Tables need updating to full western flooring/seating. I understand the concept, to create an authentic ambience of sitting on the floor—of 마루. But seating is impractical and arduous. I saw diners stumbling and grunting getting in and out (myself and my husband included!) The poor wait staff having to lean at such a challenging angle to assist with bbq and cleaning tables…no wonder they are all very young men in good physical shape!
Also, the ventilation needs updating. Too much smoke. Unhealthy for the workers, esp.
Amazing dining experience! Everything is always fresh and delicious! New kobe beef platter for two on the menu is mouthwatering:) must try
Champagne and beef tongue is a shockingly delicious pairing. Love the drink selection and the quality of the meats here.
Great food, attentive service
Amazing food, first time trying, a definite comeback
Had the opportunity to go to Don's Bogam to celebrate a family member's birthday on a Friday night. I really enjoyed the overall ambiance of the restaurant, compared with the many other options that are available in K-Town at that time. It is much more sophisticated, with the noise level manageable and the service really great. Ordered various BBQ meats, the bacon eggs and was able to enjoy a great conversation.
The only thing that is a bit awkward is with the table design. We were seated next to another part of 4, and based on the way that the tables are half-designed with western and Korean aspects you need to walk on some wood behind others to get into the inner-most part of the table. That's not something that the restaurant can easily change, as it is part of the design that you might eat with other people at the same table who are not part of your party if you have a group of 4 as we did. Still, it was manageable and expected on a Friday night as the place slowly filled up with more and more diners.
GreatvKorean BBQ expirence.
Food was very tasty.
Nice wine list.
The only downside was that there were no deserts
this is simply not a good authentic Korean place, no rice paper, only 4 little sides (boring steamed brocoli, Kimchi, hard brown beans, and soja) what a joke! where are the little sausages, fish, soups, salads and other delicious fun sides that make spending $200 fun...
The food and service were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant, although I found the music to be a little loud for my taste!
Food was just okay and we were so disappointed by the lack of flavor or quality. Wine selection limited on a per glass availability.
Great food and service. Clean with great ambiance. Highly recommended!
Good quality & service. Very good place to enjoy Korean style dinner in NYC.
Great experience. Love the food! Friendly and attentive staff. I highly recommend this place.
Service was excellent, quality of the meats was excellent, especially the Galbi. There was no the variety of banchon that we have had at many other establishments, and it was disappointing that there was only white rice (had a purplish rice with bean in other restaurants). Our waiters were very attentive and quickly replenished anything that we asked for as well as expertly barbecuing our food. The price was slightly higher than some of the other Korean establishments we have been to. The noise level was what you would expect at a busy restaurant. Some of the other places nearby have been so loud that conversation was difficult, so Dons Bogam was a very welcome change in that respect. We enjoyed our evening at Dons Bogam and would definitely return.
Table wasn’t available for at least 30 min after the reservation time
I'm use to a greater variety of small dishes (banchan), like I've had in Los Angeles and Seoul, but what was served tasted OK. We ordered japchae (glass noodle salad) and steamed egg (jjim), which were excellent. The marinade for the kalbi and bulgogi was too sweet in my opinion, but it was still savory. A little pricey overall, but the service was pretty good as well. We'll be back!
It was great. Loved the food
Food is great, people are courteous. Compared to nearby Korean BBQ places, felt much relaxing and roomier.
This was our first time here - we LOVED everything!!! Food is absolutely amazing, service was wonderful, it was a fantastic evening for all of us!! Loved the fried shumai dumplings, marinated short ribs, skirt steak, pork belly, and shrimp!!! Saki is pricey - don't bother with a carafe - just get the bottle - but it was great!! Other reviews said this restaurant was noisy - it was not!! We can't wait to come back!!
Overpriced with mid-level service. Non-koreans didn't know the quality well, but you pay for the sliced rib meat way thinner than typical cut yet charge you nearly $47 for per person. I am not impressed even with Naengmyun noodle.
It was very good, staff was very attentive and the food was excellent
Clean and outstanding customer service. Everything was delicious and served on time.
Poor service and loud. Not worth it if you don't use the hibachi/cook yourself. Better steak and value elsewhere.
Best date night in years! Would definitely come back and bring friends.
Delicious food & really wonderful service. Never disappointed at this restaurant.
I have dined at Don’s over the past 12 years, nearly 100 visits. The food is delicious…
Definitely one of the best KBBQ spots in Manhattan.
It was great!
We drove from Massachusetts to NYC and tried this place our friends recommended , because they are supposed to have good cocktails. Our server told us that night that the bar tender was not there so no cocktails, and told us to order wine or shoju. Then when the meal Was over , I talked to the hosts at the front desk and they were shocked to what the server told us because the bar tender was there the whole time and the server could have made us cocktails himself too. It was a huge disappointment and I will never go back again.
Amazing food and top service. Spacious restaurant for NYC standards. Highly recommend it.
It was very clean and quiet, food was excellent, felt safe indoor dining
Everything was just amazing!!! The food was superb!
Really great service and food. We’re a family of four. The kids really enjoyed the food, and it definitely reminded me of all the great meals I’ve had in Korea.
I’ll come again. We sat outside and that was perfect. It was quite loud inside.
The food was delicious. The staff were very nice and helpful. It was a great experience.
Went for a client lunch. Spicy Short Ribs were very chewy but the Prime Rib eye steak was good. Atmosphere inside & out was meh. Service was mediocre. Definitely overpriced.
Food and ambiance are good, unfortunately the service was poor and made it a not so pleasant experience.
Excellent food, great sever who gave us excellent recommendations which made the meal truly enjoyable. One of the best meals in some time
Excellent restraurant providing the delicious food and wonderful service as well as comfortable atmosphere.
