All of our plates were consistently good. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the view outstanding. Our waitress was very friendly and provided excellent service. We can't wait to make this restaurant a favorite for lunch, brunch and dinner for all of these reasons and the menu choices.
The service was slow- it was under staffed on Sunday brunch time, we waited one hour after ordering and 20 minutes to get our tab,- meal came cold- the music was too loud for that small area we could not hear each other talk
The decor is very nice. Comfortable seating. Nice bar area. It was very busy on Sunday so the service was slow. I ended up getting my food to go. It was kinda noisy. I have been there in the evening and it is much nicer in my opinion. Quieter, no kids. The live entertainment is good.
I highly recommend it. I will become a regular.
We really enjoy coming to the Dockside in the Summer/Fall and eating outside, enjoying the views. The lunch menu has always been quite good, but twice now our evening meals have left us flat.....
My recent meal that I was unable to enjoy: filet of mignon, which I requested Medium, came well-done and charred. Completely inedible. Also, the asparagus was so huge that the stalks were like chewing on tree trunks.
I think we will reserve the Dockside for summer lunches for the near future.
Absolutely delicious and wonderful atmosphere . We will for sure make to make more stops there.
Dockside Grill is great for both lunch and dinner! The view is wonderful and accompanied by great service we always have an amazing experience. Our meal was perfectly timed so we could enjoy the food and not eat too fast. It was Valentine's Day and busy, but never felt rushed!
The winter specials are awesome this season. We have come more than we would have.
High season or off season, this is a favorite. Spectacular ocean views--in summer the patio is open and cannot be beat. In winter, the upstairs dining room is warm and cozy and still offers the beautiful view of Casco Bay.
The service is friendly and gracious, excellent cocktails and nice wine list. The food is above average to excellent, depending on the choice and the season. In summer, everything is bright, fresh, extra good. In winter, it's a little less exciting, with old favorites such as a delicious lobster bisque or baked haddock.
The atmosphere is perfect. You can always have a conversation over dinner, lunch, or brunch no matter how busy it is; it's never too noisy.
If you've never been, go. You'll come back often.
Had a prospective hire from South Carolina in town for an interview. Took her to Dockside for dinner. Everything was perfect music was just right, server was engaging and friendly. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Only thing that could have been a water view. May be helpful to have more dock lights or someway to show off your great views. Another thought might be waterfront posters on the window treatments that show what the view is like on a clear day.
Thx for a great evening! I think we landed her.
The Dockside Grill was a relaxed and refined dining experience. Wait staff professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. We will definitely return.
Server etiquette recommended. Server came over placed dirty plates on our table while taking
our first course plates and checking on satisfaction.
Went on New Year's Eve and while the food was not outstandingly innovative, it was solid and comforting. And frankly the staff was so nice and accommodating that even though I can be a good snob and I sometimes don't recommend "solid" places, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Thank you to all the staff for such a warm experience.
First time at this dining establishment. It was evening so we could not see the view. But it is on the water so will make a trip next time to enjoy it. Food was excellent, fresh and tasty. Our waitress was very knowledgable of the menu, offered suggestions and checked in frequently. Cozy atmosphere. Recommended it highly to our family.
great food and ambiance and excellent service. will be back.
Fresh ingredients and good selection of entrees. Perfect broiled rib eye and shrimp cocktail.
Food was excellent and service was extremely friendly and accommodating. We had our twin three year old girls with us in an otherwise very quiet and "adult" scene but the wait staff was so great with them. Great experience.
Were able to provide us with a reservation on very short notice. It was dark so the fact it is right on the water had little bearing. The quality of the food for everyone at our table was excellent. Service was good although our waitress had to be asked for things a couple of times. She was friendly and did check on us to assure each course was alright. The dining room was a bit loud but other than that the ambience was very nice and we had an enjoyable evening.
On a weeknight, this is a quiet lovely spot for dinner. Food is great, service is very good. You can have a conversation without shouting over the noise.
Busy night so service was a bit slow. Great location. Good food.
This was once my favorite restaurant. Our server was over loaded with tables and neglected to give moderate service. She never checked to see if we liked our meals when served. We had to find her to let her know a wrong meal was served. There was no apology as well. The food was mediocre at best. I think there must have been a change in management because nothing was flowing well and the quality of dinner has declined.
The Dockside Grill has a split personality. In the summer it is a lively bar scene on the ground level with great drinks and a spectacular view of the water. In the winter it is a quiet dining experience on the second level with a modern but cozy ambience. My wife and I prefer the winter. Reservations are recommended, but we have gotten seating almost any time in the winter. They have a flexible menu approach: you can order dishes the way they suggest, or you can mix them up the way you want. Food is very good, by the way.
The curried mussels were fantastic! Quiet weeknight, beautiful view until the sun set. Good service although the food took awhile to come out in spite of the small number of people dining. Overall, a very good experience though!
Food was good. Atmosphere was fabulous! Band was really good, although volume was a little loud and hard to hear my friend talk.
