Dominick's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I were there to celebrate post Valentine’s Day, which I jad noted in the reservation. Initially we were seated next to the bar area. It was too noisy. We spoke to one of the managers to request a table change. He imediately changed us to the wine room, where the ambience was much better for the occasion. The food was excellent and the attention of Marcus, Omar and Jesus was exceptional.
Me and my boyfriend came here for Valentine’s Day and while the food was out of this world amazing, we got sat at a high top in the bar area and it took almost an hour from ordering to eating. The service is not very good in the bar area. We got sat here because I tried to change my reservation from 8:00pm to earlier and we showed up to do so at about 6:30pm. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fancy dinner date. I loved the atmosphere and dressing up. Definitely make a reservation though. As for the price, it was very fair for the quality of the meal. We got an appetizer that was plenty for both of us, 2 entees, a dessert, and went through about 2 bottles of San Pelegrino and spent just over $120. Overall amazing place I can’t wait to go back.
The food, atmosphere, service, and (surprisingly enough) value were way above our expectations, and I only regret that I don't live in Scottsdale so that I may enjoy this place much more often. I look forward to returning to Dominick's the next time we come to Arizona.
This was our first time here and had requested a poolside table; however, I did not know the poolside availability was only on weekends. We were sat on a two top table in a side section, not the bar, which was perfect. We got the choice between a white or black napkin which was unique. Marcus was our server. He made our night memorable with great recommendations and patience with our questions.
We started off with individually priced Colossal Shrimps and Blue Point Oysters which both had great flavor. We followed up our appetizers with our entrees of Wagyu Petite (8oz) Filet Mignon for my girlfriend, and I had the Colorado Full Rack of Lamb. Both were delicious and melted in our mouths. The entrees were served on 500 degree plates , which Marcus told us would heat up our entrees so we ordered Medium-Rare in order to get Medium. We had asparagus fries and King Crab & Shrimp Potato's which was a special side recommended by Marcus which we would have licked off the plate if the plates weren't scorching. After the best meal we've had in a couple months, we finished off our dinner with the house warm vanilla caramel cake which was good, but not to my preference.
Overall, the whole experience was delightful and very satisfactory. Our lemon drop martini and margarita on the rocks were well balanced and refreshing as well. Thank you Marcus and we shall be back again!
Fabulous dining at Dominick's. Nice casual pace with no rush. Shared a roasted beet salad and large bone-in filet. Sides were Dominick potatoes and asparagus. Also shared the seasonal fruit plate for dessert. Great food all around. No grousing about sharing an entree so increased the tip to equalize things, and the waiter thanked us for that. Great service as well.
Very classy restaurant without being stuffy.
Enjoyed our time at Dominick’s. Started with the pork belly appetizer. It was okay, not great. The rolls were delicious! The steaks were wonderfully seared, tender and flavorful. We enjoyed the side dishes of Brussel Sprouts and creamed corn brûlée. The corn was a bit sweeter than we prefer but it was still good. Beside the steaks, our favorite thing was their wine list. Great choices!!
I'd say other than the yummy rolls, I wouldn't pick it over the many other steakhouses in the area. My steak was good but so are other places like Bourbon & Bones, Roaring Fork, Fat Ox, etc. I just didn't think their other stuff (drinks, apps, sides, dessert) was as good as the other places. I dig the decor and space though, and our server, Mariah, was good. We had the following:
Elit Martini - okay
Old Fashioned - not even close to as good as Bourbon and Bones
Fried Deviled Eggs - good
Oysters - not shucked correctly: was still attached to the shell. the accompaniments were good though
Steak Farina - good
Bone In Ribeye - good
Mac and cheese - not good - so SO dry
Beet salad - good
Red Velvet Whoopie Pie - not good: the filling was tasty but the cakes were so dense and dry that we couldn't eat it
Coffee - okay
Close to $300 with tip and I've spent less at comparable places (like those I've mentioned) and had much better food.
Absolutely outstanding meal all around - service, food and ambiance. Included in this is the assistance from our server on a comparable wine to that we originally selected - excellent choice. I was the only one of the four of us that got steak (!); I got the small filet, which was cooked to perfection at medium-rare plus. My companions ordered the scallops and sea bass and everyone enjoyed their selection. Sides included mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts, all of which were great. We also shared a few desserts, which were a perfect ending to a great meal. Top notch experience!
First time at Dominicks. It is a sister restaurant of Steak 44 which we love. We were lucky to be able to score seating upstairs on the rooftop patio. Fantastic area if you are lucky enough to be there.
Service was attentive even though they were very busy on a Saturday night with the Phoenix Open in town. Jonathan (sp) was our main waiter and we enjoyed him quite a bit. The Manager also stopped by to see how everything was.
We both had steaks plus a few scallops and the mac & cheese. In addition we had the calamari appetizer. Steaks and scallops can on a sizzling hot plate so they were charred on the outside, cooked to perfection inside.
Definitely a nice fun place. We had a drink at the bar before dinner and there is a bar menu so that is also an option.
Approach this restaurant for what it is - don’t set yourself up for a shock on the prices or the total bill... it’s a place to say “what the f**k” and just enjoy the best apps, steak and desserts - with the best mixed cocktail. It’s not overpriced, but absolutely is expensive and absolutely worth it.
MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC!!!!! We frequent Steak 44 and Dominicks weekly and everytime the music is so terrible and every server and manager at both locations have stated they agree but Mastro won't play cool hip music.
It's a shame because if he would play hip updated music their business would go a few hours more.
We celebrated 2 birthdays at Dominick's. The food was as expected - great. The service and ambiance not so much. Our waiter messed up on drink and had to replace one of our drink 3 times before getting it right. We couldn't barley hear him with the high noise level in the restaurant. And finally he brought desert menus to the table after chocolate and vanilla sauces were brought for the complimentary deserts to celebrate both birthdays. We enjoy Dominick's and have returned multiple times but next time would request a quieter table.
Once you get past the strangely dated lobby, you will find every other aspect of your experience at Dominick's unequivocally world class. This Scottsdale steakhouse as the standard bearer for its genre, with a delightful decorative mix of old and new school and waitstaff excellence that sets the service bar impressively high. The menu and wine list offer choices for every diet, palate and wallet. Food prep and meal pacing are impeccable; I've never had a meal here that fell short of wonderful. There are dozens of steakhouses in the Phoenix area. None of the ones I've visited are the equal of Dominick's.
