About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Neighborhood gem
Located on the waterfront where Granville Island faces the city, guests can enjoy panoramic views across False Creek to the world-famous cityscape of Yaletown and beyond to the mountains of the North Shore.

The open dining room is relaxed yet refined, wrapped in spectacular floor to ceiling windows, while the lounge offers warm intimate surroundings for evening cocktails.

The award-winning seasonal patio (patio closed October to March) catches sunlight from morning to afternoon and is an oasis of calm, disturbed only by the occasional sound of boats making their way along False Creek.

Whether dining inside or outside the views are stunning!

Food was tasty but prices were high. We had been anticipating “happy hour” but, unfortunately, Dockside had done away with this offering. We had been here many times in the past and love the ambience and the wait staff have always been terrific but the menu now is limited and is very expensive. And the absence of Happy Hour and its associated relaxed and easy transition into an evening out is very disappointing.

I had a very good experience at DOCKSIDE. The beet and walnut salad with cauliflower puree was wonderful. My margerita pizza was also very good. Our server Holly was very attentive , friendly and helpful. My friends cheese board was not exactly as descrfibed on the menu-- there no olives or nuts , and the "pickeld vegetables" were ...pickles. The board comes only with a few crostini crackers and might have been nice with a few slices of a baguette. Atmosphere both inside and out is lovely. Elegant, but not ostentatious. However-- inside on the wall that separates the kitchen from the dining area ( it actually is the waist high wall right below where the chefs work -- hard to explain)) is an aquarium with tropical fish. While pretty and very clean, I couldn't help but notice how narrow the tank was and I felt very sad for the fish. I was not the only patron who noticed this. The tank or tanks are long but I would say no more than twelve inches wide. And very sparse. To me the fish looked trapped and stressed. I have written to the restaurant and suggested rehoming the fish somewhere that will have more space and more water greenery ( there are fish rescues that do this) and replacing the wall with art by a local artist. It would be just as pretty and would benefit a local artist. Either that or use the tank as a water art dispaly without the fish. Other than the disturbinbg feeling about the fish my lunch was very good. I would go back.

The hummus and pasta were very good. The beet salad was forgettable. The steak, instead of medium rare, was well done. And the service was slow and perfunctory. The best thing about Dockside is the location, not the food or the service.

Honestly was not impressed this time around! As someone that has been going to dockside for years I feel a little ripped off with the quality of food and the elimination of the happy hour menu. Yes the patio is still the best in Vancouver, however I don't find the drink list appealing and the food was subpar this last time as well.

We were truly looking forward to our night out, san kids, our server seemed new, she tried to help where she could but the food was awful, we ordered the calamari and sushi to start, the calamari arrived cold and chewy, the sushi was good, then the Mediterranean platter, I have never had drier meat, anywhere, disappointing for sure!

Food was mediocre. I ordered the Cobb salad and it was so simple, chicken reminded me of a grocery store rotisserie, one egg, and then just pieces of lettuce on a plate with dressing. For $31 that was a complete disappointment. The service was also lack luster. It was not busy and the service was so slow. Would not return and would not recommend.

I've been coming to Dockside for many years and have been ordering the Cobb salad since it first appeared on the menu. On Sunday I took my husband for lunch for his birthday and we both ordered the Cobb. It did not resemble or taste the same as earlier this year. New Chef? The seasoned chicken was wet, not flavourful, the gem lettuce was not wedged as described, but the leaves were clicked apart and not properly dried after washing. The tomatoes were not sun dried, but squishy grape tomatoes, and bacon was sparse, as well as the fennel and blue cheese. Overall, a poor replica of what was on offer in the past. The salad portion was meagre for the $31 price. Sadly, very disappointing and was presented on a plain white cafeteria like plate, rather than the shallow bowl like plate used in the recent past. What happened?

I was really looking forward to my first time at Dockside, as I was wanting to go there for over a year. After working on my birthday and not being able to celebrate, my husband took me for a sunny Sunday brunch at Dockside. Their patio is amazing, food is good too. The only downside was service that could be better. Despite mentioning my birthday at the reservation and upon arrival, there was no little dessert or treats arranged by the server. Normally restaurants prepare something special for celebrations, but in this situation the server just wished happy birthday and that was it. Overall a good experience but could have been better. They didn’t go extra mile or above and beyond, just a normal service on a special celebration.
