Dominic's Trattoria, Clayton Ratings and Reviews
We went to St Louis specifically to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and my had found Dominic's through an on-line search of area restaurants. Our meals were excellent, particularly my Veal Fontina - it was tender enough that I was able to easily cut it with my fork - superb!
Our server, Erma, also made our experience excellent. I don't know whether she's related to the owners family, but her sweet Italian accent and great personality made us feel like we were also part of her family. If you like Italian food, we'd definitely recommend Dominic's.
We all enjoyed the different dishes that we ordered. The servers were excellent at explaining items on menu and the service was prompt. We especially like Dominic's Trattoria because it's quiet enough to have a conversation and relax around a table with friends and good food.
My girlfriends treated me to a birthday dinner. I had lobster ravioli and it was delicious! Our server , Jonathan, was darling and very knowledgeable about the menu. My only regret was that I accidentally left behind a vase with flowers that my friend brought for the occasion. When I called the next day, it could not be found. Otherwise, a flawless evening.
We went to Dominic's for my wife's birthday. The food was outstanding and the service was very good. There were a couple of large groups there that increased the noise level and slowed down the service. I would definitely go back though; it's one of the best Italian restaurants in St. Louis.
Dominic's has been one of our special places for 20 years. Food was always wonderful & service great. This visit was a major disappointment! Took at least 30-40 minutes for server to take order. Lobster ravioli used to be special. What I had could have come out of a box. Tortilonni was bland, we asked for butter for rolls, took 20 minutes &2 requests to get it.
We like everything about this place....the people, the food, the atmosphere. It's a changing scene, sometimes hopping with young people, sometimes filled with older adults. The people who take care of you are the best, ever polite and welcoming....and always helpful. Everything on the menu is delicious, whether salads, calamari, carpaccio, all kinds of pasta, anti pasta, eggplant, many veal dishes, many seafood options, steaks, chicken, and so much more. Desserts, including Jackie's cake, all delicious. Come and visit. Then come again and try something else. Dominic's Trattoria is a favorite place!
I made a reservation on Open Table and when we got there a table was waiting. We asked to eat in the bar area but it was already booked for the evening. The hostess made it possible for us to sit in the bar area as someone cancelled. The dinner was delicious and the service was friendly and very efficient.
Went for Valentine's Day. Service was very good..only lacked friendliness/helpfulness of the greeter and waitress; fantastic job by everyone else! Dinner left much to be desired. Steaks and asparagus lacked flavor/seasoning - very bland. Tarantuffo was out of this world! Lovely place, but I do feel as though the meal was nowhere near worth the price.
We went to Dominic's as a special event (birthday) meal, also taking advantage of Clayton Restaurant week and the 3-course fixed-price meal that was offered. Dominic's specializes in traditional Italian haute cuisine. As you'd expect, the veal was exceptional, the first courses (in our case eggplant and cannelloni) were everything you'd expect from a fine Italian restaurant, and the dessert (Jackie's cake) was really special.
The sound level (while moderate by today's standards) was a bit loud for our taste, but we realize that we're decades out of touch with modern norms.
All in all, if you're looking for a fine Italian meal in Clayton, Dominic's is a really good choice.
