Food and service was excellent - would definately return. Nice and relaxing night. Restaurant
decorated beautiful for the xmas holiday.
Mediocre service... Waited a while before we were given menus. There was a "Date night special" which included a bottle of wine, two entrees, soup or salad for $60, very good value. However our wine did not arrive until after our soup/salad and only after we flagged down our waitress. We each had surf & turf - the filet was good but the lobster was mediocre, and the baked potato was not fully done. For the price not bad...
So pretty when you walked in! Food was good....service was great.
We ate here during restaurant week. We loved that there were more than 3 item from which to choose. It was a great selection and all could be found on the regular menu. This is not always the case. Will definitely go back.
Not impressed at all. My husband's prime rib was tasty as was the salmon portion of my entree. However, that's the best I can say. My entree was supposed to be accompanied by a crispy vegetable coleslaw and lentils. What I received was asparagus and rice. Before I had a chance to say anything, the runner that set down the plate was gone. Our waitress was nowhere to be found and not wanting my meal to get cold, I began eating the entree. When I explained the problem to the person that came to check on our meal (not our waitress), he looked at me like I had two heads. At that point, I made the decision to eat the asparagus as well, since waiting for the replacement sides would've meant that my husband would finish eating his meal while I was still waiting. The next person to stop at the table to check on things (still not our waitress) told me, when I explained the problem, that there was no entree on the menu that included those sides! I asked her to get me a menu and I would show her. Need I say more?
Jersey shore restaurant week brought us here. It is an outstanding value and they had the best selection of all the restaurants participating. Highly recommend the crab cake appetiizer and rack of lamb
Very disappointed in the restaurant, the food came out cold to warm. The waitstaff stood the corner of the room waiting for you to finish and pounced on you as soon as you did, will not recommend this restaurant and will not come back to this restaurant. We came hoping for a date nite menu which was on the home page, they changed the nite from Saturday to Friday. Again very disappointed.
First off update the website. The reason for choosing Doolan's was the Saturday date night menu which it turns out wasn't offered.
When we arrived there was only one table occupied and it was by 3 very obnoxious middle aged women who were pretty toasted.
They were very loud and fawning over the Mexican waiter taking selfie after selfie.
Once they left I thought things would get better but it only went downhill from there. Being that Doolans is a catering hall (which I honesty didn't realize) / hotel there was an affair going on.
The thumping bass from the affair room and the top 40 being played in the restaurant didn't get along with each other and neither did my head. By the time my dinner arrived I was in no mood to eat and asked for it to wrapped.
A second visit seems very unlikely.
Price value for the twilight dinner was excellent. Food was very good.
Great everything was perfect
We actually went on Saturday the 10th because of the entertainment, it was great!
Disappointed Early Bird prices on Website was far less than actual prices when we arrived. Website stated one price.... menu a much larger cost. Unfair
We shared the seafood appetizer and it was delicious. The clams casino and the calamari were outstanding. Then on to Chicken caprese - absolutely delicious and a nice bottle of wine to go with it.
Food was very good - but service and ambiance was poor. They had one server for all the tables (at least 15 when we left) and one bus boy. She was great - but pulled in too many directions and could not keep up with the request (while the food was still hot). They also had a wedding at the same time - assuming they used many of their waitstaff for the wedding - and neglected the restaurant. This was my first visit - and will be my last.
Recommendation - they desperately need an "update" to the dining room. Given the competition around - I felt like I was having dinner in a basement.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Doolans Shore Club! Everytime we go here for dinner or a special occasion the food, service, and attention to detail is amazing! Truly a gem of the Jersey Shore!
I thought the food was very good; however, we were seated in a small room next to a party room. My chair was partially in the doorway to the hall which resulted in me getting bumped into over and over again. The atmosphere was too noisy and crowded.
It was a great experience. The twilight dining is a wonderful value. Surf and turf as supurb. Will do it again!
Been their several times previously Usually go for early bird, which is nice as they carry it til 6:30 Food plentiful, they don't take short cuts, due to early bird cost. Great ambiance. Fun to dress up, although not necessary Enjoy it everytime
Decor is depressing for a NJ shore restaurant. Very dark and dingy. Brown tablecloths and napkins. TERRIBLE!!!! Food was good and the surf and turf a bargain at $29.00. Staff was great very attentive.
Not what I remember from years ago
Excellent as always
Went for early bird, and the value was tremendous. Even though early bird...fine large portions..... all in all GOOD !!
Beginning with something favorable-the food is very good. Unfortunately the service was one of the worst we have experienced. Over one half hour wait between the salad and entrée. Lots of trays coming out of the kitchen however they were going to the wedding party. Worst was the lack of any explanation from the server. Even worse was that he never visited the table. Thanks to the hostess who responded to our concern however there was never an apology of any sort.
