The Dockside Grill does not accept reservations from Memorial Day Weekend through Columbus Day Weekend. Please call with any additional questions.
This was the second time for us and both occasions were first rate relative to service, ambience and food. We'll be back.
I love a la carte because I can eat wonderful food and stay within my food restrictions. However, on the entree menu, Half a chicken, 2 sides, and a sauce cost 27.00. If I choose Half a Chicken, 2 sides, and a sauce from the a la carte the same dinner would cost me 40.00. Not sure why they are bothering with hosting an a la carte.
Love Susanne G singing at Sunday brunch!
We had a nice table with a view of the bay. Service was very good and food was excellent. We really like the ambiance. We have been living in this area for over a year but just recently patronized the Dockside Grill. May be our new favorite place.
The three of us in the party all had great tasting meals. One had the special they run in the winter (an entre, a salad and a choice of a beer or wine). This was just enough for him. There are always two entree choices ( a fish or a beef or chicken). The other two of us had the grilled haddock on mushroom risotto. The fish was cooked well - very creamy and almost a melt in your mouth consistency. One of us had the accompanying aparegus, and the other choose the a la carte option so he had fiddleheads (!) and mashed potato. We then all shared a cheesecake which was super - creamy and sweet - admittedly, could have eaten the whole thing so just as well we shared! Service was attentive and no complaints. The only down side is that we were there at 6pm for our table, ordered, but weren't served dinner until after 7pm. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a standard practice perhaps. Anyway, if you know that going in, it won't be so bad. Would highly recommend! Note that they do not take reservations between Memorial Day and Columbus Day, so plan acoordingly. Also, depending on when you go, parking may be an issue -- not lots of spaces. We were there on a Thursday, and most spots taken -- we parked in amongst the stored boast in the boatyard. It seems we came during the tail end of happy hour, which accounted for the limited parking, plus it was extremely noisey for the first 30 or 45 minutes, until that crowd went away.
Food and ambiance were wonderful. But, why does it take 20 minutes to pick up a credit card for payment?
Wait, Wait, Wait, and Wait some more. That was our experience at this restaurant. And, what was worse than the poor service was the attitude that no one even cared that the customers are not being properly served. This appeared to be the standard operating procedure for the Dockside Grill. When I told the server that I had been waiting there for a full 20 minutes before getting a beer, she said: "Well, the bar is busy." Ha Ha, not even a "sorry." If you like being treated like no one cares, this is the place for you.
The waiter talk me about the real maine steam lobster, and I order, she thought that I was tourist, but I have been living in Maine for more than one year, and the end she served me several pieces of small lobsters with oil.. and lemon, like the losbtoer meat of a lobster roll, horrible.
I dont recommend this restaaurtant due to the waiter attention and food.
Many times Have met friends who live along the Coast from Blue Hill to Kittery...quiet most of the time...
Good food choices
We had a tasty night with great service and view of the cove. The place was packed!
As always, delicious food, great service, beautiful view!
Too many rules. Can't make substitutions on the entrees; won't take gift cards other than Dockside's (my MC debit gift card was denied); out of several of the listed entrees including one of the steak choices and whole lobsters.
We had a lovely birthday celebration with six adults at the Dockside. The service was excellent. Our waitress was lively, efficient and knowledgeable. She recommended an excellent wine for the table and checked with us throughout the meal to see that all was well. Appetizers, cocktails, and entrees exceeded expectations. I would recommend this restaurant for any season.
We had dinner upstairs in the dining area. It was a beautiful evening and we looked out at the water and the sky with lots of color. OUr waitress was friendly and everything came as we asked. lots of different entree's but i had the Salmon dinner with rice and curried vegetables and it was delicious. There were five of us and everyone enjoyed their meal.
As always-delicious food, great service and beautiful view!
Brunch was tasty
We had brunch on Sunday, March 24th, that was wonderful. Excellent Bloody Mary, and wonderful Eggs Benedict. We are going back this week so my husband can have the Fish N' Chips that he saw going by many times. Works for me...I don't have to cook, and I get another excellent meal!
We had a lovely dinner overlooking the ocean. Everything was excellent, the food, the ambiance and the service. We will be back.
A favorite of mine. Everything is solid with the esception of the noise level.
We like Dockside because of the food, service and view. During the summer the tourists can't find it so it's a great place to go for locals.
Friendly service and great food. Will certainly go back
Great Restaurant all around. Will go back again. Highly recommend
So nice! Steak was cooked perfectly and the view is amazing!
We absolutely love Dockside Grill and return regularly. The food is always fresh and amazing. The staff is friendly, helpful and inviting. It is always a great experience. =)
Service is declining for slow season....
We enjoyed our winter dinner at Dockside. The seafood was fresh and the waitress was friendly.
Delicious food with a gorgeous view! Great service. Server was personable and down to earth. 5 out of 5 stars!
Food was good - ambiance and view are beautiful, couldn't ask for better. Service was slow to start, our second waitress (Alicia) was great! Noise level was loud but there was a band for Sunday brunch so that's to be expected and we moved into that room because we wanted the music! Would definitely recommend and will be back for sure to try dinner menu.
Our server was not on her a game. I noticed she did not write anything down, which may not always work. I was given a bowl of soup and not a cup. She was surprised I had a bowl and said she charged me for a cup. I was actually charged for a bowl, which is what the kitchen sent out. My husband's meal was wrong and not what he ordered. She was not sure if that was him or her......bit of a freudian slip. We will go back and are somewhat regulars, but would rather not have that server again. Manager comped some of the bill which was nice.
Crabcakes may be the best in Portland: crispy, moist, flavorful. Service is friendly. Ambiance is lovely.
Birthday. Corner table with three children was perfect.
Service was great. Food was mediocre. Price was high.
The food was very good although my experience was not. I requested to substitute garlic mashed potatoes for a vegetable as I don’t eat potatoes. I was told that the chef has set the menu and would not allow substitutions. They could, however, not serve potatoes and add broccolini or asparagus for an additional $6.00. I am still dumbfounded. From the onset of our visit, the service was painfully slow. As we were leaving, we were told the wait was because they had several large orders. That information would have been more appropriate before or during the meal, and not as were leaving. Sadly, we will. It return.
All was great. I especially appreciate the gluten free options! We will return soon.
The food, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding! We will definitely be back!
We had an amazing time here. The live music was great and the food was even better. Great experience.
Delicious meal and great service! We will be back
A beautiful spot offering delicious food and excellent service .
One of my favorite place to eat!!
The food never disappoints, even if the only view is a full moon coming up over the water.
