"INDIANA'S ONLY SPANISH RESTAURANT"
Our first visit, and it was a very nice surprise. The wait staff were courteous and took time with us. The atmosphere was elegant, and the food was great. A very enjoyable time. We will be back!
The ambience is nice and relaxing, making you feel as though you are on a street side cafe somewhere. All of the food was delish and the service was absolutely pleasant!
Restaurant was wonderful. Unfortunately they did not have my open table reservation. Wish I could review open table instead of this fine restaurant. If you are making reservations through open table you may wanna call the restaurant and confirm.
Food and service excellent as always. They provide the best selections and everything great
We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary and were given a bottle of wine at the end of dinner! We ate outside under a full moon. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Oh yes: the food was delicious. All in all, a special evening for a special occasion.
I had high expectations based on the menu and the pictures. I made reservations as it was our 30th wedding anniversary and stated so on our reservations. Unfortunately the experience was far from the romantic picture painted by the website. Our server was less than attentive and had to be reminded by another server to tend to our table. He did ask about, nor mention why we were there for dinner. When I asked him for a fresh cup of coffee after dinner to go with dessert, he only topped off an already cold cup that had been sitting there since before appetizers (which were so-so). My caramel sauce for the flan was burnt. They did not have the dessert my husband ordered. We waited forever for our check even though there was literally only one other table sat at the time. So bad service made our 30th anniversary dinner suck. But on a positive note, the flounder and the paella were good. So a good piece of fish and paelle cost me a $100.
Have been here many times and food is always great. However, the menu description for Paella Valencia does not match actual ingredients since fish is added to dish when it shouldn't be there. If you only want chicken and shellfish per the menu, make sure you tell them.
Overall, Excellent. Food was great, service just a notch below great. Prices average but overall a great value. Friendly staff. Owner is very friendly. Great spot!
Great service, the workers were wonderful and very respectful. Food was very authentic. Would highly recommend the empanadas. The paella was a bit small but delicious.
Had an absolutely terrific dinner at Don Quijote! The night we were there, they had a wedding party that occupied about 2/3 of the main dining room. So they were clearly very busy. But they still managed to give us attentive service and delicious, well-presented dishes promptly. The hostess greeted us with a gracious "Buenos tardes," and a choice of tables. But we saw many returning guests greeted by name with a warm hug. And Carlos himself - the chef and owner - made sure to come around to every table on a busy night to greet patrons and chat. If you can, have a poached pear in ice cream for dessert. And if Carlos asks if you'll have a port after dinner, say YES!
We had reservations and it took a while before anyone seated us! They were not that busy at the moment plenty of open tables! I ordered salmon and menu did not state that it came on skewers! I got tiny pieces of meat on it and for $27 I think I should of gotten a bigger helping! My husband ordered the crab legs and they were over cooked he couldn’t even finish eating them! Our other 2 guests didn’t like their food either! Flounder was also a very small size for the price and a cheeseburger was ordered and McDonald’s has a better lookin burger then what was brought out! Service was slow and they did not keep our water filled! Even the guy sitting at the next table was not happy either and walked out very upset!
Next time we are in town, we'll be coming back for sure!
Went to Don Quijote for my birthday. Was craving their tapas combo platter, homemade sangria and flan. Everything was delicious. Waitress and owner was very attentive. Love this place!
The food was amazing and authentic! The menu offered a variety of selections and it was difficult to decide what to order because everything seemed appetizing! The blackened salmon there is the best I've ever had! The sangria was also the best I've had! There was live music and the staff was attentive and friendly. The owner greeted guests and spoke to everyone as if she personally invited you to dinner in her home. I was impressed and look forward to my next visit!
Excellent staff always attentive
Outstanding food all choice's
The paella and sangria were delicious as usual! Always feel appreciated when we're go there. The owners always greet you and thank you for coming.
I was thrilled by my wife's reaction just to come in and be seated---I suprised her with this late anniversary dinner when we came to town for a concert at the fairgrounds. As "the only Spanish restaurant in Indiana" I was eager to take her here since she is a Spanish teacher by profession, though now is no longer teaching.
