Family dinner in NYC. Very nice place and the food was very good. Not overly crowded, but a lot of apologies for the delays. Wish the food arrived hot. The quality and flavors were very good so we didn’t complain, but it seemed as though their waitstaff delays left our food sitting a bit once the kitchen had it ready.
Wonderful place for a special occasion. Food was a bit salty. Service was great
We went to docks on the advice of a good friend, and we're not disappointed. I had grilled calamari which was excellent very tender and not at all chewy. We would definitely return again.
We always enjoy our meal at Docks. The seafood is fresh and always cooked to perfection. We like the vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff . We are never disappointed.
Very nice service, great. We had a very nice time.
I asked to have our table for a business meal by a window. We were put at a table that was in the middle of all the waiters and I was brushed by numerous times by the waiters and guests and felt wind in my hair every time someone walked by. It was distracting and I would not come back anytime soon.
On the whole our food was great and our server Carly was lovely. The only disappointing thing about the evening is that the truffle fries were over cooked.
Delicious seafood - took a guest from out of town and he was very impressed with wine list and quality of his dinner from oysters to vegetable through the main course.
A solidly good seafood dinner. We dined on a Friday evening, and every table was full--reservations are a must. We were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately at a comfortable window table. Service was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. The menu was broad, and the specials were inventive. The seafood chowder was hot and creamy. The divers scallops were termed 'great,' and my mussels in white wine were properly cooked and amply portioned. Given the expanse of wood and hard surfaces, the sound levels were a bit higher than I would prefer, but you could converse without shouting. Would recommend, and plan to return.
It was a great evening celebrating the holidays with friends. Had the price fix, but afterwards realized that I did not receive the dessert
Lovely evening with a good friend
I love this place and it is my go to seafood restaurant in NYC. The service, menu and food are always excellent. I was a little disappointed recently when I requested at least medium size oysters and got small ones and they are not inexpensive. Other than that an enchanting evening.
Perfect except for noise level...but seems to be everywhere.
Oysters were rancid. Sent them back after spitting one out in my napkin. Asked for steamed spinach and got oily sautéed spinach with a "surprise".................a piece of napkin thread twirled in.
Never returning to what was a solid standby in years past.
Always excellent food and professional service!
Unfortunately the food was cold and presented in an unappetizing manner. It was a big disappointment and it explains why the restaurant was not full on Sunday evening.
Great service, delicious food. My date and I had a fantastic bottle of Riesling, though I wonder if our entrees would have paired better with a different white wine. That said, overall a fantastic experience, and I will definitely be going back again!
This place has changed sooooo much. I hadn't been here in about 5 years. The menu is very limited and not very representative of a high quality seafood restaurant. Anytime you find a lobster roll on the same page as grilled branzino, there's a problem. It used to be the closest thing you could find to the Chesapeake dining experience in NYC. Ordered smoked oysters and it took 30 minutes to get them. We finally chose to leave before ordering our entrees. The evening wasn't getting any better. Perhaps the ownership has changed but it's not like it used to be. The ambiance is the same but the new menu is seriously lacking.
Great X-mas dinner. Excellent food.
Service a bit speedy.
Everything was great!
Came to this Dock resturant after reserving a table through open tables. I came here in celebration of my mother's birthday. I explicitly asked the hostess (it was a gentlemen) if they do something special for birthdays and he said yes and that he would let our waitress know that there was a birthday at my table. However, I gusss our waitress Paige was never notified about it because even after we ordered desserts there was no candles or anything that came out with the cheesecake that we ordered. What's the point of going to a nice fancy resturant when they can't do something simple as put a candle on a cake when I made my reservations I included that there was a birthday.. Also, we ordered a couple of things including the oyster sampler which consisted of 12 oyster. When it came out I asked our waitress Paige W to please identify which oysters were from specifically where however, she coutdn't even identify the 4 different oysters apart except whether they were from the East or West coast...that was very disappointing because eating it I couldn't even identify which state the oysters were from...please have your servers learn to identify the different oysters. Overall the food was just OKAY. Atmosphere was nice but food was very average for their expensive price.
