Dominic's on the Hill
The second floor of the restaurant is available for private parties of 15-65. Please call for details. Smaller parties up to 18 people can be accommodated downstairs as well as larger parties up to 150.
I found this a great experience for a solo diner who had read about the restaurant for years and resolved to try it when visiting St. Louis. Extra dry martini arrived as specified, cold and properly balanced. The dishes I ordered were expertly rendered--the beef carpaccio as good as any I've had and the saltimbocca veal preparation (made at my request with scallopine rather than the chop the menu set forth) was flavorful, tender and luxuriously sauced with lemon. Vegetable side a nice touch with sauteed peppers and roasted potatoes. The glass of moscato ordered as dessert a very generous pour. Dominic himself came to each table, and the team of servers was well trained, attentive but not obtrusive. They heated and plated the main course tableside--theatrical but fun. The dining room was pleasantly full on a Monday night--regulars seem to know they don't have to have a special occasion to come here. A great operation--bravo!
Starting with the most friendly valet service all the way through the personal service at the table, our evening at Dominic’s was thoroughly enjoyable. Food was wonderful and service impeccable. Prices are definitely on the high side for pasta, so for me Dominic’s is a special occasion place, not a regular date night dinner. That said, I’m still thinking about the fabulous linguini with clams three days later!
Always superb. Better than any Italian restaurant NYC. Veal piccata, salads, pastas, eggplant parm the best. A real celebration restaurant
attentive service, owner stopped by each table, food was divine
Upon entry we were greeted and seated immediately. We had our own little spot in the back which was very quaint and peaceful. The food was outstanding! Highly recommend the smoked salmon appetizer. We will be coming back!
As always, we had a wonderful Saturday night dinner at Dominic's. This is the best Italian restaurants in St. Louis' "The Hill" Italian neighborhood!
Impeccable service, the right level of ambiance, and the food.... the eggplant appetizer and the cannoli are a MUST!!!
First time there and had an amazing dining experience. Superb!
Overall a very nice meal. The veal melanese and lobster ravioli were great. The orange Valentino for desert was excellent!!! The Cesar's salad was a little weak on flavor. Great ambiance. Overall a very nice anniversary dinner.
The best Italian food in St. Louis! I’ve been going there for over 13 years on every business trip I take to St. Louis. They never disappoint. Food is amazing, staff is amazing, atmosphere is incredible.
We had a fantastic meal, brilliant cocktails and outstanding service, the trifecta of food!
Everything was exceptional. The Dover Sole Almondine was SO GOOD!!! So are the Oysters Rockefeller! We will be back!
I have always wanted to dine here! I was not disappointed! Beautiful place great ambiance. Delicious food amazing dessert and awesome wine selection. Service impeccable!!
Fabulous food, fabulous service.
Food was fantastic and the service was professional and friendly. This restaurant was everything we could have asked for while celebrating our 40 anniversary visiting St. Louis. Thanks again to the entire staff for a wonderful evening.
My sister was visiting from Boston and we had a lovely Saturday night dinner at Dominic’s. Gino provided friendly, impeccable service - as he always does - and the food and wine was delicious. The spinach salad was particularly tasty as were all the entrees. My wife and I have tried many restaurants on “The Hill,” and Dominic’s is by far our favorite for its ambience and consistently great food and service.
Great food, great service. Portions were a good size as well. Highly recommend the grilled salmon and the lobster ravioli! We will definitely be back!
The service and food were outstanding. The spinach salad was fresh and tasty. All of our entrees were delicious. We have tried a number of Italian restaurants on “The Hill,” and this is by far our favorite!
Quality cuisine with impeccable Italian hospitality.
Ambiance was beautiful but the service was not. Dined here for my one year anniversary on a slow night and it was obvious the waiter didn't want to be there. Asked for a drink menu and was told "they have a full bar" which indeed they did not. I've been to many "white-cloth" establishments where the service is a highlight, we didn't even want to ask him to take a photo of us. It was pretty upsetting service that could have affected a very special occasion had we not been gracious about it.
Risotto with Lobster was delicious! My son had filet and asparagus and cleaned his plate. I bit pricey, but delicious.
