Dockside Restaurant on York Harbor
The approach to the Dockside Restaurant is all part of the Dockside’s charm. You are treated to views of the York River and the grand “summer cottages” as you turn onto Harris Island Road to reach Dockside Restaurant.
Chef Dennis la Planet has been recognized as a “chef’s chef”. North Atlantic seafood prepared with a northern Italian influence and aged steaks are just the start. Lunch features organic salads, creative sandwiches and traditional favorites; fish and chips, chowders and fried clams too
New England Seafood Chowder
A hearty native classic
Sautéed shrimp with garlic, fennel, white wine, fresh tomato and basil served over linguine topped with garlic spinach and shaved parmesan
Drunken Lobster Sauté
Fresh Maine lobster and sea scallops sautéed with shallots, herbs and an Irish whiskey cream served with herb roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetable
Just a perfect day. Beautiful weather, great location and excellent food, as always.
Our server hardly said more than 10 words to us. She didn’t greet us, or introduce herself. She asked us for drink orders and we didn’t even have a menu yet. She wasn’t overtly rude, but surely wasn’t friendly. The crab cakes were soggy...had no crisp at all. My salad came without dressing and when I asked the server for some, she said “I wasn’t sure what you wanted so I just brought you Caesar.” She plopped it down and walked away before I could respond. The salad was on the specials menu and was supposed to have honey lemon vinaigrette. It tools her 20 mins to take out card for the bill at the end, and she didn’t bid us farwell or give any indication of thanks. If the food was good, I could overlook the service, or vice versa, but in this case both were not great.
Close to Kittery yet it felt worlds apart. Quiet restaurant facing the harbor. So relaxing and great service. Good was delicious especially the bread! Loved the lobster roll.
Very good food and service. Bar was very loud.
We always have a fabulous meal at Dockside. Excellent service. Delicious food. Fabulous views. And in this crazy Pandemic, we felt very safe dining there.
Great place, great food, the harbormaster is kind of a jerk though.
A day trip to York Maine led us to Dockside Restaurant for an early dinner. Ordered the baked lobster & it was everything I imagined. Great flavor with lobster meat, scallops & shrimp. Sat outdoors on the patio overlooking the York Harbor taking in the beautiful fall view added to my experience. Our server was a delight. Always checking on us.
We got here early, 530PM, so the place wasn't too full. We had terrific service and the food was outstanding! Beautiful view of the boats in the harbor. Highly recommend!
I've been to all 50 states and foreign travels not to boost but to reference my many eating out occasions. The food was top shelf. The all important sauce with my drunkin lobster was Cordon Bleu-esque. And the location of York Harbor Maine, well take a pic its a post card! It was on par with Newport Ri. Sausalito. France Itay Greece pick your favorite water view.
They meal was excellent, outside seating made us feel safe, and the staff was attentive and helpful. I highly recommend the Drunken Lobster Sauté!
Our favorite Maine restaurant by far. We were seated on the screened porch with its amazing view of the boats in the harbor. Our meals were perfectly prepared. Julie, our server, was wonderful and very attentive. A very nice afternoon.
waitress was clueless and non-communicative
food was pretty good but not exciting
When we first arrived the whole restaurant was pretty much empty and they sat us next to two family’s with wild animal children. We asked us to be moved and the hostess was annoyed with us and tried to tell us that the restaurant was basically reserved. I told them that I would wait then because I refuse to pay to sit in a place like that table next to the family.
four out of the five meals were good. The fish was extremely overcooked.
the Duck outstanding! I believe the fish was a special so perhaps that added to the problem. Everything else was great.
excellent view . Server was great and food was good.
Great food and service in a beautiful setting. What more could you ask for
Beautiful place. Just what we were looking for on our Anniversary trip to York! Will definitely come back next year! ❤️
Wonderful evening and a delicious dinner at the Dockside. We sat outside on the porch. Delightful!
Great place to eat! Make sure you call before you go if you want outside seating!
Excellent as always..great atmosphere great food and service
We had a delicious and delightful dinner on the patio. Started with the fig salad which was so very good. I ordered the stuffed haddock and my husband had the tuna steak special. Accompanied with the best sides this was truly a wonderful meal. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our waitperson was Monica and she was courteous and efficient as well
The food, service, and view were all outstanding!!
Service was poor, limited gluten free food options.
Seated without waiting, view is beautiful, specialty drink was deliciously hand crafted and the flatbread was as big as a small pizza and wonderfully fresh! Will be back!
We love Dockside, but had a couple problems this visit. Charging $4.00 for bread, shame, short order of clams for $33.00 and tough, and the table next to us...you call it energetic we call rude. Party of 6 all talking the same time and loud. We could not hear ourselves think. The view is spectacular but I do miss the beer battered fish and chips, that was my favorite!
Loved everything! Yummy fried clams , super views, friendly wait staff!
The food was excellent. We both had shrimp linguini. The setting is beautiful and our server could not be nicer or more attentive.
Good location, lack of masks and distance between diners was definitely a challenge this evening. There was some type of wedding/rehearsal dinner going on behind us and protocols were not being followed by the guests. Such is life. Food was good, service was a little overwhelmed due to the event, but overall good. We would return if in the area again.
Everything was great!!!
This was our second visit to The Dockside. The food was amazing again! No complaints what so ever. We were seated indoors due to our request, as it was quite breezy outside. There was no issue with the move, and the meal was served timely with a wonderful waitress staff!
We sat outside on the deck. The sun was setting, so the ambiance was perfect. We both had the shrimp linguini. The flavor was amazing! There were plenty of shrimp and it was served with spinach.
Great food...Great service..Fantastic view. Highly recommend!
Nice evening. Food was good. The place is a bit dated inside. Next time have the maitre d where something other than sweatpants. Tacky. However, again, everyone was happy with the food.
Last day of vacation in Maine and we made reservations at Dockside for dinner. You did not disappoint. We requested outdoor seating and you delivered with a screened in area with a view of the harbor. Nice. All courses of Dinner were delicious and reasonably priced. From the bacon wrapped scallops, to the beef followed by the carrot cake, We saved the best for last. Thank you for a great last night of our stay. Will definitely come back when in the area.
Wonderful staff, beautiful views, and good food.
Excellent food and outstanding service.
The location is ideal, you are surrounded by a beautiful harbor and gardens. There were lots of choices on the menu, everyone ordered something different, and all enjoyed the food. The tuna was an outstanding entrée and Hickorystick dessert was a delight.
the food was great, staff was very friendly. must try the main lobster
great food, amazing view... best lobster/ scallop dish i have EVER had !! Def go again .
First time eating here. Food was DELICIOUS and you can’t beat the view. Right on the water. I had the stuffed haddock. It was the best I have had. The veggies with it were cooked perfect. My husband had fried clams. It was big and great! I would come back just to eat that haddock again!
We were not pleased that we were not able to seat on the outside porch. I mentioned
that on the open table reservation. They sat us in the middle of the 3 rooms.
It was noisy and the menu limited. We have been to Dockside many years ago and wanted to revisit the restaurant. The waitress was very pleasant and curious. Certainly a plus to your service. My sister in law's cod was not cooked enough ..my was fine.
