The view is quintessential Maine, people hustling up and down the docks, gleaming yachts and colorful lobster boats in front of a rock and pine-tree shore.
Dockside is warm and comfortable. Hardwood floors, European style lighting floor to ceiling window and a new mahogany bar with an adjoining outdoor cocktail deck. During warm months seating is available on our harbor view screen porch. The atmosphere is casual but the food is serious.
Chef Dennis la Planet has been recognized as a “chef’s chef”. North Atlantic seafood prepared with a northern Italian influence and aged steaks are just the start. Lunch features organic salads, creative sandwiches and traditional favorites; fish and chips, chowders and fried clams too

Your app allowed me to make Thanksgiving evening dinner reservations at this restaurant however it was closed for the season!!
I expected a lot more. The location is great, yet the proprietor did not take advantage of the night time viewing opportunity to place landscape lights outside. All we saw were the reflections on the glass Bummer.
The food was passable, but not wonderful. It was not a good value for what we got.
A beautiful location and excellent food.
Michelle is the most amazing and friendly server! And Brandon is the BEST host! Best views in town!
The best food, view and service in York. Also affordable.
We were greeted with a smile and immediately directed us to our table over looking the water. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. one of the best places in York.
Dinner was excellent.. organic salmon cooked to specs and the roasted duck was wonderful.
But... the night would not have been as wonderful had it not been for our awesome waiter.. Timothy!! Thanks Tim for your picture taking, suggestions and overall professionalism!!
Multiple visits have always been outstanding. The food, service and ambiance cannot be matched for the price.
We go there often, best food/service and the views are spectacular (boats going in and out of the harbor)
Although anniversary occasion was noted in reservation, no mention of congratulations was made by hostess or by server. Ambiance was negatively impacted by one wait staffer loudly singing along with background music. Very unprofessional. Rib eye steak was very tender; drunken lobster saute was nice; daily veggies of haricot vert and shredded carrot were surprisingly tasty. Chowder was also a good creamy consistency not too thick with a pleasant seasoning.
First time at Dockside. Could have not been happier. When in the area we are sure to return. Thank you.
There is a hollow feel to eating here - ambiance needs some noise-absorbing changes.
A first time visit. We were seated next to two patio door that the help used so we asked to be moved and were accomdated immediately. Server was very pleasant and efficient. The food was good.
Excellent food and great service. The ocean view is spectacular
My wife and I dined hear a few nights ago and the waitress was very kind to make recommendations of menu items as well as local must do’s, as we’re from out of town.
There was a large party of young adults sitting nearby that was very loud and none of the staff seemed to say anything to them. It was a shame because the food and server were all great.
Our waitress was wonderful and the food was reliably good. We have been dining here for many years and always have enjoyed sitting on the patio. Unfortunately, we did not book the patio in advance and although we asked the hostess to check the availability, she wouldn’t and we were very disappointed to discover that two tables were unoccupied the entire evening. Im not sure we’ll return.
Wonderful lunch in a beautiful setting. Super screened in porch overlooking the water and boats!
The overall was lovely. It’s picturesque setting could be a painting. Portions for the scallop dish were small, 3 scallops??!! Service was slow but we were talking so it was tolerable.
Unique view of Your Harbor - best option if that is what you are looking for. Nice outdoor tables under screened porch.
Our food was very mediocre. I had the halibut and it was barely warm/room temp. We didn’t wait long for it, so it either was someone else’s order that sat there for awhile or it really was never fully cooked. Regardless, not worth the price tag.
This is a perfect little restaurant tucked away on Harris Islanc in York Harbor. This is our “go to” restaurant when there are 6 to 10 people. The service was outstanding and the food delicious. We definitely would return.
Had a reservation for outside on the porch but they sat us inside. Waitress was fine, but was very loud!
Well I looked at online reviews and saw that food was hit or miss. It was a big miss for me. Waiter said fried haddock was their specialty. It was very heavily breaded which was not to my taste. Lovely spot so the view made the experience. If I went back I would order something else!
We had a dinner reservation, but showed up early to have a cocktail in the lounge. We were immediately greeted warmly by the two bartenders who made a great cocktail recommendation to my wife. They also walked over to the hostess station to let them know we were there and they could come get us when it was time for our reservation. Right on time, the hostess came and got us and seated us at an amazing table. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very sweet. The food was amazing and we had a great evening all around.
The food was fabulous! The view was amazing! Our waiter had the best attention to detail. It’s a true Maine on vacation must experience!
Had a wonderful dinner at Dockside. It is beautiful to dine there. Great food good service. It is a win win night if you dine there!!!
