Dons Bogam BBQ & Wine Bar
Good Korean bbq. The short ribs were amazing! Enjoyed the evening and would go back again.
We had to wait 20 minutes for a table and kept being told 1 more minute. Our server was nice and food was good. Extremely noisy diners next to us.
Seems to be trendy now, but not that special - foodwise.
Overall good food .... However we were told 3 times that we need to vacate our table by 8pm for the next seating... twice by the seating staff then by the waiter again. It made the whole experience distasteful before even ordering anything. It was a bad start to the evening. In order to get us out ... They literally cooked the meats so fast and combining everything together. Not the best experience at that sense.
Consistently great—my go-to place for Dolsot Bibimibap and BBQ!
Food was just so/so. Nothing wrong with it, but there's much better places in the same area. Service was friendly, prompt, and accommodating.
Goodfood, but disappointing experience. We showed up with friends at an early time, with few patrons. They seated us at the BBQ table; we didn't want BBQ but other entrees. So they moved us and then spent the rest of the evening doing their best to ignore us--we had to repeatedly ask to get drinks, had our entrees plopped on the table in random order (by a grumpy waiter who didn't want to bother), and worst of all were served the little dishes of vegetables for TWO people when we were a party of 4 (confirmed by watching those around us). Impossible to say anything, however, because impossible to get anyone's attention. Too bad--the food was good (not the best Korean, but good) and the space is nice, but the experience was fairly unpleasant.
Food was excellent, so was atmosphere.
However, server E.E. was extremely rude. Forgot 3 times when asked for rice bowls, rushed us to eat fast to the point of throwing food on our plates out of the BBQ almost knocking out the food we were eating at that point out of our chopsticks several times, never offering to replenish the small sided as usual, but rather just begrudgingly and visibly annoyed waiting for us to ask several times.
Luckily we had other servers coming around that did not technically tend our table but were far more pleasant and helpful in providing the service and experience we are accustomed to when dining at Don’s Bogam.
I've been here so many times and i am never disappointed. Great for small groups or even date nights. Everything is always perfect here. The food is excellent, the wine list is extensive, the staff is attentive and accommodating, and it's always a lot of fun. I've been going for over 7 years now and I will continue to do so.
Food good. Waiter was not friendly and seemed annoyed when we asked him to tell us what the accompaniment dishes were.
Food here is great; however the wait staff is very rushed and impersonal to the point of coming off rude. Also, I ordered a jasmine green tea assuming that it would come out hot and in a mug. Instead, they brought me a plastic capped bottle of the generic green tea sold in most Asian and new york grocery stores and bodegas. I had to open the bottle and pour it into a glass with they provided on the side with a straw. For the price I figured they would pay a little bit more attention the quality than this. Also, I don't think straws are necessary for cold tea as a 30 year old adult. Also the hood of the vent fell off and slammed into the grill. Thankfully nothing was cooking at the time but it was quite loud. This places is rated as one of the best in ktown and it is on the pricier side for having a relatively limited menu and not great service I can't give it a great rating.
The service was awful. I was there for a company dinner and our check was around $750 and our waiters/ waitresses were very rude and rushed us through dinner. There are better options for Koran BBQ.
One of my favorite kbbq places. Great meat without breaking the bank entirely. Sunday night was quiet, and the quality seemed better, so I might do Sunday dinner’s more often. Occasionally the quality fluctuates day to day, but never horrible and it’s always a good time!
Loved our server... he was lively! Food was way more than I was explained so i ordered more which I end up taking home.
Please revise the gratuity calculation inclusive of tax instead of subtotal... gratuity is based on the service served and not of sales tax.
Excellent food, great service.
We loved it!
Food and wine selection: outstanding
We were dining late, and the service staff really checked put. No management presence. Noone asked if we wanted another round or anything else to eat,,,,
Over priced v
Lovely place. Amazing sake list. Bibimbap a must!
