   Doi Moi is no longer, "Doi Moi" . The chef inspired menu, is, chef-less. Portion sizes have been reduced but not equal to the price reduction. A new restaurant group has taken over and is taking what used to be a 14th street place to go into a place that I will not go back to again. Sad to see such great quality food misrepresented while the new owners attempt to figure their play.

   I've been a regular at Doi Moi for years-- this most recent visit post-merger was very disappointing. The quality of the food and ingredients were noticeably reduced. The food came out lukewarm and one of the dishes I'd had multiple times on previous visits was very different in flavor. The new menu items seem more like Americanized Thai-- like they're trying harder to appeal to the masses with this new menu. I think ownership made a mistake here, but I wish them luck!

   Doi Moi had been on my list of restaurants to try for a while, and I'm glad I got a chance to experience it. However, I'm not sure it was the experience I was hoping to have in terms of food. I know they are only on week 2 or something of their new menu, so they could still be making adjustments. We had some flavoring issues with some of our dishes—some were too flavorful and others weren't flavorful enough. We let the waitress know and the manager came by to solicit our feedback on the recipes and make adjustments. After making the recipe adjustments, they provided us with new plates. So the service was amazing and outstanding. Both our waitress and the manager were extremely attentive. The food may be going through some ups-and-downs at the moment, though.

   This was my first visit. I liked everything we ordered. The food is brought to the table family style, so l tried every dish. Excellent food. I do think the drunken noodles should be less sweet. The total with tax was $88 for 3 people including tax. Huge bargain in dc.

   The seafood coconut curry was excellent, as were the lime pie and strawberry mousse for dessert. They entrees were brought out as soon as they were done and served family-style, though the portions are about right if you want to eat them individually.

    I'd been looking forward to going to Doi Moi, the menu looked great on the website. My first visit was basically pretty horrifying. Sad food, seafood curry with some bottled shrimp and barely any other fish, not curried spicy. Very dry satays. The noise level was beyond crazy. I could hardly wait to finish the meal with 3 friends at get out of there. Such a disappointment.

    Food and wine were excellent. Service was great! We were curious about purchasing the wine we ordered and they gave us a few stores we could look into which was very helpful! We enjoyed everything we ordered and will definitely be back.

    Disappointed. This was not for me. Husband and I are both vegetarian and checked the menu to see there were multiple dishes we could get. I had my heart set on the jackfruit curry but it turned out they took that off their menu a few months ago and OpenTable didn't update. I hate it when the waiter says "we have a ton of veggie options!" but really, there is one in each category! I do not go out to a nice restaurant to eat fried rice, and the veg curry was ratatouille which is not what one wants when they go out for Asian. Besides those, there was only one veggie entree on the whole menu, some noodles. My husband and I had to both eat the same entree, how lame! It was mediocre imo and too spicy for a mild order. Also basically all Asian restaurants let you add tofu as a protein but they had no such choice. NOT veggie-friendly and generally unimpressive. Waste of Valentine's dinner! Also, my cocktail (which was $16) was less than half full, including the giant ice cubes. There were like two sips in the Toki, Smash. Very stingy! Not worth it.

    I'll start off by saying the food was excellent and our waitress was attentive. The thing that soured the experience was arriving <5 minutes of our reservation as a party of 2 and standing around for 20 minutes waiting to be seated without any explanation as to why. There was an empty 4-top within our view and we were never apologized to which was frustrating. In hindsight, I guess we should've just ate at the bar. I guess just make sure you arrive early to your reservation because if not, you should be ready to stand and wait for a bit or take a seat at the bar.

    We made a reservation for 6 pm on Saturday evening, and when we asked for a different table (available table small and smashed between 2 other parties), we were sat at the lower counter area by the front door. Once our server noticed us at the bar, we received mediocre service. But let me tell you, once we received our food, nothing else mattered. The food was well plated, delicious, and hot!     We were there for a business dinner. The female waiter was a scattered and forgot part of our order which she never realized and we didn’t get it. Another female (not sure who she was but her presentation was awful) came to our table and told us we had to go because other people were waiting. I n my entire 60 years, I have NEVER been asked by a restaurant to leave. There are ways to give tables a classy professional hint, which Doi Moi apparently isn’t aware of. I live in the neighborhood, the food is great. But I won’t be treated like that when I spend a lot of my hard earned money to go there. I won’t be back.

    We had a great experience. Excellent food and service. The chicken skewers were grilled perfectly and were tender. The peanut sauce was the perfect complement. The spare ribs were excellent and the garlic sauce on the Char Kuey Teow Noodles were excellent with he sausage and shrimp. We will definitely be going back!

    This is a terrific restaurant - nice ambience and a great menu that is super gluten and diary free friendly. Service was excellent and the take away box was an eco friendly paper carton. We will be back soon!

    Varied pan Asian menu offered "something for everyone". Bold and delicious offerings were attractively presented; the Beef Massaman Curry was the best we ever tasted! The service was excellent too. Arrive early and enjoy a delicious cocktail downstairs!

    For vegetarians at least the food was on the whole meh and overpriced. Of all the dishes, really only the tofu stood out and the rice noodles were just ok. Mango sticky rice was gimmicky with the blue rice. Beer was rationed out in small glasses. Guess they have to make their rent payments - I've had way better for less in the 'burbs.

    Loved this dining experience. I came here for restaurant week and had a sample of the 3 course meal . All the food was delicious . I love the waitress Kelly .     My date and I went out for Restaurant Week. I’ve wanted to visit this restaurant for years and finally did! The service was great, though we did have to wait a bit despite a reservation. They served us (and everyone) complimentary restaurant week cocktails and then we brought our drinks to our table. Everything we had was delicious! I will definitely be back.

    Went during restauraunt week and had a phenomenal meal. The variety of flavors and textures from different east asian countries was quite impressive, and everything was cooked perfectly. The ribs fell off the bones and our lightly fried snapper was perfectly delicate, not the easiest things to pull off. It was certainly popping when we went there and was a bit loud, but we were able to have conversation just fine and enjoy the whole meal!