The atmosphere, professionalism of the staff, and the dining were wonderful. I would love to have been there for some of the music that is apparently performed on stage. We enjoyed the house salad, a flask of the red Sangria and a glass of the house Moscato (though it was a little drier than I like, but still nice) and the seafood paella for two. Had we allowed more time (the paella takes about 30 - 45 mins for preparation), I would have loved to stay for desert. Still, we will have to consider coming back for next year's fair and a return to this hidden gem. A definite recommendation , but allow time to enjoy the evening!
As always, the food, service and overall experience is exceptional.
Absolutely amazing as always. Carlos and his staff are incredible
Our group of 6 had a lovely evening at Don Quijote. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and the owner went the extra mile to make our evening great. He sent complimentary appetizers and shared some port with us throughout the evening. The food, as always, was delicious and the portions were a great value.
My wife is a Spaniard raised abroad and don Quijote has some of the most authentic Spanish food we've encountered anywhere! Their servers are excellent and little touches like providing an appetizer and simple dessert free of charge makes you feel like family rather than a customer. Highly recommended!
The paella was delicious, serving size was very large (paella for 2)
Love this restaurant
This was our second time dining here. This restaurant is amazing. The food is excellent. The owners and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. The live music is a nice treat, and it's not too loud. We were seated right near the stage and could converse just fine without raising our voices. Both our times here have been very enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food and extras they give you. Also, the desserts are amazing. Definitely will be going back again and again.
The was our first time here. Staff was welcoming and very attentive. We ordered the crab cakes and calamari appetizers. The were delish! When they brought out bread and a homemade potato veg side dish complimentary, we were over the moon!
The fried cod and baked seafood stew were fantastic. We couldn’t have been more pleased. When next in town to visit our son at Valpo U, we will make it a point to come back!
App wouldn't let me edit Noise level selection. The noise was low. Musicians that aged that evening were great. We always love going here. Don Carlos and his wife are always pleasant and happy to see us.
The food was amazing! It was my husband's first time eating there and Elaina went over the menu with him thoroughly. He loved it as much as I do and we will be back again and again.
We came to Don Quixote for a nice dinner before going to downtown theatre. Service was wonderful, had a great bottle of wine but food was mediocre. Hostess/owner was so nice...we told her we were going to the show and she told us to have a good time. Imagine our surprise when we got to the show, opened the playbill and there was a full page ad from Don Q. for 30% off your dinner when you show your theatre ticket???!!!! Wow.
Nice quaint setting with very attentive staff. The desert and port wine provided after the meal was a big surprise. The overall bill for the meal and the level of service was well worth it.
Always a great experience both in dining, service and atmosphere. Wide selection of wines, food, with very friendly helpful servers.
Be sure to get the Tapas. We had the Combo. Everything was delicious!
The food was great had the seafood paella wonderful. The desserts were delicious too. Chocolate hazelnut cheesecake mmmmm good.
From start to finish everything was delicious! Service was terrific too!
A truly perfect meal. The service was wonderful as well. The meal began with a complimentary salad and bread. We ordered a Spanish Syrah. It was terrific and affordable. We got a combination appetizer which tasted great and was a generous portion of sausage, potatoes, torte, mushrooms and meatballs. The paiella for two was FULL of fish, mussels, shrimp, crab and more. The portion for two could serve four! Dessert was followed by complimentary port. Two servers plus both owners came to our table. The singer/guitarist even played Happy Bday for my wife. Can't say enough about how great the night was in every aspect.
Everything cooked in olive oil!
Good but not what we expected.
We have been going to Quixote's for a number of years and I would say the food has always been excellent but has improved over time. It's probably the best place in the area to get reliably good seafood, but of course many other options are available. Carlos and Elena are the most hospitable restaurateurs we have ever met, they are friendly and care about their customers, kids and adults. Highly recommended.
A lovely experience! Lighting was just right; it is a quiet atmosphere, family-friendly with soft music in the background. Decor is lovely and welcoming. We were greeted warmly by the owner, and wait staff was knowledgeable attentive and friendly. Food was excellent! Knowledgeable wait staff was able to help us with selections . We will definitely be back.
One of our favorite restaurants in the whole world. Food is great, wine was fantastic, service second to none. We'll be back.
Carlos is an amazing host ... the best Port at the end of your meal and always stops by your table to say hello. Food is authentic and amazing !
