Good food but incredibly over priced and small portions.

I got together with some old friends here for brunch and loved that we could make a reservation and not get stuck standing on the sidewalk for ages. The service was excellent and the food delicious.

I was an hour late due to traffic, but they kindly seated us immediately. I have been there before and am never disappointed. My friends waited the long time comfortably in the bar with no hastle about the time. Good food, good prices, great vegan choices and wonderful chocolate dessert!

This is our favorite restaurant and we recently celebrated a birthday there. Words can’t describe how magical this place is. Each person who works there is authentic and kind. The food is exquisite and worth the price.

I’ve dined at Dona Tomas twice for brunch. The food is Amazing and it’s a wonderful atmosphere! I introduced my friends to this restaurant and they were so impressed. Next visit will be to enjoy their dinner menu. Can’t wait!

We had not been to Dona Tomas since we moved away from the Bay Area in late 2005. Our return visit did not disappoint! Still delicious "real" Mexican food and our kids even loved it, too!

Unremarkable. Food was nothing special or very interesting—bland actually. Service was pretty terrible, as if we were an inconvenience. Although the hostess was warm and welcoming. Was excited to try this restaurant and hoped to return in warmer weather for a patio visit, but after this “meh” experience, I wouldn’t bother.

We had Easter Brunch on the Patio on a perfectly beautiful day in Oakland.

Lotsssss of crying babies during our entire meal. Someone was sitting on a bench right next to our table and they baby was legitimately crying 5 inches from my face for at least 20 minutes. We madr a reservation and requested to sit outside but when we showed up they told us we had to wait 30 minutes so we chose to sit inside. Service was very slow. We got our food before we got our drinks and half way through the meal the drinks showed up. Our waitress also forgot part of our order and after I asked her it showed up 15 minutes later with the check. She never asked if we wanted anything else or another drink or anything. No one ever came by our table once the food was dropped to check in. Food was meh and like warm. We drove over from San Francisco and brought an out of town guest. It’s likely we will never come back here.

Excellent all around! The only downside was the noise level. It was definitely energetic. The service and food were exemplary.

i've always love this place! i booked a reso on open table and indicated it was for a birthday. the hostess called me to confirm and then asked for the birthday girl's name. they surprised us with custom printed menus that said "happy birthday tasha" -- such a sweet touch that made our experience top notch.

First off the food is straight up delicious. Was busy, but service definitely uneven on a Saturday night. Loud. Still would recommend.

Still the best margaritas anywhere in this area, hands down! And the chilled rellenos are always delicious and not greasy and heavily fried, like most places. It's always a pleasure to eat here.

Great brunch! This was my first visit and it was delicious! The churros are a must have. Will definitely be back!

Great food and nice servers

Wonderful food and drinks on a night when we really needed them. A sad family event brought us three together, and we found this a perfect place to have nourishment for our bodies and spirits. Carnitas and carne aside continue to be favorites, as well as the chilis rellenos. The margaritas can't be beat.

It was difficult to have a conversation among all four of us due to the sound level, but we enjoyed the food. Great service with the exception of giving us the wrong leftovers.

Excellent food and service. Their flourless chocolate cake is one of my favorite desserts in the East Bay.

They have authentic Mexican Cuisine, and truly an upscale experience!
The only thing that I’m not crazy about is the noise level, very hard to hold a conversation in the main front room. I recommend the back room pass the outside or the patio for better conversation!

Seated half hour late but lovely otherwise

We always love Dona Tomas. More creative and yummy than Tex-Mex, the food is terrific. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is warm and festive. Lovely people too!

Our food was delicious and the service was extremely friendly. The restaurant is a little dark and has a lot of hard surfaces. I wish it were just a little cozier but I loved the food and staff so I would definitely return.

We dined with an old friend. We brought our two young children and they were very accommodating by bringing out their meals immediately. We enjoyed the food and our evening very much. Great margaritas! We will definitely be back.

We have been going to Dona Tomas for many years, since soon after it opened. Always a good spot for flavorful mexican food. Great margaritas ("La Reina" and "Especial"). Always good service. We went this time to celebrate Valentines Day. By the way, if you like moles, they can't be beat!

We had a great time at Dona Tomas. The Carnitas were fabulous, and for cocktails, I highly recommend the El Matador. Spicy!
