About Dockside Restaurant on York Harbor
The approach to the Dockside Restaurant is all part of the Dockside’s charm. You are treated to views of the York River and the grand “summer cottages” as you turn onto Harris Island Road to reach Dockside Restaurant.
The view is quintessential Maine, people hustling up and down the docks, gleaming yachts and colorful lobster boats in front of a rock and pine-tree shore.
Dockside is warm and comfortable. Hardwood floors, European style lighting floor to ceiling window and a new mahogany bar with an adjoining outdoor cocktail deck. During warm months seating is available on our harbor view screen porch. The atmosphere is casual but the food is serious.
Chef Dennis la Planet has been recognized as a “chef’s chef”. North Atlantic seafood prepared with a northern Italian influence and aged steaks are just the start. Lunch features organic salads, creative sandwiches and traditional favorites; fish and chips, chowders and fried clams too

Dockside Restaurant on York Harbor Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated our wedding anniversary with an amazing lunch at the Dockside. The menu had an eclectic mix of drinks, appetizers, and entrees. We were seated on the porch facing York Harbor on a stunning fall day. Very relaxing and enjoyable. One of our favorite restaurants in coastal southern Maine.
My husband and I ate at Dockside on a Wednesday evening. We asked if we could be seated near the window because of the beautiful harbor view. I had a shrimp scampi dish that was delicious. My husband ordered the baked stuffed lobster which he enjoyed. The food was great, the view beautiful and the service wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant and hope to return soon.
Beautiful setting on the harbor. Good was excellent ...classic New England fare and very well done. Service was very good as well....friendly and efficient. We stayed at the inn and then ate at the restaurant both nights. Very relaxing! We went on the later side and they were it of a couple of specials each night due to the crowd. We will just have to return!
We had a 5:45 reservation because we had our toddler grandson in the party. Everyone in the restaurant was very accommodating and other patrons were patient and friendly. On this particular evening the service was a little on the slow side (about 15 minutes from cocktail order to being served) initially. The restaurant was busy and once our salads came our waiter came frequently to refill water, pour wine and to clear. He was very sweet with our little one. The food was delicious and the view is "to die for" with a quiet harbor and boats coming quietly in and out. We will definitely return on our next trip to Maine.
We all had seafood, which was very fresh and good. They called us a week ahead of time to ask if we'd like to switch our inside seats to their screened-in porch, since they had a cancellation - nice option, and we took it! Terrific cocktails and a nice, personable bartender too. We liked it all.
This is a summer favorite of ours. The salad was excellent and we enjoyed the fish of the day and the scallops. The bread is terrific. The staff are so helpful and friendly! But the Saturday night that we were there it was so noisy due to several larger groups that I got a headache and wanted to leave before dessert. We couldn't even really talk.
The view is wonderful and the location is fun.
This is our go-to restaurant for an event we attend every summer in York. Can't beat the view. We are not fish eaters, so the menu for us is limited, but what they offer is good. We enjoy the outside seating area, most of which is screened. Great views of the water.
Very friendly and kind service but wait for food and drinks was extremely long. 25 minutes to receive a martini, almost an hour to receive a meal after ordering. Food was burnt and food that wasn't burnt was unappetizing. Staff was very apologetic and said they would take care of us...only removed one meal and two drinks from the very very large bill. Unfortunately this was supposed to be an anniversary dinner but the experience was so disappointing so we were too embarrassed to even count this as a celebration for the couple we were treating. Might be good for a drink while looking at beautiful view but that is all. We gave a full tip as our server had no control over wait and terrible food, plus she was so pleasant throughout the evening.
We were with visiting friends and wanted to show them the outstanding view and ambience that Dockside enjoys.
The food was outstanding and the ambiance was fantastic. There is probably no better view in York, Maine.
We feel lucky to be so close to this gem and will return again, and again.
A beautiful setting to enjoy an amazing meal ( drunken lobster was awesome!! ) We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and could not have picked a more perfect spot. Watching the boats coming into the harbor and enjoying one of the best martini's ever!! We didn't want to leave. I would recommend this to anyone.
Dockside has been a standard for several years and typically borders on outstanding. Dined there this past Sunday evening and noticed a little less attention to detail all around. Still wonderful but I want you to be great!!! -- return the individual servings of Sea salt and pepper.
Nice location overlooking a beautiful and classic Maine coast cove. Food was very good, though service in our case, was very slow - better than an hour to get our food. On the plus side the outdoor dining location was wonderful and we didn't mind the wait too much.
Everything about our meal was wonderful. The service stood out as being exceptional. My rum cocktail was terrific, our salad was delicious, the baked lobster was yummy and we loved our sea salt caramel gelato and home made blueberry pie. We sat outside overlooking the grounds for the Inn and the water. Highly recommend.
This is a low key casual spot with a gorgeous view of the harbor and ocean. My lobster was cooked to perfection and my husband's caesar salad with grilled chicken was exceptionally good. He also enjoyed the fish & chips (haddock) that was crispy and fresh. Service was very good, however the restaurant was not crowded when we were there. Wish we could have experienced dinner. Sit out on the screened porch and enjoy the views. Make reservations as this is probably a popular spot.
Unfortunately my fried oysters had shells in them. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he spoke with the chef. The response was "he was sorry but he has a new supplier". We also had stuffed haddock that was raw next to the stuffing it was wrapped around. Not a good experience and we will not be returning.
