Dondero's - Grand Hyatt Kauai
Food and ambiance were outstanding! Our server Juan was amazing, truly made us feel special. Thank you!
Great service and delicious food.
Turn the music down!!!
Food was very good, tasted really italian.
Home made Pasta, typical italian dishes, like Osso bucco, etc.
Reasonable prices for this location
Our waiter Juan did good food and wine recommendations
Enjoyed the food and presentation, Juan was extremely helpful with our menu choices. Top notch meal and service.
Third time here. Love it. Great wine list. Will come back again. Best food.
Service is outstanding. This is how it is done. We like eating on patio.
House made ice cream - omg
Fantastic!!! Ask for Juan......what an incredible server and person, very nice and genuine person! Food was incredible!
The food, service and ambiance are great. It all makes for a special evening.
We go to Dondero's every time we are in Kauai!! It is our son's favorite and ours, too!!!! Food is amazing!!! Jeremy S. is a fantastic server.....very attentive and fun and informative!!!! Highly recommend!!!!
Just perfect. Ate on patio. Food is amazing.
First, this restaurant charged four dollars for one small slice of a pineapple they cut into 4 pieces. That is outrageous. More concerning is they did not tell us they were charging for this beforehand. They also asked if it was a special occasion and when we told them the occasion they did not do anything. Really, why ask?! Finally, the food:
1. The lobster was undercooked raw.
2. The carbonara was underwhelming too much bacon and the egg to raw with white floating elements.
3. The meatball was too salty.
The chicken entree was just ok. The burata cheese and tomato appetizer was ok too. Nothing extraordinary though. We expected better. Really disappointed. We will not be dining at Dondero’s ever again.
Great food and ambiance.
Best meal we had while in Kauai!!!
Great experience. Wonderful staff and great food.
Service was great right from the beginning. Hostess Rhonda was very friendly and all of the staff were attentive. Food was great!
Great tasting food, everything seemed to be made from scratch. Although for the price, the portions are extremely small and my family of four was still hungry after we left ( and we all had appetizers, entree, and desserts) Ambiance needs updated but if you’re looking for creative Italian cuisine this is a great spot
Delicious food and excellent service. The ambiance is inviting and the view is breathtaking!
Very overpriced, and to add insult to injury, the waitress aggressively tried to up-sell everything: add shrimp? add lobster? add a meatball? The food was mediocre, but when considering the prices, I'd call it poor. Service was extremely slow. Indoor decor is tacky, but dining on the porch was a very nice setting.
Had a very disappointing dinner at Dondero's. Everything about the experience was poor right from the start. Interior decor is horrible. We were made to wait 5 minutes before being shown to the table despite the fact that the place was 1/2 empty. Server was absolutely clueless. Managed to get confused by even basic requests. Food itself was mediocre. Had the risotto special which was very underwhelming. My guests requested some chicken to be added to their pasta which resulted in an extra $30 being added to the bill. This restaurant is well below the standard of the rest of the resort, which is excellent.
The appetizers are fantastic, we love the caprese salad with the burrata cheese. We ate there twice in one week because we also really enjoyed their flatbread pizza app.
We wish they had more than 2 veg options for main entrees, but we easily filled up on veg friendly appetizers. Loved the outdoor seating and great for kids too.
Great view, okay expensive food.
Great experience! Very nice table outside as we celebrated out anniversary. Menus were customized with our name on them making a nice piece of memorabilia! Food was well prepared, wine choices were sufficient. Comped our deserts to help us celebrate!
Great for people with Celiac Disease lots of GF items
Vacation special dinner
Incredible view, tasty Italian seafood fare, nice relaxing service.
Excellent food and service. Beautiful outdoor dining with ocean view.
What a beautiful meal we had there. Fresh pasta that was made with a Hawaiian feel. Nice flavors throughout the entire meal. Carbonara was something special for sure.
Very expensive. Food was mediocre. Food value was extremely poor. Bottom line there’s better food and better food are you out there. The grounds are stunning. The resort is stunning. It seems like the atmosphere of the restaurant could not live up to the food quality nor the food value. Really surprised. You should be able to get the same food value for less than half the price. Plus as mentioned above the food was just mediocre does the dishes were prepared with a good presentation they were just sort of, blah not what you were expecting based on The resort, the grounds, and the price
On vacation by myself, the gave me an excellent table, unusual when one is dining alone!
Great service great food great ambience! Try and get a table outside on the patio. Amazing!
Menu is basic Italian. The food - pasta bolognese, a seafood risotto, butter poached lobster and a pizza - was excellent. The decor, however, is stuck in 1989 and in desperate need of a redo. The patio is pretty but the rest of the place feels like Grandma’s kitchen and the further away from the patio you are, the more antiseptic it gets. It just feels like a forgotten restaurant on the property - kind of hard to find and ignored. It’s a shame, because he food really deserves better
We received excellent service and had a delicious meal. The staff gave us our choice of seating, inside or out, and we chose "in" due to the blustery breezes. We were seated at precisely the time for which we had made our reservation. Portions were good and food prices as expected. My steak was done exactly as I had requested and the accompanying scallops were very tasty.
The only downside was their obscene markup on most wines, at 4 to 10 times retail. [For example, Veuve Cliquot "Yellow Label" at $168 when I can buy it for $42 at Costco. At the low end, they charge $48 for Beringer white zinfandel, which is about $5 in an ordinary grocery store.] We selected the Belle Glos pinot noir, which, at $80, was only twice retail price. And, yes, nobody was forcing us to have wine with our meal, but we always do.
Food quality wasn’t what we expected ... fair
Great dinner - exceptional flavors and Drew was an outstanding waiter
35 th wedding anniversary
My Husband and I are staying at the Grand Hyatt for our honeymoon. It was our first night here and we decided to try an Italian restaurant. This was probably the worst Italian restaurant we have ever ate at. I had spaghetti with a marinara sauce. The sauce did not even have a flavor. My husband had shrimp with pasta and he said it was ok. You could definitely tell the shrimp were fresh, that was probably the only positive of the night. To be honest we don’t know what was worst the service or the food. Our server wasn’t very friendly and seemed like he would go disappear. We gave him our drink order and than he didn’t come back for about 10 minutes. Prior to getting our drink order he did not come to the table for about 10 minutes. When we finally got our food he must have walked past our table 5 times. He didn’t even acknowledge us or ask us how our food was. The guy who helped our server was more attentive to us than our own waiter. I wish I remembered his name because I think he should become a server. He was friendly, outgoing and very attentive. He never missed a beat. I sure hope this restaurant improves on the quality of food and service. I have always said if I want bad service I would stay home. We should have stayed in our room and ordered room service.
We went here for my husbands birthday. Had a beautiful table outside on the patio. The food and service were both wonder. As was the ambiance . Coco was our waiter. He was very charming and professional.
Our family of four with two teens with severe food allergies dined at this Italian restaurant in the Grand Hyatt hotel. Complimentary valet parking. We travel a lot and enjoy fine dining. We found the food to be quite good and very flavorful, although not cheap. The chef made gluten free pasta and paired with sauces our kids could eat, and they did a really good job managing all of their food allergies (milk, dairy, eggs, nuts, peanuts, sesame, gluten, wheat). We would definitely dine there again. Beautiful location, nice resort.
Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. Our waiter was awesome he took numerous pictures of us to memorize the occasion
