from age 8 to 70something. The service was also very good, flexible, pleasant and unobtrusive. There were four courses offered, served family style. And plain pasta was available for anyone wanting it. Favorites at our table were the dips, the shrimp, meatballs and octopus, the branzino and lamb and all of the desserts. Our group sat in a window banquette which was very cozy for our group of six. Thank you!
Excellent service. Unusual and delicious entrées and small plates. Exquisite ambience In artistic setting. Good choices in wines by the glass.
Michael the owner/chef came to our table to talk to us.
He is a very special guy.
And, of course, everything was fresh and. delicious.
We also enjoyed a Greek wine, that was at an appropriate price level.
Although clean and solid , this restaurant is overpriced for not much creativity .
If you like Greek/Mediterranean food, this place is excellent. Can get pricey, but the quality is definitely there to match. The service was fantastic as well. Great wine list. Would definitely recommend.
One of my favorite restaurants in the Boston area. Absolutely delicious every time and service is always impeccable. Highly recommend to anyone that loves or is interested in exploring Mediterranean cuisine.
Although the food was good , the portions were very small for restaurant week. Shortest cocktails of any restaurant in the area. Bartenders pour exactly one shot per drink for $12. Poor value, will not be returning.
Doretta was a good place to go. The food was well made, and our server gave us a great recommendation about how to pair our starters and entree. There were many things on the menu I wanted to try, but didn't have the time to get to. I will definitely be headed there to try it out at a later date. The prices were really good for what you may expect from the area, which was a subtle surprise.
The greek salad, grilled octopus, and greek traditional custard dessert were all great! Very delicious! The lamb burger was disappointing, it was too salty.
this was our second visit. The food was unusual and excellent, as previously. Interesting wine list with some Greek wine choices that we were not familiar with. We will continue to patronize Doretta --
Really enjoyed the small plates - everything was very fresh and tasty. Excellent wine recommendations from our waiter as well.
The food was so and so. Absolutely no wow factor when it came to any of the dishes. The real saving grace of the night was the service. Our server, Randy, was excellent and made sure the night was an enjoyable one. From running out ouzo choice by us with a taste first to properly pairing our wine with our entrees, Randy got the job done...and damn well too.
Girls night out for restaurant week - food/menu, service and wine were all amazing!
The was especially good and the service was prompt and friendly. The grilled octopus was tender and perfectly seasoned while the lamb meatballs were in a terrific tomato based sauce with a bit of tang to it. The lamb shoulder was excellently fine, tender and well spiced. The lamb burger was very good and came with fresh potato chips. The pistachio baklava was a great finish. Top notch meal at a very fair price.
We stopped by for lunch prior to a matinee. Great food, Branzino was delish, attentive service. Tried hummus and smoked eggplant for appetizers - very good. We also had the baklava, it was flavorful but not as flaky as we would have liked.
Came here with two friends for Restaurant week. Wasn't busy at all but the host was nowhere to be found when we walked in...bad look. Drinks were tasty but also very stingy in terms of portion size. Octopus app was pretty good but nothing special. My friend and I were excited to try the "15hr lamb shoulder" only to be disappointed by the meat being cold as if it were sitting at the kitchen expo before the server even fired it. Pickles were the best part of the meal. For "15 hours" of braising, this dish lacked tenderness and was nothing to write home about. Baklava was very dry and was not pleasing. I understand that Restaurant week menus are portioned out to fit the cost, but I do think someone should be overseeing the food going out. Service was alright. I will not return.
Great food, great drinks, a little pricey, but overall it was excellent
Excellent drinks
