Don Vito's Italian - South Point Casino Ratings and Reviews
This was the second time my husband and I have dined at Don Vito’s. Italian Restaurant. This time was not a good experience. We dined on Dec. 11, 2017. The positive things about the evening included the delicious bread and salads. I had the champagne balsamic dressing which was wonderful and my friend had the blue cheese dressing which she liked too. My husband had the shrimp, and scallops seafood dish which he liked. My friend’s fiancé had the prim rib which he gave a taste to me and it was a little dry. Another negative thing we noted was that because the rodeo was in town the restaurant only had 5 Italian dishes on the menu. My friend and I decided to split the bone-in rib eye which we ordered medium rare. It was was medium rare but it was too tough to eat so we both sent it back. They did take off the rib eye on the bill and the waiter did apologize for the meat. I do not think I will go back.
I would not recommend this restaurant. The server was very nice and we enjoyed her service but the food arrived cold. We were a party of 4 and we all ordered something different, but all the food was cold. Three of us just went ahead and ate it that way because we were going to the show. The other person had his sent back and reheated. I also felt the food was way overpriced. We will not return.
Took a friend for dinner who was visiting from out of town. We had a amazing, wonderful dinner.. We had the Chilean Sea Bass, not only was it a huge portion, it melted in your mouth. The wine of the month for $20 a bottle was fantastic as well. The waiter and helpers were amazing... we sat for 3 hours, drinking our wine, and munching down on some great food... Thank you to the staff at Don Vito's for a wonderful evening!
Service was excellent as was the food. It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and the waiter brought us 2 glasses of champagne and a signed card from the staff. We were very surprised and pleased they took the extra effort to do that. We really appreciated what they did for us, thank you!!! I don't remember our waiter's name, but we had reservations on Nov. 28th at 5pm...John and April Delabrer.
We have eaten at Don Vito’s with some regularity over the years. This is a very good Italian restaurant. The offering is not on the cutting edge of anything, but the menu is varied, the food is full of flavor and satisfying, and the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. The staff have always been attentive and friendly. And the large dining room is attractive and reasonably quiet.
We come to South Point every year for the PBR Finals and Don Vito's Restaurant is ALWAYS on our list to eat, we celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. It's the highlight of our trip. This year we went twice! Next year will be our 50th Anniversary and you can bet we will be making reservations at Don Vito's.
The food was well presented. I ordered a seafood Fra Diavalo dish. It wasn't spiced at all. The seafood was adequate and the linguini was well prepared. The appetizer of Calamari was very poor. They served a good sized portion but it was tough and the coating was greasy. The dessert was very good. The bread was not what you'd expect at an Italian restaurant. The servers were excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant. I wish the food was better. Two others ordered Shrimp Fettachini. It was bland. The shrimp was fresh but the pasta and it sauce was tasteless. I wish that I could give a better review but it is what it is.
We've eaten at Don Vito's a number of times - every time we've stayed at the Southpoint Resort it's been first choice for dining. If it's just 2-4 people, I would recommend asking for a booth - the booths around the back are nice and quiet, the booths along the front are better for "people watching" into the casino area. Food is very good but beware you get a lot of it, maybe good to share unless you can take some home or back to your hotel with you. Servers and staff are courteous and friendly. Nice ambience.
As usual the food was good. the three problems were they brought me the wrong item and the noise was very loud, that we had a hard time talking to each other. The last and important thing was I told them when I made the reservations that it was my husband birthday. he had to prove it to them.
Lovely dining room with very good service. The food just isn't very good. Bread selections tasted stale, and the dipping oil was unpleasant and chunky. We asked for butter instead. The fettucini Alfredo was bland, the veal picatta was grey, slightly tough, and lacking flavor, and the lobster fettucini had a tasty sauce and a fair amount of lobster, but the lobster was overcooked and rubbery, with several bits of shell and cartilage for extra crunchiness. The entire meal seemed like banquet fare instead of upscale dining. The high point of the meal was the salad with bleu cheese dressing. It was very good. The Caesar salads were underwhelming. All edible but a disappointing meal.
Ordered halibut off the menu..when brought to the table the fish was either the wrong type or a not prepared correctly. The waiter did offer me something else but at that point I had lost my appetite. Halibut is a fish I have enjoyed many times in the past at other venues.
