Wonderful menu and great service. The server quickly changed out my wife's' order as it contained gluten for another dish with no fuss and no cost.
Excellent food, good selection, nice ambiance, and friendly servers make this water front restaurant worth a visit for a relaxing meal. It is not a place to go if you are in a rush but definitely a place to spend time savoring the food and setting. We will definitely go again.
Enjoyed Dockside Bistro for the first time to celebrate my Mom's birthday. The food was delicious. Our server, Ben, was very well versed in the menu and gave great recommendations. We had a small snafu with my husband's entree coming out later than the rest, but it was quickly rectified and Ben comped my husband's wine for the inconvenience. Overall, nice atmosphere, great service and food. We will be back for sure.
We were in Olympia for a weekend away and chose this restaurant based on reviews. We had a fairly early seating but the ambience was still cosy and romantic. The service was great - friendly but not intrusive - and the food was delicious! Recommended!
One of the best meals I have ever had! The meals were absolutely cooked perfectly and the presentation was phenomenal!
Always enjoy this restaurant and have enjoyed a number of excellent meals there
Great atmosphere and interesting food.
Amazing food and service. Joshua took great care of us and helped make our Valentine dinner one we will always remember.
Great location. Has always been my go to restaurant for special occasions. Highly recommend.
My daughter took me to Dockside Bistro for my birthday. I have visited this restaurant several times and have always had a wonderful experience. This was my daughter's first visit and she was very impressed with the ambiance, the wine, our server and her filet mignon!
The house wines were quite good by the glass. The house salad was interesting and well done. The filet mignon was cooked to our specifications and was tasty and tender. The waiter was efficient and not too obtrusive. All in all, a pleasant experience.
We had the crab and prawns appetizer, very tasty except crab was a bit watery. I had the monk fish and risotto special, very good. My husband had Pear Gorgonzola Fiocchi with wild prawns. There were only two prawns and were smaller than those served with appetizer. Not much protein! We found the restaurant to be, not just cold, but freezing! I kept my coat on through dinner and noticed other people did too. We had a window table which would be nice in the summer but not in winter. The only light was a battery votive! We might go back in the summer.
We happened upon this lovely gem quite by accident, as the power was out elsewhere in the city, and absolutely loved our evening. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday, and she is a bit of a food snob. The menu choices were exceptional, the drinks (recommended by our waitress) were outstanding, and our waitress' recommendations for both food and drink were well thought out and absolutely perfect. We will return, as will our daughter with her husband.
In all our visits to Olympia, somehow we had never been to Dockside Bistro! I feel I've been missing out! Josh was our server and was very professional, helpful, and made us feel pampered. The food was exquisite! We've dined all over the world and this was some of the most perfectly prepared we've had! Can't recommend highly enough! We'll be back!
After 30 years this remains our favorite. Though a bit spendy the food never disapoints
Always a wonderful atmosphere, with excellent food, service and a creative menu. Also, a very good wine list with cocktails for those that choose to go in that direction. Highly recommended for a romantic evening or if you want to impress visitors to Olympia.
The noise level was moderate. The scallops were delicious. The service was great. We all had fun
Every dish we ordered was expertly prepared. The dinner hit all the right notes.
Food, service, atmosphere was very nice. Had salad and appetizers and wine and all were fantastic.
Truly the best meal we have had here in Olympia since we moved here two years ago!
Busy night, New Year’s Eve
Service slow, food not hot
Normally this place is great, I’m chalking this up to New Year’s Eve
We like to have time between courses but service was to slow, food was good. Waitress was very pleasant. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.
We hadn't been to Dockside in quite some time and decided to go for dinner on New Years Eve with another couple. All of our dinners were excellent and the service was good. We will certainly be returning.
Honestly I was not very happy going here for me second visit. the waiter refused to even look at my fiance when telling us about the specials, menu, etc.. also he was a bit slow and would not check in with us when checking the table he had to walk past us to get to. I was a waiter and that is wasted effort. The food was ok. I was very excited to have the Elk carpaccio. I guess the definition of carpaccio has changed as the elk was not 100% raw. As one of my favorite dishes I was flabbergasted it was cooked. Live an learn. I am sure Dockside does many things great. I just caught the ones that aren't.
