Dockside Grill Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were looking forward to dining at Dockside for New Year’s Eve but were somewhat disappointed in our experience. The ambiance was nice , our waitress was very friendly and likeable. Unfortunately though, service was very slow. We each ordered the 8oz filet with scallop potatoes. I ordered mine medium, my wife ordered medium-well. Both steaks were excellent cuts of meat, but were served cooked medium rare. Our potatoes were flavorful, but also very much undercooked. If not for the fact we had waited such a long time for our meal we would have requested additional cooking, but instead kept quiet and ate most of our dinner. For the price of dining at Dockside, it’s unfortunate the chef wasn’t attentive enough to prepare our meal as requested.
To my surprise we were able to get a reservation for a Friday at last moment and my wife and I were looking forward to dinner at the Dockside because we had not been before. We arrived and were seated promptly. That's when things slowed way down, not a bad thing because we do not like being rushed, but it did take time between visits from the wait staff. We were there for about 20 minutes before a drink order was taken, 20 minutes before being served them and we were just over the 1 hour mark before we were asked for our food order. We ordered the brie appetizer which came after about a half hour with the pastry being charred black on 70%, not golden brown. Too bad, the brie and berry compote was good but the pastry not so much. My hanger steak was cooked exactly how I like it but the Brussels spouts were completely charred/burned beyond recognition or flavor. My wife's haddock was very bland and the risotto was like paste. Maybe they had an off night, we will see if we go back.
Absolutely delicious, I must eat gluten free and This is a great place for that. I had a luxurious number of options to choose from - and that is a rare thing! Lovely ambiance this evening - I arrived after the rush 😊 so it was very quiet. Fantastic service, I chose to sit at the bar and it was a very good choice, great service. I'll be back, the patio/downstairs opens tomorrow!
Extremely loud due to large party in same area. Waited over an hour for meal after ordering. Was told it was due to large party. Reservations were made so they should have been prepared. When entre arrived it was raw in center. Sent it back & got back another entre that was not much better after asking for cooked through. Waitress was pleasant and as helpful as she could be. We will not return.
I really wish we could give 1/2 star ratings as this would have been 4 1/2 stars, everything was nearly 5 stars, the only complaint or negative would have need unusually long wait for nearly everything but the waitress was very apologetic and the view, location, ambience and food quality made up for it. Also my girlfriend commented several times that she liked this restaurant 😃
All of our plates were consistently good. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the view outstanding. Our waitress was very friendly and provided excellent service. We can't wait to make this restaurant a favorite for lunch, brunch and dinner for all of these reasons and the menu choices.
The decor is very nice. Comfortable seating. Nice bar area. It was very busy on Sunday so the service was slow. I ended up getting my food to go. It was kinda noisy. I have been there in the evening and it is much nicer in my opinion. Quieter, no kids. The live entertainment is good.
I highly recommend it. I will become a regular.
We really enjoy coming to the Dockside in the Summer/Fall and eating outside, enjoying the views. The lunch menu has always been quite good, but twice now our evening meals have left us flat.....
My recent meal that I was unable to enjoy: filet of mignon, which I requested Medium, came well-done and charred. Completely inedible. Also, the asparagus was so huge that the stalks were like chewing on tree trunks.
I think we will reserve the Dockside for summer lunches for the near future.
Dockside Grill is great for both lunch and dinner! The view is wonderful and accompanied by great service we always have an amazing experience. Our meal was perfectly timed so we could enjoy the food and not eat too fast. It was Valentine's Day and busy, but never felt rushed!
High season or off season, this is a favorite. Spectacular ocean views--in summer the patio is open and cannot be beat. In winter, the upstairs dining room is warm and cozy and still offers the beautiful view of Casco Bay.
The service is friendly and gracious, excellent cocktails and nice wine list. The food is above average to excellent, depending on the choice and the season. In summer, everything is bright, fresh, extra good. In winter, it's a little less exciting, with old favorites such as a delicious lobster bisque or baked haddock.
The atmosphere is perfect. You can always have a conversation over dinner, lunch, or brunch no matter how busy it is; it's never too noisy.
If you've never been, go. You'll come back often.
Had a prospective hire from South Carolina in town for an interview. Took her to Dockside for dinner. Everything was perfect music was just right, server was engaging and friendly. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Only thing that could have been a water view. May be helpful to have more dock lights or someway to show off your great views. Another thought might be waterfront posters on the window treatments that show what the view is like on a clear day.
Thx for a great evening! I think we landed her.
