Perfect For:

  • Notable Wine List
Divino is a family owned restaurant and wine bar specializing in honest regional Italian food. Since 2000, neighborhood foodies and Italophiles have flocked to the casual/chic Montrose hideaway for handmade pastas, exquisite local seafood and innovative dishes like Crispy Pork Shoulder with Green Apple Risotto and Pickled Celery Root. The eclectic wine list features 30 wines by the glass with very low mark-ups. The list is predominantly Italian and celebrates not only the classic regions of Tuscany and Piemonte but also the more obscure wines of Alto Adige all the way to Sicily.

The waiters are always knowledgeable about the menu options and have good recommendations for wine pairings. The food is wonderful.

Great table in wine room. Superior service. And excellent food as usual. A go to spot for us.

A pleasant surprise, the menu had a variety of foods from Steak, Lamb and delicious Italian items including house made pasta. The wine list would please any Italian wine lover. The service was attentive but not bothersome. We will go back soon.

So, we met friends for dinner at Divino this past weekend. Our first time visit to this family-run restaurant. They have an outstanding wine selection. Our party chose from a variety of wines, and there were plenty to choose from. We had several different entrees, including the grilled quail, which was a table favorite. The service was impeccable. I would point out that the dining room can be quite noisy on a Saturday, so come prepared for that. That said, I really can’t knock the place because the food and service more than outweighed the sound of everyone having a good time. Come to think of it, maybe that’s the hallmark of a really good restaurant. We will indeed come back.

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Divino's. Food was great as was the wine list. Service was noteworthy as we were not in a hurry and the waiter did his best to let the evening proceed at our pace and not the restaurant's. They never pushed to get things moving one after another, food arrived within very reasonable time frames so no delay but for instance we spent 20 minutes just talking without ordering anything and that seemed to not cause any problem whatsoever. We took our time and enjoyed the food, the company and the service. Would definitely make the trip again for another delightful meal!

Food and wine was a good value. My lamb shank was outstanding. Only negative was a special of the night, grouper , which was cooked perfectly, but under seasoned. Service was great.

Divino is our "go to" Italian and the food and wine are always of a high standard. The wait staff are all friendly and very knowledgeable about the wine list. It is a really nice touch that when you are looking for a recommendation that you can sample 2-3 wines that they have as selections of the month. It makes a great meal even better when you can try a new wine and even a new varietal

Jeremiah did an outstanding job - as usual

This is an awesome find. They have everything one could want for in an authentic, quaint Italian restaurant. Next time I will request the special seating, if it can be requested, and in the library.

Awesome

Not really Italian. Over sauced. Have lived in Italy. This place fluncked.

Service was something I would expect from a chain restaurant. Gentleman came over 10 minutes after being seated to pour water and found out that was the waiter. Wasn’t horrible, but far from good.

Very nice neighborhood locale, good atmosphere. Very good lamb chops. Chocolate Symphony dessert cake OK but very thin slice of cake and small portion. The two coffees ordered with the cake never came. As the dinner crowd increased we saw very little of our waiter. Ironically, we scheduled dinner the night before Valentine's Day because we thought service would be better than on Valentine's Day.

The lamb chops were excellent, and the parmesan crusted veal was quite good. Enjoyed the Caesar salad and the kitchen was glad to chop it up for us. My friend got a very nice chocolate cake for a birthday surprise at the end of our meal. The Pinot Noir was a great value at 20% off.
The service was outstanding!

There was a very large party in the wine room where the guests were VERY loud.

Our shared starter arrived in a timely manner but we waited much too long a time for our main course.
Our reservation was for 6 PM and besides the large party mentioned above, we were the only other diners upon arrival.
Our main course was served about 50 minutes after our being seated.

1) Soup came out warm
2) Ravioli was subpar
3) Cold bread

Left a lot to be desired. Great location and layout, but unfortunately not the best Italian in Houston.

We always love dining at Divino's. Food is always delicious, starters are great - lots of interesting choices. Pasta dishes great but their fish specials are wonderful & 99% of the time that's my choice. Staff are super efficient & very friendly. Great dining experience from start to finish.

A very nice restaurant. The beef tenderloin was outstanding; the lamb was good, but not excellent. Mixed fried seafood delicious. Service attentive but not intrusive. This is the rare Houston restaurant that is quiet enough for genuine conversation.

Food was delicious and service excellent. We will be back again and again.
