Always a favorite for excellence in family style Italian dining. Amazing pizza, pastas and main courses. We come here often and will continue to. The Wine Bar has a great atmosphere as does the intimacy of the main dining rooms. Great service, value and experience at Dolce Vita!

We were a group of 8 eating before the Harlem Globetrotter game at GMU that night. All my guests were happy with their food except me. I had the Cavatelli Sardi which was very dry and greasy because the grease from the overcooked sausage was floating at the bottom of the bowl. Their tiramisu was delicious. I would go back again because I love Italian food, but I will not order the Cavatelli Sardi.

Excellent meal. Waited even with a reservation but there’s a full bar. Parking is limited. Valet available which is silly. Food was excellent.

Lights were way to bright to create a cosy atmosphere but the staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. There was a sommelier from a wine seller that jumped on us as soon as we arrived which was a bit much. Will go again as the food was great.

Overall we love this restaurant and went for restaurant week. All of our food was excellent as usually except the lamb special which my wife had to send back as it was very tough and fatty. They immediately replaced out with another main course which was delicious.

Love Dolce Vita, this particular night the whole block lost power. Staff brought candles, didn't miss a beat. I loved the ambiance and think they should have candle-lit evening once a week.

This was a nice place, food was good , desert was a little small for s 12$ “lava cake “ i have had bigger lava cakes from dominoes, but food was decent and prices were ok , the wine menu was a little pretty. The outside says one thing and the inside says another which does make it a little confusing when thinking of the ambiance but who am i to judge

It wasn't up to the standard I had expected. Was trying it out for the first time to see if i should bring guests in the future. I got the spaghetti carbonara and it was edible but not as good as what my Italian Nonna used to make. It had cubes of some type of meat in it and would have been better had it been thinly sliced. I will not be going again. Note, others seemed to be enjoying the food, perhaps they didn't grow up with good Italian cooks!

I understand and don't mind a Prix Fixe menu for especially busy evenings, but that should be shared up front when I make the reservation, not a surprise when I walk in the door. And a Prix Fixe menu at an Italian restaurant ought to include some traditional Italian dishes. Then to automatically add a 20% tip on top of the premium price and the tiny dessert was absolutely presumptuous. I might go back on a regular night, but I will not be going back on a special occasion evening.

We have had good meals here many times, but the Valentine meal was a bust way overpriced and mediocre. We spent $175 for dinner for 2 and it tasted like cheap chain restaurant food. The steaks were not properly cooked, the fettuccini was bland, the lobster claw was minuscule, and the desserts way below par. The cream bruele was tiny and the lava cake way undercooked. If this was our first visit we would never return. We have had meals here many times over the years and they were quite good, but not this time.

Food and ambience was excellent. Unfortunately, we received extremely poor service from the bartender that was covering our table. To the extent another server graciously ended up taking our order. The restaurant was very slow and there was really no excuse other then his inattentiveness.

This restaurant is underated. Excellent, non-Americanized Italian food with great homemade pasta. The arrabiata and fra diavolo sauces are actually spicy, unlike at many places. The special with lobster, fettuccine, and fra diavolo (or aurora sauce) exceeded my expectations with a LOT of lobster for the money. We enjoyed the bruschetta and tiramisu as well. The atmosphere on a Friday is tough for a date night, though. It was hard to carry on much of a conversation. It's also a very casual crowd. We'll be back in jeans midweek for an awesome meal without a pretentious atmosphere.

Treated at the door, told table was not ready and we could wait at a table by the front door and enjoy a beverage while we waited. Friends ordered beer and we ordered wine. Almost immediately after receiving drinks our table was ready. Upon seating noticed quite a difference between our pour of wine and those at other tables. Our server was quite busy and difficult to find when we needed something. Not the best experience. Have been here many other times with a much much better outcome. I will put this dining experience as just “one of those things.” Will return and hope for a much better experience.

Went in for new years eve dinner. Called ahead to ensure they were offering the normal menu for our 4pm reservation. Was rudely interpreted by "the manager" while ordering and was told they were not set up for the normal menu eventhough the hostess gave us the normal menu at our table. He then confirmed the kitchen could make our food. Fried zucchini came out with an empty ramekin assuming it was supposed to be marinara. Food was fine nothing special. Not a pleasant experience and won't be going back

Great food and service. We were celebrating my son's 21st birthday, and they had a flight of Italian wines to try. Husband got seafood risotto that was so rich and fabulous. I had Saltimboco, son had pizza, and other son had milenese. Everything was off the charts.