Suggestion to Doolan's. It's great that you can serve as a restaurant and catering hall. Just make sure one goal is at the expense of the other.
Very good food at Doolan's but no ambience. We felt a little rushed by the waiter, and didn't think his style was classy enough for this restaurant. He asked us twice - " are you guys ready to order"?. I don't think we will go back.
Doolan's is fondly remembered by many shore residents from years of sports banquets and club dinners, but it has gotten a little tired. The décor needs to be updated, and the waiters could use a little training. Tellingly, the bar had only one person inside on the night I ate there (off season). On the bright side, the food was just fine, though maybe a little pricey. And the wait staff readily replaced a tough prime rib with a different entrée.
First time here. Had a very good steak and nice bottle of Malbec. It may be known more as a wedding facility but the restaurant is well worth a try.
Comfortable with a low noise level helped make the experience very pleasant. And great twilight specials were a nice surprise. The food was very good and portions were ample. Reasonable drink prices too.
We went here for restaurant week and it was great! Many options on the restaurant week menu, but an added bonus was the daily twilight specials. There menu was varied and included beef, chicken, lamb, seafood and pasta. The dining room was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. The staff apologized because one server had called out, but the hostess and bartender pitched in and our service was top notch. Definitely worth a trip to Spring Lake and we will go back!
We were in town to visit family, thought this world be a nice pave for dinner but disappointed worn the food. Menu on line want what they had and the meal was just average. Over cooked lobster and a poor wine list.
The food, decor, and service were all very good. There were two weddings going on while we were there, but the dining room was separated from the main wedding venue so no problems there. We will definitely come back when we are visiting Spring Lake, NJ again.
Would not go back. Dining room was dirty food was charred dishes were dirty
My wife and I took advantage of Doolan's Date Night Valentines Special. $100 per couple for 3 course meal which included a bottle of wine. Entertainment was included - a guy sang the old standards like you were at a wedding and people were on the dance floor. Food was good and wine was good too! This was a really good value for dining out on Valentines day when most places rip you off and charge as much as $100 per person and then you feel rushed and unfulfilled. Doolan's was nice and relaxing with no rush. We even danced a few times! Very nice!
First, if you are not at least 75 years old you don't belong here. I'm 53 and I felt like I was surrounded by my parents. The "entertainment" is an old man who thinks he is Frank Sinatra singing to a karaoke machine. The whole place is like being in a 1970's time warp. The décor is out of date and shabby. The food was not bad. Equivalent to a good diner. Service was painfully slow. I could not wait to get out of there. Also they really need to get a valet or fix the parking lot. It's large, unlit, and full of potholes. One of those old people is going to fall and get hurt back there and they will get sued.
Took family here for Christmas Dinner. The food was terrible, the staff rude, the restaurant quality so bad I can say it was one of the worst overall experiences. At $50 a head, it was shocking. If they service and food is going to be so bad, CLOSE for the HOLIDAY but don't rip people off who are trying to enjoy a special holiday dinner with family. The food in our opinion was inedible and cold. After complaining the SAME food came back microwaved. The Viennese table had collapsed cakes that appeared spoiled and could not be eaten. The meal resulted in a few handful's of M&Ms for our children and a bill of almost $200.
This restaurant has live entertainment at night in summer, but not in winter. The seafood is excellent and the steak is good (definitely recommend seafood over steak).
Our experience at Doolans Shore Club was a very rewarding one. From the very friendly greeting we received by the maitre d' upon our arrival , to the excellent seating as requested in our Open Table reservation. We had an amazing waitress Paula, who was very knowledgeable of the menu and made our dining experience at Doolans exceptional. She made every effort to insure everyone was completely satisfied. It was a family Christmas dinner and going to Doolans Shore Club definitely made it memorable.
Food was mediocre. Went for Restaurant Week and would have been better off going to another restaurant. Food was bland, one of my party's food came out cold. Definitely had the feeling the restaurant is an afterthought of the catering operation. Did not feel that anything I ate was cooked to order.
The staff was extremely friendly and very and curtious, the food was fantastic. Had a very nice dining experience and would highly recommend the restaurant. The food was perfectly prepared and was fantastic. Great place to go and we will defiantly return
The early bird Twilight Suppers at Doolan's Shore Club are exceptional! They include soup or salad, entree, and dessert. The range of choices in entrees and desserts far exceeds those of other restaurants in the area. All courses are fresh and delicious, and the portions are quite satisfying. The cost is very reasonable, the ambiance is lovely and festive, and the service is excellent.
Wonderful food and service
The food is delicious - I'd give it 10 out of 10. The live music is designed for older folks - mostly from Frank Sinatra's era.
