Dizz’s is exceptionally good - food is declicious, service impeccable and love the quaint atmosphere...it’s the 3rd time we have been there and is still the best in the area
Always excellent...wonderful menu, great food, great staff
This place is quirky, fun, and delicious. It's one of our monthly must haves. Highly recommended and Erika is the BEST wait person you can ever ask for!
Charming place with a unique nightly menu. Locals place with good food and hospitable service
We've dined at Dizz's for over 35 years now, making a point to stop in every few months for the unique experience that is Dizz's. The ambience is eclectic to be sure, with mismatched dishes and a funky decor, but the atmosphere is cozy and the service is always friendly. The food is very good, with a wide and varied menu. Soups and salads are excellent, and the entrees will never disappoint. Notable dishes include the Rack of Lamb, Filet Oscar, Swordfish Madagascar, and the best cioppino south of Monterey. The chicken paté and dry vermouth is a nice touch to start the meal, and vegetable sides are included with the entrees. Parking is limited and can be a challenge, especially on weekends, with the only available parking being Pacific Coast highway, which can make for a bit of hike. That aside, Dizz's is worth the effort, as it offers a unique dining experience with very good food.
Always a wonderful place to go!
Always the perfect choice for a special occasion. The food is delicious and the service excellent.
Dizz's is French country. One of the best restaurants in Laguna. Great people, food and cocktails in addition to great art work. Desserts exceptional as well. You need to dine here
Really enjoyed this restaurant. It was our first time. The setting is quaint and fun. The service was friendly. There was an extraordinary range of food on the menu, and everything we got was terrific. The garlic bread has to be seen to be believed.
Outstanding meal and attentive service in a quaint venue
Dizz is only open for dinner 6 nights a week in the winter, 7 in the summer. No lunch, brunch, etc. Love the food, service is always excellent, server Erica is wonderful. It is a small cozy place, small patio with heaters and ocean view. It is a small little old "house" with loads of charm. They have just celebrated their 40 anniversary which is a tremendous achievement in Laguna Beach with the constant turn-over of eateries. It has been owned by the same family all this time. The vermouth aperitif and house-made chicken liver pate are a great complementary start. Reservations are recommended for busy weekends.
Our favorites are the rack of lamb, onion soup, and had an excellent veal lemon piccata. The Belgian Cream Strawberry Pie is out of this world and we always have it.
Great, friendly service. Love the eclectic decor. Very cozy. It was our second time dining at Dizz’s and it’s such a gem! Food is delicious. Love the pate and vermouth served upon being seated. Awesome escargots appetizer.
We had just lost a family member and needed a friendly, comfortable place to sit, eat and drink well and tell stories. Dizz’s Unique take on dining filled all those requirements. Most of us had dined there with our relative over the last, I don’t, three decades maybe? It brought back lots of good memories. Thanks for being there when we needed you.
Truly a hidden gem! Have driven by a million times and never knew what an incredible place this could be inside. Everything was fantastic - the service, the meal, the ambiance! Will be back again and again.
Total gem of Laguna Beach. Our waitress was wonderful, the food delicious, and atmosphere is comfortable yet retro and different. Can't wait to return regularly.
Our server was fantastic! However, the entire experience would have been FAR better if the host had simply talked to us. We had a reservation and had to wait at least 30 minutes before being seated, and while we were standing around waiting to get seated (and dodging servers carrying food), we could see several empty tables. If the host had said that the kitchen was overwhelmed and that some of those tables had to be combined for a large party coming soon, we would have been much less annoyed! Also, the food was not bad, but nothing special.
Great food and uniquely presented. A very homey and warm, friendly atmosphere. Perfect for any or no occasion.
I hav always had good experience at Dizz. Last night was an exception. I waited over one hour for my reserved seating. Service was painfully slow. I hope this was an exception due to management oversight in scheduling appropriate staffing in back and front. Luckily, food was good as usual. Management needs to address the staffing issue or risk loosing loyal customers in the very competitive dining space.
Delicious rack of lamb and special strawberry dessert.