The food was sublime. I had the drunken lobster. The service was very good. My waitress was friendly fast and efficient. I especially enjoyed the view, despite the rain. I was on vacation by myself and was completely comfortable dining by myself. The only complaint I had was the noise level. Not merely energetic but distracting.
As usual food was excellent and presented very well. Restaurant willing nh to let us sit inside when we were scheduled to be outside - too cold. Many good meals at Dockside !!
We went for a family birthday dinner. Everyone loved their meals. My fish was very dry unfortunately. I am not one to say anything, things happen! Our wonderful waitress (Michelle) felt bad and took it off the bill. We wouldn't hesitate to go back again, it was a very nice night! Desserts were delicious as well
Dinner was ok. The cod special was over cooked, Brussels sprouts were way undercooked. Flavor was good. The blueberry crumble was exceptional. Overall I would try this place again.
My wife ordered Shrimp Linguine and she abhors spicy food and this came too hot for her palate. She should make it a point to make sure whatever she orders anywhere that the dish is not too spicy, however, the real problem was that our waitress was non-visible and didn't come to check our satisfaction. We finally flagged her down as she passed nearby, but she was obviously not coming to our table. I had the ribeye which was cooked properly, but the whole plate seemed like it had been sitting for a while before table delivery. Otherwise, I was satisfied, but not wowed to any degree. The Linguine was graciously removed from our tab.
Gorgeous setting on York Harbor. Host accommodated us because the small tables located by a large group proved too noisy, but the screened-in porch was already booked. Open Table did not have this info on its website. Also not easy to find via GPS and parked our car along the dock instead of their parking. Nonetheless, host offered an outside patio table but was first-come/first-seve. We waited on the lawn in lawn chairs overlooking harbor. Fabulous. Food was good. Large menu with specials added. Waited some time for courses. Perhaps mgr did not expect that many on a Sunday night. Salad of peaches, greens, nuts and cheese delish. Sword fish, VG, roast chicken, tastey. Desert, out of this world. Wine, tall pours and reasonable.
Location is wonderful. Cuisine has some promising aspects.
Very loud and noisy. Salmon was dry. No avocado in turkey avocado sandwich. Asked for a coffee top-up and was charged for 2 cups of coffee
We finally decided to try Dockside and made a reservation for Friday evening dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary; the hostess and bartender seemed stressed and told us our table was not ready, and then we were seated at a table next to the server's station next to the patio doors-why did they even have a table there? When we asked to move to a window table, at first we were told they were "saving" the table for someone who had requested it-but after a second request they quickly moved us to a quieter location. We were thrilled and eagerly awaited to be greeted by our server.
Ten minutes later someone popped by our table to see if we had any questions- we assumed she was a manager-she never introduced herself as our server. Throughout the evening she approached our table and was most unfriendly; she took our order, brought our food, and basically gave us minimal attention. My husband and I made a joke of it thinking we were being punished for asking to be moved to a different table. It is too bad because the food was pretty good-but without good customer service a good restaurant is nothing. It is too bad because she ruined our evening. We were so distracted by her lack of service we couldn't wait to get out of there. The restaurant was only half full-my guess is they were understaffed and ended up taking it out on the patrons, or she was just terrible at her job. We travel and eat out often all over the country and this was by far one of the worst dining experiences we have had.
The scenery is lovely. And all in all our meal was good. But it was nothing special.
Always an enjoyable time.
Had been in last week with my wife and another couple.
Two friends that had never been in joined me yesterday they thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and food know they will return as they had a hard time deciding what entree to get.....so next time something new!
We always have a lovely time and our server, Lilly, was absolutely delightful.
Overall a really very nice dinner. I started with the seafood chowder, which was outstanding. So nice to see a chowder with milk & cream & not a ton of roux, which makes chowders too dense like porridge. There was plenty of seafood in the chowder. Richard had the mussels, which were excellent. The broth was nice & garlicky, with a nice Chardonnay finish. Really nice for dunking the bread. my main was the Drunken Lobster, which would hold it's own in any high end rest. in Boston. Chock full of huge tender Scallops & a sizable Lobster tail. The Whiskey cream was excellent. Our waitress said it would be hard to lick the plate. She was right, so I used bread to mop up some of it. Richard had the roast Duck a La Orange, which was easily as good as Café Escadrille. We were too stuffed to try a homemade dessert. At about $90 for the 2 of us it was a very reasonably priced meal for the excellent quality you got. We certainly would not hesitate to go back.
Ordered a salmon dish and asked that it be cooked medium rare. It is hard
To overcooked a oily fish like salmon.they succeded in making it to dry to eat.the
Lobster dish was good.
They ruined a special occasion!!!!
