Dockside Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Honestly I was not very happy going here for me second visit. the waiter refused to even look at my fiance when telling us about the specials, menu, etc.. also he was a bit slow and would not check in with us when checking the table he had to walk past us to get to. I was a waiter and that is wasted effort. The food was ok. I was very excited to have the Elk carpaccio. I guess the definition of carpaccio has changed as the elk was not 100% raw. As one of my favorite dishes I was flabbergasted it was cooked. Live an learn. I am sure Dockside does many things great. I just caught the ones that aren't.
This Restaurant’s Owner, Staff, Food is exceptional ! Hands down the best Restaurant in Olympia. The food is excellent .....flavors, presentation ....it’s a gem ...

We would suggest that the lighting illuminating the restaurant name be brighter. We passed the restaurant by several times before realizing that this dimly lit place was our destination. Inside the theme of too little light continued. This actually made reading the menu hard. Neither of the two people who we dealt with from start to finish were especially warm and welcoming. In thinking about it later we wondered if there was ageism going on, but later decided that maybe there was some sort of crisis that evening. For example, that they were short -handed on a very busy evening. Despite this we enjoyed ourselves, mainly because on this night we were celebrating out 50th wedding anniversary and whatever we do together we enjoy.
My daughter and I came to Olympia just for a night away and chose to eat, for the 3rd time, at Dockside. Never have we been disappointed. The food is the best you can get - the service so very professional and accommodating. We had scallops and thought we had died and gone to heaven. I had the Humboldt Fog salad and my daughter had the Caesar Salad and both were unbelievably good. Highly recommend.
We were 6 celebrating 2 friend's birthdays. Everyone had a different dish, and all were very pleased! We do regret leaving a smaller tip than was called for. We miscalculated on the entire bill and only left 1/2 the amount. Our waitress was excellent - very accommodating. Is there a way to make it up? Thank you.
This was our first time here and they completely exceeded our expectations. This was a last minute decision so called in our way to see if there was available seating. We were disappointed when the person who answered the phone said they were “booked solid, all night.” When I checked Open Table it indicated availability within the half hour so we booked it. The restaurant was very busy but a few tables were opening up. The young lady who seated us at a perfect table was remarkably gracious, courteous and very kind. Our server was outstanding answering our questions about menu items without clinging to us. The food and wine selections were phenomenal and presented throughout our meal with true artful professional. We are so impressed and look forward to many more great experiences at Dockside Bistro!
We chose Dockside Bistro to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We ordered the Calamari starter, that came with 3 dipping sauces which were excellent. The duck was also very good as well as the scallops. Our waiter, Joshua, was very attentive and we received our drinks and food orders without feeling we had to wait. I chose to leave a 20% tip for our waiter's good service using the suggested amount for a 20% tip (listed on the merchant copy of the receipt). I later discovered that the recommended amount for a 20% tip wasn't accurate When I calculated my actual tip percentage, it turned out to be 21.8%.
Scallops were perfectly prepared as was the steak. Although it wasn't particularly busy and the waiter did a good job, they could have improved service by having an additional server. One of my favorite restaurants in Olympia, night time it's a romantic spot for a date, and love the water view and boats during the day.
This was our first time to Dockside Bistro and we absolutely loved it! We were there celebrate my husband's birthday. He's a real foodie and raved about the food, atmosphere, everything! He had the seafood martini (appetizer) which was delicious! It was served warm in a martini glass and really looked yummy. I thought he might lick the glass! We both had the beet salad which was totally delicious. I had scallops for dinner that were so tender and tasty, and the sauce was to die for. My husband had the duck for dinner that he proclaimed was some of the best duck he'd ever eaten. We go out for dinner quite often so we have lots to compare this meal to. It was, by far, the best meal we have eaten in a very long time. We also appreciated the quiet, cozy atmosphere and our very nice waiter.
My husband and I tried Dockside Bistro for the first time this last weekend. The restaurant was welcoming and very comfortable. The service was good, but our server could have been a tad more attentive when it came to our beverages needing refreshing. The food was exceptional. Everything we had was delicious! Just a note, because it is a finer dining establishment the portions are smaller, so I suggest ordering all three courses.
We will definitely be back to the Dockside Bistro. If you go, you won't be disappointed.
Pretentious to the eye, with nice waterfront views. The food is overpriced and as is usually the case with restaurants that are struggling for the upscale reputation, quite small portions. Service was mediocre, waiter seemed controlled and in interacting with him in a humorous manner he remained quite droll. Won't return for a second round at those prices, one shot was more than enough.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary and I were very pleased. The server was knowledgeable and friendly, the food was exquisite, and I loved that they used fresh and local ingredients. My only issue was the "Basil Martini" that tasted like black licorice. Definitely was not a fan. We will definitely return, just order a different drink.