The quality and quantity of food has gone down, while the prices have gone up. I understand it is Manhattan, but really? Tiny amounts of banchan? Stingy with the lettuce.
Short rib was rubbery, maybe because the grill was broken and needed a rubber ball to hold the ignition switch to function. When the waiter put the meat on the grill, the fire was out so the temperature wasn't right at all. We couldn't even get water refilled before our meal was over. For the price I've had much much better experience elsewhere.
Nice surroundings for a Korean BBQ place (but be forewarned about how difficult it can be to get in and out of seating around grill tables). Excellent food, although I bet they laid off the spice for the Caucasian guests. Very good wine list, with a few items (like Pol Roger champagne) very competitively priced. A fun change of pace.
Heather, who prepared our food, was particularly helpful and friendly. We had a lot of questions as this was our first time eating Korean food. She explained everything perfectly and we had a wonderful evening.
The service was exceptional. And atmosphere was perfect for a friendly, fun, casual gathering.
Food not as much..
Overall the food and service was great. They had a large menu and were very accommodating. The bartenders were phenomenal.
However, the receptionist was a bit rude. We had an 8 PM reservation, which we called to move up to 7:30 PM. We arrived at 7:45 on the dot. The receptionist told us we only hold tables for 15 minutes and did not want to help us otherwise. Immediately, the manager intervened and told us we would be seated for 8 PM. Which was obviously fine with us. I do not understand why the receptionist would turn away business due to a simple reservation mistake.
Regardless, it was a great experience.
Love their weekday lunch menu - it's not crowded and service is attentive. The food came out quickly and it was delicious & fresh.
Our first time at a Korean bbq restaurant was Amazing!! Our server was helpful. The food was delicious and flavors were complex but never too spicy.
Overall, this was a really good place to take people from out of town. The food was more than enough and a lot more than you would expect. The banchan was all delicious and plentiful, and they always kept it coming. Definitely try the seafood pancake if you're willing to share it with four or more people because it's pretty large. Don't expect to get seated on time, or a warm welcome. They're not that friendly.
Very good food and service! We had our tables moved because another friend was on their way but didn’t show and they were very friendly about it. Food was excellent and so were the drinks!
They were unfriendly. Especially the men. I do not want to visit again.
Excellent food. Great ambiance. Spicy food. Maybe slightly on the pricy side. Dumpling and marianeted beed BBQ are excellent.
Didn’t like being rushed. From the second we sat down, waiter and manager were rushing us to order, eat, next course, pay and leave. At 75-100 per head, it’s ridiculous. Food is good enough but at these prices, I wouldn’t go back.
Great food & drinks and tun experience. bring friends for fun night
Although we thoroughly enjoyed the tender and flavorful meat at this Korean BBQ place, the service was rather abrupt and unfriendly. When we arrived just about 3 minutes before our reservation, we were told that our entire party has to be all present before they would seat us. Then at the appointed time we were seated with one of our party still not present, and was told that we should start ordering food immediately because our table will be needed within one and a half hours. During dinner service we were rushed through our meal and indeed we were out within the allotted time. Definitely not a place to enjoy a leisurely. With the price charged we would have enjoyed a much more relaxed meal.
Food was great as always.
Maintains it high standards over the years and could not be more friendly. My partner had a great chat with the bar-tender about Japanese whisky. Our guests, who have not had Korean food before, were delighted by the different kinds of BBQ beef and side dishes.
I came here with my family from out of town because I remembered it being a good experience. All the meat tasted the same and like liver. It was off. The waiter disappeared without explanation. Apparently his shift ended and he did not think it important to tell anyone to take care of us. Will not return.
Our favorite Korean BBQ in the city! We have been several times and we absolutely love it.
Meat quality is hands down the best in the city but a bit pricey. Service is great and seating is quick if you have a reservation. Nicer than most Korean BBQ spots in the city. Not some place you can go all the time though, you'll go broke.
