Donatello Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful authentic Italian restaurant. Service is best in class. Food is good to excellent based on what you might order. The appetizers were good but not great. Salads just ok and overpriced. Main dishes very good.
Overall it's hard to justify their prices. Special occasions only.
This restaurant is both the perfect setting for those seeking an Italian flair and a most magnificent place for excellent food. The service was excellent coupled by food suggestions that were absolutely perfect. Be sure to order the Tiramisu desert with their wonderful blend of coffee - there is plenty for two people to split.
This was a most enjoyable evening followed with a broadway play.
The rack of lamb for two is excellent. We were shown the lamb before it was plated and asked if it was cooked to our liking. it was delivered to our table exactly the way we like it. It is served with a delicious demi-glaze, and veggies were done perfectly.
This was the ultimate dining experience. It was my 70th birthday and I couldn't have made a better choice. From the time we entered till we left, we were treated like royalty. The ambiance was beautiful, not too loud, and the waiters attentive. So many choices. I had dover sole, my husband and son had cannelloni and my daughter in law, the filet. Everything was delicious. Presentation was lovely and portions just right. We cannot wait to return.
We were disappointed at Donatello's.... I had ravioli, My husband had clams in fettucini. His Ceasar was DRENCHED in dressing—even though he asked for "light" dressing. BUT most disappointing, they came to our table and sang "happy birthday"—even though our reservation indicated it was our anniversary—and offered a dessert. Then charged us $12.95 EACH for the desert. In my view. Sucked. We hadn't been in 10 years and won't ever go back.
I can not fairly rate or review Donatello’s as OpenTable failed to provide Donatello’s with my reservation. What I can do is rate OpenTable with 0 stars for their failure to provide Donatello’s with my reservation even though they provided me with a “confirmation number”.
One of the finest Italian restaurants in Tampa The live music in the bar is a great start to a fantastic dinner very comfortable and laid-back atmosphere Opera night is a very special evening for dining at Donatella's It is an experience you have to indulge yourself in
Atmosphere is great, service was top notch, food was amazing! Can't believe it took me living here 5 yrs to eat here! We will be back often! One of my favorite restaurants in Tampa now! If you haven't eaten here make reservations now! You will not be disappointed!
The service was impressive, to say the least. The food, however, was just meh. Honestly, I've had better from chain restaurants and expected better. For the price of the entrees, there should have been more food - such as a soup or salad to start. The bread served at the table was hard, crusty, and served with cold, hard pats of butter - leaving a plate of crumbs by the time it was done. Dessert was good, but again, not out of this world. The value was poor. We dropped $120 for a half bottle of Chianti, two "meh" entrees, and shared one serving of tiramisu. It was a nice atmosphere, but not worth the expense.
The meal and service were superb!! Went for anniversary, and all wait staff offered congratulations. Extensive wine list. I had the veal chop that was exquisite, and my wife had the grouper with lemon butter sauce, peppers, and crab meat. All were fantastically well prepared and delicious. Had a wonderful evening, and we will be back!!!
It gets tiresome to just say Donatello's was great again, but it was! Again! Over the years it is easy to become so familiar with a place that we take it for granted. Don't allow that to happen here. I always try a chicken or veal dish; I always try the Caprese salad; I always try one of their pasta dishes even if we share it around the table. By far, the best pasta is their bolognese fetticuinne and always works. My favorite veal is the picatta but the waiters will always work to find a nice glass of wine if you don't want to purchase a whole bottled. Still one of the finest in Tampa!
We’ve wanted to try this restaurant for several years, mostly on history and reputation. Upon entering, the decor, although tasteful, is very dated. I prefer a more contemporary atmosphere but that’s personal choice. The wine list is extensive and varied. However, many selections were overpriced, even for restaurant pricing.
We had a party of seven. Each person ordered different first courses and entrees. All were excellent. No issues with the food at all. The preparation and presentation were all top notch. The biggest problem with this restaurant is the prices are very high. We had 2 bottles of wine totaling $164. Subtracting those, the bill for seven people, no additional drinks, was $390, which to me is high for Italian food.
Bottom line, the food and service both are flawless. If you don’t mind the high prices, then it’s a great place to dine.
Haven't been to Donatello's in several years as we were living out of state much of the year. The place is still fantastic - the food, the people greeting you and serving the food and the atmosphere. This is the best place to eat dinner in Tampa, in my opinion...
