Doc Ricketts in San Francisco, California takes its name from Ed Ricketts, the marine biologist who was a friend of John Steinbeck, and inspired the character, Doc, in "Cannery Row." You won't find a huge menu at Doc Ricketts, but anything you order will be perfectly cooked and attractively presented. Try the ahi tuna tartare or butternut squash soup to start, or perhaps some spiced nuts or mixed olives.
