Dockside Restaurant & Brewing Company Ratings and Reviews
We got together with colleagues for our annual Christmas lunch. We requested a table for 5 and were placed at a round table for 6 where hearing each other was difficult for the 2 on the outter circle. I noticed other round tables for 5. Reservations made 2 months ago. I ordered a prawn salad special dietary restrictions no dressing. The server agreed verbally then brought the salad with dressing on it and said “oh that was his fault” and back it went!!! Not as nice the 2nd time out. 3 people had the zucchini pasta which they didn’t enjoy with tomato based sauce. Otherwise ok lunch. Not up to par really. Expensive.
Although the staff was friendly and nice and allowed us to relax we were very disappointed in the food. My pancakes with the cinnamon sauce was blase. The sauce should have at least been seasoned better and served hot.
My friends soft boiled eggs were firm. More attention needs to be paid to the food even if it is not busy.
The view was great and the setting nice.
We've eaten here many times but it's been at least a year since our last visit. Unfortunately we will likely not return. Portions were small (our party ordered a pizza when we got home), pasta/curry dishes were very skimpy on the seafood and the server was overly patronizing referring to the ladies as "love" ad nauseam. We were there on a Saturday early evening and the place was dead. The views are still great but the value was lacking. Grateful that we were there with entertainment book coupons because I would've complained in person if we had been paying full price.
I was pleasantly surprised as had heard the food and service were average while the view was phenomenal. However, All three were great. I would return and recommend to others. It’s a relaxed dining experience (so not for a quick bite as the service is slower), where you can speak across the table without competing with loud music or other conversation from tables placed too close together. You can follow your dining experience with a walk on Granville Island.
Everything was handled well by staff. The coffee was only slightly warm and was made even cooler with the cold cream. Large open rim styled cups are not designed to retain the heat and perhaps cream closer to room temp plus hotter brewed coffee would be in order.
We had an absolutely wonderful 3 course meal at the Dockside on a Wednesday evening. Having booked in advance, we were seated inside near the gorgeous view of the Harbour to avoid the slight chill in the air. As a party of three, we have allergies to cheese and strawberries. Everything was perfect. From the starter to the delicious desserts. We highly recommend the Coconut cheesecake and the lemon meringue tart. Both were divine! Thank you to our server who was excellent at making sure everything was top notch, even knowing the menu and what each dish consisted of by heart.
food really good.
service ??? i had ordered a bottle of sparkling water and we were done. waiter brought another bottle over and i said i didn't want anymore. he opened the bottle anyway! didn't drink from it and didn't get charged for it but this wasn't a class act.
Arrived for our reservation 8pm the restaurant was not particulary busy, we ordered our drinks and food, whilst the drinks came promptly it was 9.25pm and we still had not received any food. We made a complaint to the restaurant manager the food arrived ten minutes later. Not sure whether I wanted to eat so late, food was good though.
Booked this and dined for the evening of 15th Sept for my wife's birthday. Great venue for outside dining with a wonderful view. Food and service first rate and would highly recommend for special occasion or regular dining.
Thank you to Ryan for the great service!
Food, service and ambiance were excellent. Everyone was spot on. I had a great table with an excellent view for dinner, I also ate breakfastg and lunch there the next day and was very pleased. Lunch was outside in the sun and enjoyed by all. I recommmend the Thai Bouillabaisse highly. This would be an excellent place for a romantic dinner followed by a walk around the island. Top notch. Well done!
I made the reservation based on several reviews. The view is lovely, and the atmosphere is relaxed. We dined early on a weeknight so it was quiet. We came early for drinks and to enjoy the view. The cocktail menu had nothing inspiring so I had a local beer (good) and my husband had a cocktail, which was drinkable, but not great. When the rest of our party arrived, we were seated at a table. Although outside tables were available, we were not offered one but we did have a nice view. The menu is limited. I asked about specials and told there were none. Appetizers were the HIGHLIGHT. The shrimp & crab cakes were delightful - crispy, well seasoned, and both the topping (fruity) and the sauce (lemony) complemented the yummy cakes. Seafood chowder was excellent. Salad was salad. The pacing of the meal was extremely slow - not quite so slow as to be a deal breaker, but it was pretty slow. We had to ask for beverage refills and the requested "coffee with the meal, please" for one of our party didn't make it. While waiting for entrees, lovely plates of lobster (not on the menu) were whisked by. I asked if I missed the lobster on the menu and was told that it was a special order, requiring a week notice - good to know for next time, I guess. Entrees were so so - smoked salmon pasta was OK. The waiter recommended the prime rib and it was good but the only thing to write home about was the amazing horseradish sauce! We had a few dessert options. The apple pie was really delicious - great crust and good flavor. I like my apples with a little texture and it was great for me; my husband like his apples fully cooked, so he didn't like it as much as I did. When I went to the ladies room, I saw a list of desserts for the evening, and we weren't given all our options. Oh, well... the pie was good. Some attention to detail is needed - frayed menus at bar and table, a little clutter around the pass and the bar. I would say this is a diamond that needs a little TLC and polish.
Great outdoor seating with shade and sun, and there are well-located heating lamps. Server was very attentive. The strawberry spinach salad was a hit. Salmon and halibut were delicious and portions were a good size. Entrees were in the $30 range. Will definitely go back.