The food's great. It's loud. But I will not go back because they overcharged us on BOTH specials. When I pointed this out to the waitress she said something like "They always do this." Meaning this wasn't a one-time oversight.
I don't wish to do business with people who try to steal from me.
Great place for a business dinner or out with friends. Not too formal, and not too casual. Seafood is terrific and Clambake is good value. Little pricey on the beer list so stick with wine for dinner.
Great oysters and seafood. We enjoyed our evening at Docks
Our go to for seafood.
Outstanding oyster selection.
Wait staff very attentive and knowledgeable about their menu.
Always look forward to having dinner there when I’m in town.
Easy walk from GCS too.
Boring seafood (nothing different, just the same old, same old, only overpriced).
I love this place. Always come back to Docks when I visit NY.
Chose to do the Pre-fix menu. Hearty sized appetizer (fried calamari) and was good. Entrees arrived befor finished the appetizer.
Selected bronzino and the chef appeared to have charred one side. While crispy and no burnt flavor, the fish was not very succulent. Made me think I was eating cardboard as far as the tactile sensation.
Desserts are limited in the Pre-fix
Enjoyed an early dinner so restaurant was not very crowded. Was seat in a section with loads of tables for two. Would have been nice to have been seated along the windows.
I love having lunch at Docks everytime I visit Manhattan, its a must for having great seafood New Yorker style....
This is a neighborhood place for me, and my first choice when I want to eat seafood within walking distance of home. Like most New York seafood restaurants it's big, always packed during prime dinner time, and so fiercely loud that I feel sorry for the servers, who will undoubtedly all be wearing hearing aids by the time they retire. However, the seafood is marvelous. A bit pricey, but hey it's New York. Everything I've ever had here is fresh and well-prepared. Occasionally, the kitchen even pulls an agreeable surprise. For example, my dining partner and I ordered New England clam chowder. It was served in baked potato skins, placed in a bowl that also contained a few open steamed clams. Nifty!
Like falling into a time warp - very 1990s. Food was middling and uninventive, service was spotty. Our server disappeared for a solid 15 minutes at the end of the meal.
We made reservations at Dock’s because we were craving oysters & the reviews were good.
Our server was extremely attentive & helpful - we had some special requests & our server & the kitchen were very accommodating.
The oyster sampler we ordered were fantastic, the steak we ordered was cooked perfectly & melted in our mouths & the crab legs were wonderful! We also had an amazing dessert that was their nightly special.
We would highly recommend Docks!!
We would rate Docks with 6 stars if possible! Brian was our server who was polite to provide me with an oyster education session when I ordered the oyster sampler to teach me the difference between East Coast and West Coast oysters since we rarely get such fabulous fresh oysters in Wisconsin. We ordered phenomenal tasting scallops and Black skin sea bass on risotto and finished the dinner with key lime pie. The room is large but feels intimate with a large circular wooden bar in the center. Bar seating is available. Reservations are recommended.
Great ambience, crown, seafood and cocktail.
Perfect for a casual dinner with friends, a cocktail and oysters at the bar or a business meal.
Also, convenient location, very near the tunnel, away from the crazy Christmas crowd of midtown NY
Highly recommended, never disappoints.
The restaurant was crowded and loud, but we were seated quickly, which impressed me. However, no one from the wait staff came to our table. We waited for after 15 minutes and then left the restaurant.
Little neck clams, calamari and crab cakes were up to their usual high standards. The bronzino was overdone, hence lost some of its taste and texture. Service was very good, and we can always rely on completing dinner unrushed, but still able to get to our next destination.
Always consistently good. Food fresh, well prepared and menu interesting.
The cherrystone clams were cold, fresh & delicious.
We love Dock's. This time we just happened to be in the neighborhood and made a last-minute late lunch reservation. We relaxed with delicious drinks and salmon in a delicious sauce and crab cakes which are all crab and very little cake and key lime pie for dessert! I always enjoy Dock's. We had been t othe area for business and it was a great opportunity to relax afterwards.
ALWAYS RELIABLY GOOD SEAFOOD. GOOD OYSTER SELECTION
