This was our first time to Dockside Bistro and we absolutely loved it! We were there celebrate my husband's birthday. He's a real foodie and raved about the food, atmosphere, everything! He had the seafood martini (appetizer) which was delicious! It was served warm in a martini glass and really looked yummy. I thought he might lick the glass! We both had the beet salad which was totally delicious. I had scallops for dinner that were so tender and tasty, and the sauce was to die for. My husband had the duck for dinner that he proclaimed was some of the best duck he'd ever eaten. We go out for dinner quite often so we have lots to compare this meal to. It was, by far, the best meal we have eaten in a very long time. We also appreciated the quiet, cozy atmosphere and our very nice waiter.
Absolutely wonderful! Great wine recommendations and all five of us thoroughly enjoyed our entrees from seafood to my awesome braised short ribs!
My husband and I tried Dockside Bistro for the first time this last weekend. The restaurant was welcoming and very comfortable. The service was good, but our server could have been a tad more attentive when it came to our beverages needing refreshing. The food was exceptional. Everything we had was delicious! Just a note, because it is a finer dining establishment the portions are smaller, so I suggest ordering all three courses.
We will definitely be back to the Dockside Bistro. If you go, you won't be disappointed.
Love the food and the service. We had a window seat viewing the dock it was fun. I was looking for a nice romantic quiet place to talk and this was the place! we will be back!
Excellent food and service - as always! The pistachio crusted halibut is one of my favorites. Thanks for your attentive service and a wonderful evening!
Food was nicely prepared however portions were very small. Prawn dish had two medium size shrimp. Waiter errantly tabbed us for a bottle of wine that was $20 more than we had ordered. Removed from bill, but no real remorse.
Wonderful meal and great service.
This was our first, certainly not last, visit here. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. Service was prompt. Wine list was not overwhelming but good selections.
Pretentious to the eye, with nice waterfront views. The food is overpriced and as is usually the case with restaurants that are struggling for the upscale reputation, quite small portions. Service was mediocre, waiter seemed controlled and in interacting with him in a humorous manner he remained quite droll. Won't return for a second round at those prices, one shot was more than enough.
As always, the food was terrific and the whole experience was extremely satisfying.
Simply great food, properly prepared. Everything was prepared as requested. Dietary needs were honored. Server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the food and it's preparation. We will be back.
Excellent menu. Service on this particular occasion was not as good as I've had in the past.
They were very gracious when my granddaughter spilled and broke a goblet of water. I was so grateful.
Elk carpaccio was dandy. Halibut was cooked to perfection (ironically, my wife and I had just been railing against halibut as most everyone cooks it to a wood-like texture.) Service outstanding. Nice view of the harbor. Thumbs up all around!
Dockside Bistro is always a great experience! I can't say enough about the beautiful touch that Chef Laurie has with fish. Her food is always creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Thanks for an amazing evening!
Best meal I have ever had! My husband and I traveled by speedboat from upper sound, and had the Elk plate. Cant wait to make the trip again.
We go to Dockside Bistro often over the years, it's our go to favorite Restaurant by far in my opinion the best Restaurant in Olympia and surrounding area.
The ambiance, food ,service excellent !
An amazing Owner always giving back to the Community
My husband and I came here for our anniversary and I were very pleased. The server was knowledgeable and friendly, the food was exquisite, and I loved that they used fresh and local ingredients. My only issue was the "Basil Martini" that tasted like black licorice. Definitely was not a fan. We will definitely return, just order a different drink.
It was pretty expensive for what we got.
Friends from the Bay Area were in town and we wanted a nice dinner. It was perfect each dish was done well and presented beautifully.
We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday with a few of our adult (HA!) kids after a great afternoon of golf. I'd really looked for a special place to go--and Dockside exceeded every expectation. The entire menu is a sheer delight! We loved all of the choices, from appetizers, through entrees and then dessert! Going again as soon as we can schedule it!
Dockside is a perfect place for a special occasion with really good food and great service, both of which are so hard to find these days.
Wonderful meal, I am never disappointed when I eat at Dockside Bistro! Wonderful food and attentive staff!
Definitely great. We celebrated my daughter receiving her RN here
My spouse and I came here for our date night. The appetizer we ordered along with our meal was not to our liking and our waiter immediately took it off the bill and gave us a complimentary dessert to make up for it. Very good service. We were very satisfied. The elk was great, the bouillabaisse was perfect, and wine list was extensive.