The character, style, and ambiance and gourmet fair at Dizz's As Is exceeds expectations and is one of our go-to spots in Laguna Beach. Enjoy cocktails or small plates on the patio or a multi course meal with the best French Onion soup you'll ever have. Dizz's As Is always keeps us coming back for more. I always recommend this best kept secret to our friend and family. Can't wait to go back soon.
We went here to celebrate my birthday. Quality of food can’t be beat; their lamb is the best in town along with any fresh fish and their diablo sauce!
We have been to Dizzs several times. Consistently great food and people (they remember return diners).
Favorite place. Love rack of lamb, onion soup and to-die-for dessert, Belgian Strawberry Cream Pie.
Love this place, very nice.
Dizz’s As Is restaurant is the most casually elegant restaurant in Laguna Beach. You can literally dress as you like and fit in. Great food, unique setting, and atmospheres where you can step back in time and enjoy excellent food and service. Many of the Laguna landmark restaurants have closed but Dizz’s remains as one of the long standing excellent restaurants that represents the best Laguna has to offer.
Perfect all the time!
Funky, old time Laguna jewel. Food quality is always very good. Not a gourmet's delight, but good, solid well prepared and presented. Well rounded menu, too. Some items change daily. Salad or soup included with entre as well as pate with toast points as mouse bouche at no charge!, warm/toasty sourdough bread with butter, too. Decent simple wine list. Same owners for two generations. Good people.
Quirky little restaurant with great food and wonderful staff
We were herefor New Years Eve. This is an on-going tradition that we have with our group of friends. This is the first year that the reservation was messed up. We arrived 15 min prior to our scheduled time. The table we were set for was occupied by another group that we were told were 1 hour late on arrival due to their own circumstances. We were told that it could be a long wait due to this issue. We were then offered to sit outside immediately. We took that option, however the heaters in the overhead were not working properly and we were all freezing. This, of course, made the evening unpleasant. We also had a waiter that did not appear to know what he was doing. I had to go inside the restaurant to find him, just so we could get a drink order in. To say the least we were very disappointed in the overall experience. I do have to say that the food was hot when it arrived (good thing), however the Veal Picata had no flavor. The Lamb Chops were excellent.
Food was excellent as usual. Good variety of dishes on the menu. Prices are very reasonable for this quality of cooking.
Fun place, wife’s birthday, very eclectic and one of our favorite places. Good food and great service!
Terrific food. Best in south OC. Chairs a little uncomfortable and the staff was short handed but no big deal. Love this place
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Always great service and excellent food. Dinner is a special event here. A true neighborhood gem.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this warm & charming restaurant for the delicious food, eclectic ambiance & super friendly & helpful staff. Can’t wait to go back for tapas night. Life is too short not to go here often!
Awesome place. I have been going there for 30 years.
Phenomenal personable experience with great food, service and unique ambience.
We made a same day reservation for 10 people. They were able to accommodate and went above and beyond to make my mom's birthday a truly special one. Erika, our hostess and waitress, was very personable and hospitable. She was incredibly attentive and met our every need. She even volunteered to take pictures of the family when the food came out! Mom's birthday dessert was complimentary, and Erika brought out their specialty cake--"grandfather's recipe." Erika won our stomachs with the fantastic food, and won our hearts with hers. She really took the extra care to make this day an amazing one. I highly recommend this restaurant for its food and unmatched dining experience.
What can I say? Total CLASS!! I love Dizz's and have since the first day I experienced the food and ambience well over thirty years ago and I am SO glad that it is always so consistently excellent on every level. Food's D'lish, great flavors and diverse menu - classics that also have changed very little over the years which always makes for a welcoming memory - and of course the decor - extravagant in an art nouveau Hollywood meets the beach kind of way - warm and familiar - again like coming home year in and year out - chez nous !! Service just right - not too fussy, always attentive. The occasion : my wife's birthday joined by our two young sons. Could not have been better! Thanks once again Dizz's - for keeping it as is.
Pleasant surprise! This was our first dining experience at this restaurant, and we had heard mixed reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, very good service, and a certain charm that comes with this 40-year old restaurant. We would definitely dine here again:)