When we walked in, we were very happy. You could tell it was a very nice restaurant. Things started off well with the sommelier taking our drink order. The recommended wine was perfect. We got bread very quickly but the service was slow to say the least. The waiter who took our appetizer order wasn’t the same guy who took our dinner order. I’m still not sure who our waiter was. I asked for olive oil and Parmesan at that point and he said he would get it, but we never talked to him again and no one ever brought it. The calamari came out very quickly. It was good but nothing extraordinary. I really wanted a second glass of wine as I finished the first before we were served entrees and even though I moved my glass to the edge of the table so it would be obvious it was empty, no one asked. I finally had to ask for another glass of wine from the person who served our food, a different person from the first two who took our orders. He told the second server and he asked what I wanted. He came off very condescending and snooty for lack of a better word. We ended up ordering the two specials, a linguine with shrimp and scallops and a 14 oz sirloin with mushroom sauce. The linguine was delicious although not worth the $36 we paid for it. I think we could have had something similar elsewhere for about $10 less. The steak (which ended up being $45) was cooked medium rare as ordered but it was so tough and just not that flavorful. Still, we weren’t going to complain. No one checked on us or asked us how our meal was. The only people who frequented our table where the bussers, who were excellent. We asked the busser for a dessert menu and waited 10 minutes and no one took our order until the busser whispered to the server and then he came over. At that point, we were so irritated we just asked for the check. We spoke to the owner after waiting another 10 minutes to get the check, but nothing was done to make it right. $158 later, we are just having severe buyer’s remorse.
This was always my favorite restaurant on the Hill when I lived in St. Louis 25 years ago, and I was delighted to see during a recent visit that it is still going strong and still top quality. Our servers were highly attentive and friendly, even gently joking with our young daughter to put her at ease in this formal setting. The marinara sauce was unparalleled, the linguine with clam sauce was delicately flavored and generously heaped with tender clams, the tiramisu was the lightest, fluffiest ever, and the raspberry sorbet was tangy-sweet and unbelievably fruity. It was a perfect evening and a perfect meal!
Second meal at Dominic's on the Hill, both lovely. the food was exceptional and delicious and the ambiance is special -- formal yet comfortable. Only issue was with the service. It was a bit disjointed at times and after requesting the check and receiving it, it was 15 minutes before we could get the attention of a staff member to gather it from our table. I minor slip, but it did impact the enjoyment of the end of the evening.
Service and food were 1st class. Will return for sure
Service is always outstanding. The food is superb. Dominic comes to the table to chat with you and this makes full dining experience a treat
OMG! The food is amazing!!!
We started with an Italian pinot noir and salad. The salad's lemon dressing was sensational.
My wife's veal limone was incredible and my grilled veal chop was world class!
Nice side dishes of pasta -- one with garlic/herbs the other with marinara.
And Dominic's wife's dessert cake is sinful! You need dessert like that in your life!
Terrific ambiance -- feel like you're in a classic upscale restaurant.
Service was impeccable.....loved how the server warmed our entree dishes tableside.
the place is very classic, the service was second to none and the whole experience fulfilled all our expectations.
The service and setting were very good--restful for me and my staff after several days work in an intense convention setting. The vegetarian offerings were few and not very compelling. The food was fine and the desserts were much enjoyed. I wish the food had been as special as the rest.
Service was really disappointing, especially for the price of dinner here. Atmosphere & food were excellent though.
The food was excellent and service was great considering a packed house on Valentine's Day. We traveled nearly two hours for the treat. The staff was cordial and we had a great time. Good job. We'll be back.
Food was amazing, Dominic was personable and entertained with his wonderful Sicilian tunes. Gina (bartender/daughter) was a delight. Service was less than usual level--waiter was clearly distracted.
Delicious food with good portions and a good atmosphere. A little overpriced but delicious nonetheless.
Best meal I’ve had. Accompanied by the best service.
From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was very nice. Gina, our hostess, was exceptional. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive. Our food was delectable. We definitely will be back. Hope to hear the owner and daughter sing some opera next time.
Wonderful service and food was excellent! Would definitely go again.
Dominic's is a gem. Consistently the finest Italian food and friendship in 6 states.
Incredible food; excellent and welcoming service.
Outstanding food & service.
Food and service were fabulous!! Great Italian!!