Great entre. Salad average. Water hurried and a bit subpar for price
Great for appetizers and/or dinner. Portions are perfect. Drinks don't disappoint.
Very nice fresh fish offerings with creative presentations. Interesting regional wine list, fairly priced. Not inexpensive but good value.
The food was wonderful and the service exceptional. We'll be back!!!!
The wait staff were excellent, and the slow pacing of the meal made for a very enjoyable and unhurried meal. Unfortunately the food was only passable. Shrimps were overcooked substantially, elk was dry and hard in one case and medium-well on one side and medium on the other. Salt was rather dominant in the flavors as well.
We may go again, but we'd definitely try different dishes, just to give a fair shake. It could have been an off-night. But we'll probably check out other places first, to be honest.
My wife and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary at Dockside. The food was amazing and the service was on spot. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a couple. Can't wait to go back.
Disappointing, food and service not nearly as good as it used to be. Wondering what has changed?
The Halibut was exquisite, the chef did a wonderful job of putting fish n dumplings together...very..very enjoyable
Our server was good; but it took a very long time between courses. We were seated at 6:30 pm and finished our meal at 8:40 pm - that's how long it took to finally get our entree, after waiting nearly 45 minutes between it and the salad.
Met a friend for dinner and table was ready at the time of the reservation. Ordered the local IPA and Pale Ale to start. Took a long time for the beer to come and was in either a 10 oz. glass or 12 oz. glass but not a pint. Haven't had a draft beer that isn't in a pint for a long time. Had the Hot Artichoke Dungeness Crab Dip appetizer. The flavor, texture and blend of ingredients were amazing. Came out piping hot. Some of the best I've had. Before we were finished one of the servers came by to take away the appetizer and we had to tell them we were not finished. I think he knew the entrees were ready and wanted to clear the table. My wife had the Grilled Salmon with root vegetable and my friend and I had the Pistachio Encrusted Parmesan Whitefish which was Halibut. All was cooked perfectly and the flavors of the accompaniments was amazing. Congratulations to the Chef! The problem was that the entrees came out before we were even close to finishing the appetizer. Even a middle of the road restaurant know better than to do that. Also, since the beers were small, the glasses were empty by the time the entrees came so a second round was ordered but did not arrive before starting the entree. We ordered dessert which was the vanilla ice cream and a loganberry sorbet. Both were very good as a finish to the meal however, as we were finishing the waitress came by to say that they were sending her home so could we close out the tab with her even though we weren't finished. Again, not the best service choice. I gave 4 stars overall because the food was exceptional however of the restaurant wants to be considered a top restaurant the service needs to improve. I would still recommend however based on the excellence of the food.
Oysters were wonderful as was the Elk and the mussels
Expensive however but well worth it
We ate here while visiting Olympic National Park and was a welcome relief from eating at the crappy fast food places traveling from LA.
I always give Dockside a great review because it's really a wonderful place to eat. Had the scallops (one of my favorites on the menu) and we shared a calamari, which is always delicious. Love the sauces served with it.
Nice place, nice people, great food, wonderful view of the docks!
We had a wonderful (repeat) experience. They accommodated our request to change to a different table. Encouraged us to try Grapefruit-Rose - fantastic. Nice quiet, beautifully and subtly decorated ambience. Attentive waiter, not overbearing. Customized our selections. Loganberry sorbet - yum. Individual cloth towels in the restroom! Easy parking. We are fortunate to have this restaurant near us.
My Wife & I were celebrating our 7th Anniversary and We were NOT disappointed in our selection on The Dockside Bistro. We will be back!!
HUGE suggestion: You must have reservations otherwise you may not be able to ENJOY this Great Business!! Use Open Table for your Reservation
Dockside is where we go for special occasions, because the food and atmosphere are so wonderful albeit fairly expensive . We LOVE the lobster martini (amazing!) and my spouse was wild about the pistachio-encrusted halibut. And....a couple of things bothered me this time....one was that when I called for a reservation and the person said "We're super busy - can I put u on a brief hold?", of course I said yes....and she never came back. I waited on hold for...must've been 10min...finally hung up. I "get" being busy (I called on a Wed eve), but to not have someone respond...? The second thing was that the lobster martini, which is the MAIN thing I love there, wasn't as creamy rich or as full of seafood as it's been in the past. When u have high prices and specialty dishes on the menu like that, I would hope the restaurant isn't cutting corners and diluting (literally n figuratively) the experience.
