This place has been my favorite since’90.
Pretty huge size of seating area so that you can choose by occasion. Raw bar always provides great oysters and clams. I still think of the best seafood in town.
Everything was great. Ryan, our waiter, was excellent.
I was a weekly regular ‘89-‘94 and try to eat there every time I’m in town. It did not disappoint.
Perfect for a business lunch. It was quiet, the service was excellent and food superb. You can't miss with this restaurant. We even had one person who was vegan and they were very accommodating. We all left a bit stuffed and very happy.
We were there for a Sunday
brunch. Very comfortable round table for six Live music, just right. Perhaps there could be more choices for Brunch, such as additional fish choices.
dinner out for three (a couple with a ten year old child). we had lovely food (the trout was delicious) the staff were friendly and accommodating and overall it has a great atmosphere. we will definitely be going back
Start with New England clam chowder that very good and hearty without being too much.
Opted the cod dinner which was very light, flakey and accompanied with an excellent side.
Our server (Jannell) was excellent and very personable. She was attentive without being intrusive. The other staff assisting with the table were very good.
Our meal was early evening around 6 pm so we most likely missed the crowd which made the dinner even more enjoyable.
Never disappointing. My favorite go to seafood restaurant in Midtown.
I must start by saying I have eaten at Docks now for a number of years. Great staff, knowledgable, professional, personable. The specials were spot on. The halibut and seafood risotto were excellent. Quiet for a Saturday night @ 6pm. But it did get busy by 7pm or so, there was a party in the back area, was not a bother at all.. Great place for business dinner and a weekend dinner. Good fresh fish all the time. Highly recommended and I know I will return.
Great consistent restaurant although lunch special at 36 is scimpy
Very good. Well prepared good choices.
Visiting from Nevada dinner with my nephew.
Great food and wonderful service (thank you Margaret) made for a solid dining experience.
Calamari no flavor, pulpo over salted. Will not return.
Arrived at 4 pm and we found out the menu was limited until 5. Had a few cocktails and 2 appetizers waiting for 5pm to arrive. Full dinner menu arrived, ordered and our food arrived lukewarm at best, same as the appetizers. Should have sent them back. This is a go to restaurant when we are in NYC. Maybe not next time.
Great place to have brunch with friends! Definitely a slept on area that has fantastic food, service, location, and brunch special. Will certainly be coming back for more! Amazing restaurant.
Fresh, delicious food coupled with outstanding service makes Docks the perfect venue for a business lunch.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant so we had no expectations other than the standard NYC experience. WE WERE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE. We started our brunch with Mimosas that were mostly orange juice with no discernible evidence of champagne and burnt mini chocolate muffins. We moved on to Lobster Roll Sliders that were mostly tasteless bread with a little lobster. Next we had New England Clam Chowder that was tasty but contained miniature pieces of clams with a large quantity of potatoes. My dining partner had the very enjoyable Smoked Salmon Omelet. I had the not so enjoyable Salmon Eggs Benedict with OVERCOOKED eggs. The coffee with our meal tasted burned and no amount of milk made it better. Our server was attentive but not overly inquisitive regarding our enjoyment level. I have a feeling the server was afraid of the answer to "How are you enjoying your brunch?"
Kyle the manager is outstanding and we give him high praise for us coming back and getting more of the best service in New York.
I’ve been there with my family and it was ok
The food was great and we all really liked it but the service was horrible. It took them such a long time to give us the appetizer. But the worst thing is that it took them 30 minutes to give us the wine.
Dock’s Oyster Bar was delicious. This was the second time I dined with them. It waa a business lunch and both my client and I were very satisfied. The ambiance during lunch a mix of business and tourists. The service and food were delicious. In spite of a dreary and rainy day the place was packed. Pleased I made a reservation with Open Table. Our food items were the Clam chowder, the Trout entree with mashed potato purée and green beans, crab cake salad. All choices were amazing. No dessert. I will return.
Docks has the best seafood Cobb salad on the planet!
The food, service & ambiance were all very good.
Saturday night is a pleasant, mature, and sophisticated crowd that enjoys conversing over a low key dinner of great food. Skilled servers don’t apply any pressure and are willing to make recommendations.
The roasted Brussels sprout salad is a perfect appetizer. The entries are uniformly good. And you don’t have to cut short your conversation when the check comes. Classy and uncrowded are two words I’d use to describe the decor. It’s a great place to meet friends and have a great conversation over dinner or drinks since the noise level is minimal.
Waiter was disinterested and food was average, not nearly as good as previous experiences at Docks. Would likely not return as prices are hugh for a mediocre experience
Wonderful prixe fixed dinner eith lots of options. Great service, nice selection of appetizers and entrees and dessert. It was a special occassion for a birthday and had added a candle. We will definitely return to yhus neighborhood gem!
Excellent service. Courteous and prompt with food and drinks. Bar staff was exccellent. An enjoyable evening.
Happy hour is a terrific value and makes a great pairing with a full dinner. Must sit in bar area though, however service staff is professional and gracious.
Service was not good. Food was good. Had the beet salad and the tuna sashimi.
Great menu selection, wine and beer pairings. Nice casual atmosphere and accomodations.
Always fresh, no mistakes. Service is professional. Can be noisy. They honor reservations.
The service was very slow despite the restaurant not being very crowded. We waited at least 20 minutes + for our second course to arrive. This is so unlike my past experience at your restaurant. I will chalk it ujp to an off day for staff. My guests were not pleased at all though.
Service was a bit off but the food made up for it. If you have the oysters make sure you get the medium size. Tbe smalls are very small.
WE had gone into the city last minute to catch a play. I was looking for restaurants near the jitney stop on 40th. We were in the front of the restaurant so we were able to people watch and enjoy our food. Our waiter was attentive and made sure we were taken care of I wish I remembered his name. Food was excellent will definitely go again.
Poor service and price & quality of the food do not match. Will not go again or recommend to anyone.
Fabulous birthday dinner for my lovely, beautiful wife. Many thanks!!
I have been a customer since the early 90’s. I recently visited on Labor Day in response to their email promoting Happy Hour from noon to 7:00 I made a reserv for 5:30 and was seated at a table. When I asked about Happy Hour menu I was told I had to sit in the bar area. The waiter then told me that there were no oysters at the advertised price. The mgr then told me that she was sorry. I will not go back.
Very good food and service
Ended up at the table next to the waiter stand. Steady traffic, loud discussion and they stored the platters and stands 6 inches from the table. The food was great, the service was okay. Other than our table, it would have been a nice dinner.
