Doc Bales' Grill
Was not expecting a $56/person buffet. Overpriced for the quality of food. The waitstaff and hostess were excellent, though.
It was a wonderful experience in every way. The food was great and the service was beyond perfect.
Getaway to celebrate daughter graduating and going away to college
Jazz was quite good. Mimosas were good. Some food was good...other items mediocre.
Birthday dinner with my princess
All you can eat crab were good but much better the first time we dined here.
Excellent food. Fabulous service. Nice light jazz music . . . We were just a little too close as I had some difficulty with conversation. Nice view of the beach/ocean. Took an enjoyable long walk on the “boardwalk” (actually pavers). Great outing. Highly recommend!
Very disappointed in this dining experience. Was unaware that this was a buffet only restaurant - would not have chosen if we had known but it did not say that on the open-table website. Buffet for one person was $40 and I was very disappointed in the value we received for that price. Already a little discouraged by our lack of options and being stuck having to eat off of the buffet, there was ZERO ambiance. No music, nothing. It was as if we were eating our dinner in a regular hotel lobby. Not worth the price, not worth the time, not worth the calories. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
I have lived in this area for many years and have just gone to this restaurant for the first time for my 25th anniversary! What a treat. Our server Kim was top notch and the food was amazing! I cannot wait to take my out of town guests here in the future. Great Job Doc Bales'
The seafood buffet was terrible. The prime rib was tough and inedible. They brought out 3 different ones and they were each just as bad as the other. The fish assortment was overcooked. The shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque were ok. They had crab legs for an additional $20. I’m glad we didn’t order them because $39.99 was so overpriced for the quality of food as it was. We will not be returning.
- food was great, but some dishes would've been even better if they were warmer...some of the buffet style food had been there for a while so it wasn't hot anymore
- overall pricing was great
- great ambience and noise level; live music was good, not too loud so you can still talk amongst yourselves
Unfortunately our experience was not what we had hoped for. The ambiance felt like a cafeteria. We paid $100 for the prime rib and crab buffet. The prime rib was very tough. The desserts tasted old and dried out. The crab was decent and the server was good. All in all not worth the $.
We did the Buffett on Saturday, the regular Buffett was 40 bucks and the seafood Buffett was 60. The food looked really good, but it tasted the polar opposite of how it looked. Nothing was seasoned and everything was dry. Not worth the 150 dollars I spent after tip. Also, I stayed the night in the hotel. The waiter didn’t even ask me if was staying in the hotel so I could save 15 bucks. That would have eased the sting of wasting over a hundred dollars on meal that my wife and I truly hated.
Very nice. First date debut. But not the last, partly due to the venue of the 1st. A great restaurant. Superb all the way around, Service, Food, Ambiance you name it...... Great for a first date or 50th wedding anniversary......
The food was amazing and the waiter was awesome. Thanks for the bday love!!
Great food, super and friendly service. Would eat there again.
We attended Doc Bales for a special buffet dinner for a smooth jazz weekend. The buffet had excellent selections, we were seated in the outside area which was very pleasant. The big memory is that Sean was our server and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this restaurant especially on weekends for the seafood buffet.
Food and service were very good.
Ceasar was an excellent waiter and took really good care of us. Will definitely be back.
The food was average, not much to select from, prime rib was tough only ate one serving for each of us.
Amazing Sunday brunch!! Very enjoyable and affordable.
Very pleasantly surprised. Excellent selection on the buffet and expertly prepared. More than worth the cost. I am sorry it has taken me so long to find this place. Definitely coming back. A 10 in my book....
Breakfast Buffet at Doc Bales is always great. Great selection and lots of hot, fresh food.
Great place. Can’t wait to get back. Great value. View was amazing.
Great crab legs were great but other items were mediocre. The prime rib was fair and the lobster bisque was downright bad. “Salad bar “ had lettuce, tomato, and carrots only.
Awesome! Great service and food! Window seat with an ocean view was nice!
Great oceanfront view. A lot of food variety. . Well prepared. Great brunch. Would highly recommend.
We had a great time .
The service and ambiance was super.
The menu have many varieties for adults and kids, and the staff were very friendly.
Nora the Manager also came and checked on us to make sure we were happy.
We celebrated my sister birthday, and the servers made it super memorable for us .
Thank you so much Nora and the Good Noura and the Restaurant team
We will be back for another stay soon.
The buffet outside of the crab legs were over priced. I ate one potato and a few shrimp for $39.99. I’d have rather just ate the crab legs, as that was the bulk of my meal. I understand the prices were separate, but made to seem as if combined. The crab legs were awesome!
The best crab ever.
Food was mediocre. Paid 14.95 for what I get at any other hotel for free. Then it was 21.95 to also get biscuits and gravy in addition.
The crab legs are always a favourite, we enjoy visiting with friends or just the 2 of us,we love the boardwalk and beach views
Overall the food was pretty good, however they did not have a real good selection of options for those who may not like seafood on the buffet.
The dessert options looked wonderful, but looks were deceiving as they did not really taste that good. Kinda sad.
The service was excellent and made our visit very worth the time.
My 40TH birthday dinner
The seafood bar and all you can eat crab legs are The best ever!
I would think for a $129.00 buffet for two with crab legs they would serve drawn butter for them. The 'butter' was gross, not sure what they used but it was cheap margarine like substance. Would not go back.
The food and service were both outstanding! The buffet was an amazing value for all that you get!
The sweetest crab legs I have ever tasted. Didn't even need to use butter. Other than the all you can eat crab legs the selection of other seafood was limited, but everything they did have was awesome. We will be dining there often.
By far the best crab legs on a buffet I have ever had. The service from the front desk to the server was excellent!! The price was great and I will go again!
