Don Quijote Ratings and Reviews
Excellent meal with our family, including young children. Carlos and Elena made us feel special and gave our family an unforgettable evening. Food was fabulous and they knew just what to bring us to eat--including some additional items we didn't order but they thought would be good for the little one. Delicious!
Loved our Dineing experience. Would highly recommend your Resteraunt to friends and family. Terrific food and Great atmosphere. Loved meeting the Chef. We will definitely be back again Thank you so much for makeing our dinner experience so great. Kim Hutchison.
Unbelievable dining experience...again and again....drove from South Bend...every time the experience is worth the drive...we are in love with this place, the food, the service, the romantic European atmosphere and the warm reception from the folks who own and run this fine restaurant...it feels like coming home.
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful date on Friday night without the kids. We used to frequent Don Quijote annually for my late father's birthday. He absolutely loved the place and would have conversations with Don Carlos in spanish, as my father was from Puerto Rico. It was hard to go back but I missed the ambiance, hospitality and authentic food, so my wife and I made it a wonderful date evening. Thank you very much.
Don Quijote never disappoints! Authentic Spanish food and very pleasant waiters and owners! We went for their Tuesday 1/2 price tapas and sangria. Everything was wonderful and delicious. A complimentary dessert and a glass of port concluded our meal. Will be back often!
One of the best dining experiences I've had in Indiana. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a jokingly fresh friendliness. Owners Carlos and Helena were fantastic. This is one of our first times eating Spanish cuisine, and it was worth the hour and a half we drove to get here. Our server explained menu items with exquisite detail. All of the food that was ordered was absolutely delicious. At the end of our meal Mrs. Helena was kind enough to light my Grandmothers candles and join in the Happy birthday song. Everyone in our party was pleased!, which is a rare occurrence. I enjoyed the food but I would definitely come back for the people. Make reservations prior because it seems to get busy on weekends. To quote the owner "if you don't have a reservation you will have to eat outside." This is a Hidden GEM in north west Indiana.
I went to Spain 4 months ago with my husband and daughter, and the food at Don Quijote was so authentic and similar to what we ate there that it brought back many memories. Every dish was carefully prepared and absolutely delicious. The waiters and waitresses treated my young children so kindly and even brought them popsicles before dessert. They also brought out free side dishes for us to try throughout the meal. Everyone who works at Don Quijote is so nice, including the main chef. He came out more than once to say hello and ask how the food was, and he even agreed to take some photos with my daughter for memory's sake. She loves all things Spanish, and this incredible restaurant made her night (and mine, too!). We could not be happier with the way we were served or the way the food tasted. Definitely worth the drive, and if we are ever near Valparaiso again, we will be stopping by for another taste of Spanish cuisine!
We were celebrating our sons graduation, and the restaurant and its staff were very accomodating. We had late additions and they were able to adjust their seating plan. The service was excellent and the food was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. One of our favorites in NW Indiana. By the
way the sangria was excellent.
Everything was great. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and one of the owners kept stopping by to see how everything was. Everything that was suggested to us was amazing. the redfish special, the wine for the table, the desserts, all fantastic recommendations.
Saw a billboard on the expressway and decided to go back for a birthday celebration. When we walked in on a Tuesday evening the place was very quiet - just a couple of other tables with customers. The menu contained many interesting choices. We started with an appetizer sampler. It was sufficient for two. The combination was excellent. The chorizo sausage was excellent as were the other items. Then we had the paella for two. It contained scallops, baby squid, shrimp, fish, mussels, crab legs in a lovely flavored rice. It was enough to take home a complete meal for two for the next day. Two types of sangrias were offered along with a full wine list. I had a white wine infused with apples, peaches, lemons and cinnamon. Very Good. The desserts made it impossible to say no. We ordered some to eat there and some to take home for the meal tomorrow. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some excellent Spanish food. I look forward to going back there.
Great place run by great locals. This Spanish restaurant may have the best food in Northwest Indiana. I personally go out of my way to have dinner here. The sangria is the best I have ever had. The food is completely home made and to die for. I cannot recommend this local treasure enough.
The food here is always first rate and spectacular. Service is always attentive without being intrusive. One of our favorite places to have a uniwuw and wonderful meal. Carlos and company never fail to add special personal touches to every meal. Big city food in a small city.
Once again a 5! This is our go-to place. The food was excellent. My husband and I got some tapas to share. I had the chicken croquettas and the empanada; my husband had the pork loin and garlic mushrooms, none of which was a disappointment. Several tables near us were celebrating birthdays, and the guitarists played Happy Birthday. Everyone joined in. It was like I imagine it would be at a local tapas restaurant in Spain. Elena and Carlos were charming hosts, as usual, and Elena's desserts are heavenly. By all means, try the port at the end of the meal. It is wonderful. As usual, we will be back!
This has been and continues to be one of my favorite restaurants for many years. The food is outstanding as is the ambiance. Carlos and Elana make you feel at home, like you are eating at their kitchen table with friends. You can't go wrong with Don Quijote's for any occasion.
Owners were extremely nice. We had reservations for 7:30. Table was not quite ready yet, but the owner offered us free sangria while we waited. We were also able to strike up a conversation with the Woman who is an owner. She was wonderful. We talked for an extended time about Spain and she was very genuine and caring. Food was very authentic. It was a long drive from our location but much better that BARcelona's in Indianapolis. The tortilla and croquetas tasted very similar to what you will get in Spain. One of the most authentic Spanish restaurants I have tried yet with the dishes we ordered.
We had reservations for 7:00. We arrived at 6:55 and were told to wait. We waited until 7:30. We saw another couple get seated before us who had 7:15 reservations. Once they finally seated us at 7:30, the table was too close to other tables and we felt like we were eating with them. We got up and left before anyone came and asked for our drinks after waiting for about 10 minutes. We have always had great experiences here, but this night was not working out well.
Extremely average, the food was ok. The service was also ok. The server was biased and didn't tell my table about the specials that were going on that evening. He also made a mistake in our order by putting in two appetizers, but I'm glad he did. Originally our party decided on calamari but we felt as though we could get that anywhere so we decided on the tapas as our final order. Thank God he brought out the calamari because the tapas were awful, extremely salty, and looked sloppy. The calamari on the other hand was divine. So we decided to order what is probably their house special which was the paella, for our entree. Nice size portions, but again very salty with crunchy rice, some people may like their rice crunchy but I certainly do not. So one we finished our entrees our server brought out a desert tray. Our party unanimously decided it would be a no on the desert. Once we told our server no, N-O, he brought out a sloppy unappealing, horrendous desert. It was the bread that was served in the basket before our appetizer drenched in wine, and drizzled with chocolate. Again, if you're into soggy bread this is the desert for you. Overall I would not attend Don Quijote the value wasn't great for the fair/poor service and food. :/ I just expected more.
