We had a reservation but they still hep us waiting for 25 minutes. I don’t this the waiting was the issue because I understand you can’t really control when the patrons linger longer, it was more of the non-apologetic attitude of the hostesses. They told me the wait was 5 minutes but it actually took 25.

The servers were excellent.

The food was excellent. I’d recommend the shrimp tika but not the chicken tika... very different tastes. Of the 4 starters and 4 mains, we liked all except the chicken tika.

We have had lunch here at least 5 times over the past year. The staff is very knowledgeable in the dishes and the significant ingredients. Meals are well presented. The quantity of food was just right. We did not drink, but our friends were very impressed with the wine selection. A great place as a destination restaurant, or as a way to relax before/after partaking in a tour if the Museum We have done both.

I visited Diwan for the first time during the Winterlicious in 2017. I really loved food and the atmosphere at that time, so I decided to try again with my family during Winterlicious 2019. I must say I was little disappointed this time. The food portions were lot smaller than the last time, and the desserts were somewhat mediocre, something you would easily find at the franchise Italian restaurants. Last time, all 3 prix courses were amazing and unique, yet delicious Middle Eastern style desserts. I would recommend Diwan to my friends, but probably will tell them to visit during other than the summerlicious and winterlicious times. Thanks.

The servers are very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, but the dessert was a disappointment. The cake was half burned, very dry and hard. The decoration of the place and the view to the outside is very nice, but it was cold inside the restaurant. It would be good to offer more traditional desserts.

Outstanding Winterlicious menu! Every dish was spiced to perfection, every bite an indulgence. Particularily loved the braised beef and hummus app and the mango sorbet. You could not go wrong with any of the mains! We had the persian princess cocktails to toast my friend's birthday. Lovely. Even the tea and coffee were top notch. Service perfect. It was our first trip here and we will be back for sure! The museum is very interesting, with a serene feel. Building very unique.

Coffee service was unfortunately a bit lacking. It was unclear whether this was a reluctance to provide refills, or a new policy. Even when refills did arrive (only after a request), they either required an unnecessary and environmentally unfriendly new cup, or were served from an open pot which meant the coffee arrived already cooled.

The food was okay. Nothing blew my mind, it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t exceptional. It was mediocre at best. My appertizer was okay - crusted paneer dish. This is something that should be in on the summerlicuous menu. It’s a cool, citrusy spring/summer dish, not so much appropriate for winterlicious. For my main I had some chicken leg dish with rice & the chicken thigh was dry (overcooked) but the leg part was decent. The portions were small. Husband had the beef and humans as an appettizer, that was good portion and well made. Best thing we ate. His main was Chicken byini (forgive the spelling error), it was okay. We’ve had better. I’ve made better!

The dessert was extremely underwhelming! I had some watermelon with halva, and my husband had a chocolate fruit cake with butterscotch ice cream. It was okay...overly sweet and very forgettable.

My Chai tea was delicious as was my husband’s Turkish coffee - HOWEVER- we ordered these to have WITH dessert. Dessert was served about 10-12 minutes prior to the drinks arrival. One dessert was ice cream based...so time limiting on how long we can wait for the coffee and tea to arrive.

If you go to in little India on Gerard Street in Toronto you will get better, more authentic Indian, Persian, Pakistani food for a fraction of the cost.

We will not be returning and felt we did not get value for money.

This place came ‘highly’ recommend by a colleague, and I learned this colleague does not know “real” Persian food! Very very underwhelming.

This is my 4th time going to Diwan for Sumerlicious/Winterlicious. The food was consistently amazing. The service was always friendly and courteous. I love the fact that the dishes came pretty fast so that I had time to enjoy the food and chit chat with my friends. I wish they could serve dinner also.

Food was delicious. Portions were just right. Cocktail menu is uniquel arabic-inspired. Value was very high (it happened to be winterlicious). The old art from Syria was stunning. Very comfortable and spacy. Great service. We could only get a 5 pm sitting, so the restaurant was pretty empty, which made the vibe a bit low key. I will be back here again.

We order hot snacks first they were brought with the salad course . We would have preferred it to be brought separately. We ordered the tomatoe feta salad which was not fresh and the tomatoes had been refrigerated must likely overnight . They were freezing cold and the subtle flavour ruined . The roasted lamb shank was outstanding . The harissa chicken was a fairly sweet bold hot sauce but was poorly matched with a rice with carrots infused with a simple sugar syrup much too sweet . Also matched with sour cream and dill sauce which was too a leap for the dish . I understand the pairing of yogurt and dill with carrot but the sweetness level was off the charts on this dish due to the simple syrup infusion.

Attentive, knowledgeable staff, always interesting items on the menu each month. Am looking forward to the summer season for warm days on the outside patio as this property is in a well organized setting that takes advantage of plantings and reflecting ponds that provides an out of this world experience. The early sittings are just right for taking friends on a post lunch tour.

We can’t get enough of Diwan! Been there four times in as many months for birthday celebrations and reunions with old friends. The food is spectacular! I dream about my next Biryani! The room is gorgeous and on Wednesday evenings the live jazz duo play beautiful soft music to enhance the ambiance. The restaurant keeps Museum hours as it is located inside the Aga Khan Museum so Wednesday is the only night it is open for dinner - at Lunch menu prices! An unforgettable pleasure!

I've eaten at Diwan a couple of times over the past few years, and thought it was wonderful, especially the food. This time, I noticed that my meal was frankly very mediocre - I had the chicken biryani. I then found out that the restaurant was taken over by McEwen. Clearly they've taken the quality down. I was with a sizable group, so did not lodge a complaint. The service, however, remained excellent, as did the ambiance.

Overall it was fine, but that’s all. This restaurant could be so much more. I asked for a bit more yogurt with my dish and was charged an extra $2. Not a lot, but tacky. I found a hair in my dish but did not mention it as I had already complained about the yogurt. I want to really like this place as I am a museum member and I really like being there. But once again, I left underwhelmed.
