Don Vito's Italian - South Point Casino Ratings and Reviews
I go to Don Vito's regularly and find the food and service always very good. It is quiet and comfortable with the ambiance of a fine restaurant. I have always found the food on the main menu to be excellent. This time they had introduced an additional all-in menu - a fixed price for a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert for early diners only. Most items on the all-in menu had the same name as those on the main menu, however, beware, they are not the same items. For example, chicken Marsala on the main menu is an excellent dish with a beautiful Marsala sauce, however on the all-in menu it is a single piece of chicken with almost no sauce - just a single slice of mushroom. When I checked with the server they confirmed it was a different dish, much smaller and lower quality to match the lower price of the all-in menu. In other restaurants the all-in menu is usually the same food as the main menu at a "bargain" price. Here it is less, and lower quality, food for less money.
Great wine selection at great price. A little too casual for a date night - families ileith small children, lots of baseball caps, and a loud casino host at the table behind us. Food was good, although "handmade ravioli Parma" was not great. Husband loved the lasagna. Would try again with different entrees and maybe a later reservation time to avoid kids.
We went for the summer menu. Two of us ordered the tilapia and were disappointed in the size of the entree. Three bites and it was gone. The green beans that were used to fill up the plate were excellent, but the fish portion, even for $20.00, needed to be somewhat larger.
Don Vito's is popular with locals in Vegas but tourists are often seen there as well
due to their reputation. The food is always good but prices have gone up lately.
Service is great and James, the front door host and manager, is impeccable with
catering to people and making them feel at home.
This was our second time for dining here. Our favorite part was the background music was just that. We were able to have a conversation rather than straining to hear each other as in other restaurants around town. Thank you management!
In addition the wine of the month was superb and reasonable.
My husband and I went for our anniversary and it also happened to be restaurant week. We chose that menu because they donate for charity. Appetizers - fried green tomatoes (absolutely zero flavor) smothered in a cream that was tasteless and unexplainable. The strawberry brucetta and Brie was not even toasted. Wow right ?? Main course - BBQ short ribs covered in a sauce that made them super over cooked. The broccoli rabe was overlooked. Onion polenta was the redeeming factor of that dish. The farfalle with shrimp and scallops was heavenly. So happy one dish made the cut. Dessert - tortuffo was delicious however the strawberry sour cream custard was basically over cooked.
The highlight of our evening ... our waiter. Jose was OUTSTANDING and his assistant Ulysses (I think that was his name) was equally attentitive. If I had a restaurant I'd steal them both !!
Don Vito's is a solid casino Italian restaurant. They don't try to be ultra-creative, they just do the basics and they are successful. Food was tasty, portions are large. The menu includes the expected items, such as Veal or Chicken Parmigiana, scampi-style seafood, and a selection of pasta dishes including Alfredo and Penne Bolognese. They also had a steak special the night I went. I believe the wine list is the same for both Don Vito's and Silverado Steakhouse. I enjoyed my dinner and would go back again.
This Restaurant helped us make up our minds to start staying at South Point when in Vegas....We have been staying at Gold Coast for 30 years and find the changes they have made over the past few years along with friends telling how great South Point was convinced us to make South Point our NEW go to place to stay!!!
Loved it, Mike and Sherry Bray