This Restaurant’s Owner, Staff, Food is exceptional ! Hands down the best Restaurant in Olympia. The food is excellent .....flavors, presentation ....it’s a gem ...
We go there often In the last 10 yrs .....and it NEVER disappoints ...
Truly a unique dining experience !

Great food, great atmosphere, relaxing making for a very enjoyable dining experience
We would suggest that the lighting illuminating the restaurant name be brighter. We passed the restaurant by several times before realizing that this dimly lit place was our destination. Inside the theme of too little light continued. This actually made reading the menu hard. Neither of the two people who we dealt with from start to finish were especially warm and welcoming. In thinking about it later we wondered if there was ageism going on, but later decided that maybe there was some sort of crisis that evening. For example, that they were short -handed on a very busy evening. Despite this we enjoyed ourselves, mainly because on this night we were celebrating out 50th wedding anniversary and whatever we do together we enjoy.
Great, perfectly paced service and outstanding food! We are looking forward to our next visit.
My daughter and I came to Olympia just for a night away and chose to eat, for the 3rd time, at Dockside. Never have we been disappointed. The food is the best you can get - the service so very professional and accommodating. We had scallops and thought we had died and gone to heaven. I had the Humboldt Fog salad and my daughter had the Caesar Salad and both were unbelievably good. Highly recommend.
We were 6 celebrating 2 friend's birthdays. Everyone had a different dish, and all were very pleased! We do regret leaving a smaller tip than was called for. We miscalculated on the entire bill and only left 1/2 the amount. Our waitress was excellent - very accommodating. Is there a way to make it up? Thank you.
Always excellent in every way. We almost always do special events here. I feel kinda' unadventurous about that, but they're always so good.
This was our first time here and they completely exceeded our expectations. This was a last minute decision so called in our way to see if there was available seating. We were disappointed when the person who answered the phone said they were “booked solid, all night.” When I checked Open Table it indicated availability within the half hour so we booked it. The restaurant was very busy but a few tables were opening up. The young lady who seated us at a perfect table was remarkably gracious, courteous and very kind. Our server was outstanding answering our questions about menu items without clinging to us. The food and wine selections were phenomenal and presented throughout our meal with true artful professional. We are so impressed and look forward to many more great experiences at Dockside Bistro!
We chose Dockside Bistro to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We ordered the Calamari starter, that came with 3 dipping sauces which were excellent. The duck was also very good as well as the scallops. Our waiter, Joshua, was very attentive and we received our drinks and food orders without feeling we had to wait. I chose to leave a 20% tip for our waiter's good service using the suggested amount for a 20% tip (listed on the merchant copy of the receipt). I later discovered that the recommended amount for a 20% tip wasn't accurate When I calculated my actual tip percentage, it turned out to be 21.8%.
Wonderful atmosphere for visiting with family -- quiet, intimate and elegant. The menu was a perfect combination of PNW cuisine with choices for a variety of appetites. Wine list complemented the food choices.
The food was good but don't bring a big appetite, very small portions for the price.
They were incredibly thoughtful, including a signed birthday card waiting at the table
The food was very good. My only complaint was that the "crab chowder" didn't have anything to do with crab. It was ok soup, but it wasn't crab.
Scallops were perfectly prepared as was the steak. Although it wasn't particularly busy and the waiter did a good job, they could have improved service by having an additional server. One of my favorite restaurants in Olympia, night time it's a romantic spot for a date, and love the water view and boats during the day.
This was our first experience here and we were very impressed with our service and the food is outstanding! Creative menu that is high quality at a very reasonable price. Cannot wait to go back!
This was our first time to Dockside Bistro and we absolutely loved it! We were there celebrate my husband's birthday. He's a real foodie and raved about the food, atmosphere, everything! He had the seafood martini (appetizer) which was delicious! It was served warm in a martini glass and really looked yummy. I thought he might lick the glass! We both had the beet salad which was totally delicious. I had scallops for dinner that were so tender and tasty, and the sauce was to die for. My husband had the duck for dinner that he proclaimed was some of the best duck he'd ever eaten. We go out for dinner quite often so we have lots to compare this meal to. It was, by far, the best meal we have eaten in a very long time. We also appreciated the quiet, cozy atmosphere and our very nice waiter.