While we have had lunch here many times without any problems, the dinner was a bit off...slow service and the lobster bisque was tasteless and without texture....the staff seemed overwhelmed and concerned with the private event on the upstairs level....We will return again for lunch and perhaps try for dinner again...might call ahead to see if the Grille is hosting a private party.
Had a very nice dinner and the hostess and waitress were awesome! We would go back again!
Hadn't been to this restaurant in over a year and had only dined on the lower level - the upstairs is really lovely, but only available off-season or for special events during peak season. Don't get me wrong, the lower level is inviting as well, and the view as lovely.
We will be coming back over the summer!
Our dinner at Dockside was a pleasant, enjoyable evening. One we hope to have again. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgable. The food was as excellent as our view.
While the restaurant is very nice, and sitting in a window overlooking the water is very nice, our lunches were not. The haddock was heavily battered and deep fried; the fish tacos with jalapeno salsa were tasteless. While the presentation looked promising, there was no jalapeno in the salsa, the crema topping had no detectible flavor, and the corn tacos were soggy. The shrimp cocktail consisted of 3 large shrimp and a delicious cocktail sauce....but $12 for 3?????
A little off the beaten path, so regulars know about it, passing tourists less so. The BEST shrimp cocktail I have ever had, crisp. The sauce comes with little piles of horseradish, so you can set your own level of fire.
Been to the Dockside Grill a few times and as usual, a very typical experience. The environment is friendly and fresh, the service is upbeat yet professional, and the food is well prepared and served. I expect to get back there when the nicer weather is here so I can sit outside and enjoy the ocean...
I have enjoyed meals in the evening and brunch- have had meals in the winter in their upstairs dining room and also on the patio in the warm weather- very different atmospheres but all enjoyable. All three of us found the food delicious and well prepared- 2 of of used the mix-match choices and had a very filling meal. My son order a set meal and it was a bit "skimpy" even though it was delicious.
The food was fine, nothing particularly memorable, and the service was a bit slow for a mid-afternoon brunch with hardly anyone else in the dining area. But, it was a beautiful day and the view from the restaurant was beautiful.
The upstairs dining room is tranquil, inviting, and has lovely views. It's more elegant than the summer bar and grill scene downstairs. The menu offered, great choices, with most of our party choosing the Dockside Creation which lets you choose your protein, your sauce, and two sides. The salmon with chimmichurri sauce, garlic spinach, and roasted potatoes was a hit. So was the filet of beef with bernaise sauce. Gluten free is the name of the game-- a relief for some in our group. The only disappointment was that the very delicious hazelnut cheesecake did not have quite enough hazelnut flavor-- which did not stop everyone from enjoying it.
Impressive meal start to finish. Swordfish was well cooked, and the mushroom risotto, while a hair too salty, was perfectly al dente with a great mushroom flavor. Service was phenomenal.
Excellent quality food well prepared and served with attention.
Arrived at 6:30pm for our reservation. Table was ready. Upon walking in the door, we noticed the music was quite loud. A trio with keyboard, sax and vocalist. We inquired about a table with a little more separation away from the entertainment, but they really could not accommodate. We ended up in the room behind the bar - in about the middle of the room. Honestly, the band was so loud, it would not have mattered where they sat us. I love music, all types and frequently visit venues with live music, but for a dinner ensemble - WAY TO LOUD. We were seated and when the waitress finally came to take our drink order (nearly 10 minutes), I watched as my date ordered her drink. I could see her mouth moving, but could not hear her and I was seated immediately to her left. When we placed our food order, the server indicated that the music was too loud, there were three other complaints, but the band refused to turn the PA down. Luckily, they did take a short break for about 20 minutes. That was the best part of the meal. We would have had one more drink, but it was just too much.
It is too bad, the food was very good. I would be willing to try the restaurant again, however I am concerned if this were to happen again. I am sure my bill was not the biggest in the restaurant that night, however $150 is enough to spend and expect a quality meal in a comfortable and inviting environment.
Hopefully this feedback is received as constructive.
I had been once before and loved brunch. I recommended it to some friends to celebrate an event. We were seated at 11:55 for a 12 noon reservation. Our drink order was not taken until 12:40, our food order until 1:10, and we were served at 1:45. We didn't really enjoy our food because some of us needed to leave by 2:15. 2 tables that were seated after us, with parties of 4 and 5 respectively, were watered, fed and gone before us. This is unacceptable. I hesitated complaining because I had brought guests and didn't want to make a fuss. I put that I would recommend the DG because of what I checked off above, but if this happens again I will never return, nor recommend.
My daughter and grandson arrived a little early for our reservation. My grandson was a little cranky when we arrived. They were very understanding and accomodating...giving us time to settle him down. The food was awesome. My grandson loved the pasta with butter and cheese. I had the filet of beef with roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts....yummy! My daughter had the pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. I don't think any of us left much in our plates. We did not have room for dessert. Overall it was a great meal at a great restaurant.
Salmon was cooked well.
Haddock was dried out , panko coating made it worse.
Risotto texture seemed like it was made days ago and put in the microwave.
We'll definitely go back!
