Dona Tomás never ever fails me. The Mexican toast, chilaquiles verde and the juevos rancheros are just to die for. Keep up the great work.
I love Dona Tomas. Every single time. The dishes are inventive, delicious, beautiful. The Carnitas is worth writing poetry for!
If you drink booze, don't skip one of their tequila drinks. tasty.
It was delicious food and good ambiance, I am glad I went.
The atmosphere and service were excellent, and the food was generally very good. The Chile rellenos were outstanding but the chicken mole enchiladas were dry and tasteless. The mole was delicious but there was too little of it!
Keep up the good work! Consistently Excellent and a family favorite for years!
This is a well known cute little Temescal place. I was excited to try it and found it okay. The guacamole and chips were good. Carnitas was okay - a bit on the dry tip. The beans are either known for having no salt or didn’t have salt. It was odd. Husband ordered hash of carnitas, poached eggs and kale. He said the same. It was okay. Probably wouldn’t return but wouldn’t tell people not to go. It’s so popular that perhaps it was just an off day for what we ordered.
Would recommend if you get sat in the main room or the patio. If you are sat in the dive bar room then the experience is not as nice. Red walls are a bit abrasive and just make the already small space feel tight. Service was OK, food was tasty but took forever. To be expected at brunch I guess.
We sat in the back room.
The service and food were both delicious.
Being in the back I think it was a little quieter than the main rooms
Chili Chilaquiles Rojo is always so good, I get it with half the rojo sauce and it is perfect.
This was my second time going. The first time was to check it out. 2nd time was for my wife birthday...tables around us heard it was her birthday and broke out into happy birthday song, it was so sweet and made a special day even more special. Thank you!!!
Yes, I would recommend Dona Tomas. We were well cared for and had a 2 year old with us, so we appreciate that. This remains a favorite go to place for our family.
Wonderful service and great not too sweet margaritas, highlight the dinner here. The chips are hearty and flavorful. We particularly enjoy the carnitas and the chilles rellenos and the salad de dona. Our trusted standby when all else fails!
Cozy place with super well-done food. They are vegan-friendly; if there for dinner be sure to ask for the vegan plate which is not on the menu.
I wish they had more vegan options on the brunch menu.
The decor could be improved. The food is very good, but I’d like more choices of entrees. The margaritas were really good as well.
The service was great, and they very nicely split our entree for us.
With reservations! Way too noisy.
Car got broken into in the lot across the street while at the restaurant.
Food was delicious, but with the noise level, probably won't go back for awhile.
Thanks for asking.
This is a favorite of our for years. Innovated menu, consistent over the years and flavors that will keep us coming back. Truly a first class special gem in Oakland.
Annual memorial celebration. Great spot!
What a fantastic evening. From the moment we walked in the door, the night took on a surreal, magical quality. It could not have been a more satisfying way to spend Valentine's night.
Restaurant was good. However for upscale latin food I was expecting more. Luckily my wife liked the food[LOL]. Lastly, ordered flowers through 3rd party from Crimson florist and was not happy. The flowers were weak and some droopy on arrival to the restaurant. Bit of advice to any casanovas out there, bring your own flowers, cause Crimson isn't what I anticipated.
For me, best nouveau Mexican cuisine in SF or East Bay. Original and unusual dishes, adequate portions, attractive presentation. Accommodating and friendly staff. Good for business, romance, or just hanging out.
Brunch with friends. Great food.
We love dona Tomás and have been going there many years.
Super tasty food! Loud enough that it was hard to hear across the table.
we loved the food and the service but the noise level is sooooo bad!!!!! We couldnt hear our dinner guests and they couldnt hear us and they are young!!!
The food and cocktails were very good. The main problem we had is that we were seated in the rear “shed”, which wasn’t very comfortable (I swapped out a wood straight backed chair) and was loud. Also, the staff had trouble closing the door behind them as they came in and out from the cold rainy night. The other problem was that our second round of drinks did not arrive before we finished eating, so we canceled them and had dessert instead.
Visited Dona many many times. Still the same, always acceptable and worth repeating every month or so.
Excellent service. Great food.
The food here is delicious. Choile Rellenos to perfection plus ceviche and everything elase.
Only complaint is that the tyabkle we had overlooking the cooking area as you go in, was way too dak. Our table and the next one had to use flashlights to see the menu and the food.
Addint a light would cure that problem.
Otherwise, terrific place especially becaseu we hosted people from Costa Rica who loved the food...better than any Mexican restaurant in their home country.
Bravo to you all....and thanks for a great meal.
Thanks so much for making our family times special and working with our changing plans!!
Excellent lunch/brunch with delicious right-size portions that seem healthily made.
The food was superb, cocktails were on point- will definitely return. Recommend for date or special occasions
You can't find a better place to have a delicious brunch. Great food, atmosphere, and casual vibe. Don't miss the patio, its a fabulous spot which is super chill, quiet, and ideally sunny. Love this place.
My Pipian Mole Verde and Rum drink were delicious. My son who had the Carnitas loved it and it’s heartiness. I am sure how authentic it is, but the flavors are great.
This is the best Mexican food that I've had in a very long time!! I have been looking for another Mexican Restaurant similar to Senor Nero's for years and I have finally found it. The food and the drinks were excellent!!
Fresh food with lovely flavor. Much more than tacos and burritos. Fun atmosphere. Nice outdoor patio.
The drinks were great and the flavors of the food were awesome and creative!
Great food - every time!
Simple space and food presentation. Appreciated the uncomplicated plates of freshly prepared, traditional courses. Quiet on a Tuesday evening.
Friends birthday brunch. Her food was salty.
Always a favorite. Best carnitas and margaritas. Friendly service and atmosphere.
