Delicious food in a comfortable setting. So much better than a bar/burger joint.
Stay away from the mussels flatbreads great hanger steak great service blah really thought I would love this place but it’s off my list too many great restaurants to waste my time again
District Social was a great overall experience. Very pleasant staff, good vive and food was exceptional good. Highly recommend. Only slight negative is it can get a bit loud due to the bar downstairs. But overall would dine there again.
The drinks were amazing, but the food choices were subpar.
Large group party w a 20% gratuity already included. Apparently that means that wait staff can disregard the table the whole evening. Guests arrive and must wait 30min to order drinks. Then another 30 to order food.
Several other tables ranging guests of 2-6 were seated after us, enjoyed meals and left before we were served main courses. Waiter was cordial enough when present but pretty rubbish service.
Gentleman refilling water was on point however. We saw him easily 2-3 as much time as our waiter.
Food itself was actually quite good.
Due to the service however we will not come back to this establishment.
Waiter did not know drink menu. Flatbread were baked inconsistently and the croquettes we just average at $6 a small portion. Seems like a typical times square tourist place with fancier food. not impressed.
Great place , full of energy with food for everyone.
A casual place with an upscale menu. Service was top notch. We were early for our reservation and wanted to be away from the noise of the bar. They got us seated and away from noise. It was still a bit loud but as the rush subsided so did the noise. No pressure to hurry us off. Food was fantastic. Our conversation ran past the closing hour but no one was bouncing around to get us to go.
Good choice near Penn Station area. Bar is pretty loud up front, but dining area in back is more reasonable. Food was delicious, service was very good and attentive.
Nice bar restaurant in Manhattan center, need to know the location to find it. Food was tasty and nicely presented.
went here before a saturday matinee. when we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant. The menu seemed different from what I remembered when I looked online. There were not very many options that were of interest to my friends or me. We all got the salmon. It was ok. The service was just Ok. would not go back.
The place is nice. The block is full of construction so I was nervous walking down the block. The menu is an eclectic mix. I really enjoyed my yuca fries and lamb skewers.
I reserved a table and didn’t realize to specify that we had a person in a wheel chair. I got a table upstairs and realized there was no handicapped access. So we had to leave the table and go down to the main floor and stand.
Great food and service, expansive alcohol menu. Great for a pre- theater/show/MSG dinner
good food excellent service
Until having lunch at District Social, I used to think that you can’t find bad tavern food in NYC. I was mistaken. Extremely limited menu and the worst pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever eaten. It was unrecognizable. It also took the server 20 minutes to return with my credit card despite it being a very small lunch crowd.
Loved the food! Great for pre theater or MSG concerts.
Salmon was too small a meal, everything else very tasty and better portions.
Great Staff! Amazing atmosphere! Prime location! We had a great evening celebrating Family birthday. Menu includes a variety of options - from new trends to classic favorites. Definitely will be back!
Our server was awesome, the Brussels sprouts were the absolute best I’ve ever had ANYWHERE & the mushroom flat bread was out of this world too!
Great lunch experience and the ambiance is wonderful. Was relatively quiet on a Monday for lunch. Looked like they had a great bar - will be back to try that out!
We had a lovely dinner.
Fine fare for pre-theater. Better than most places in the area. We had the roast chicken (pretty great), the lamb tagine (fine-tasting and elegantly displayed) and the salmon (nothing to write home about) with a side of charred broccoli (skip this). The front of the restaurant is a large bar area, where many people come for after-work drinks -- so expect it to be *very loud* on a weeknight (we were there on a Friday night). Service was friendly, fast, and welcoming, a nice surprise in a fast-turnover restaurant like this one. Prices were high, but actually on the low end for this area. District Social will be my "safety" for pre-show food in Times Square.
Cool vibe, close to Penn Station and MSG. Service was great and food was pretty good too. Prices about average for NYC.
Food was very good. We loved the porky flat bread appetizer. All three dinners were gobbled up. Jordan our waitress was the best! Always good here, never a dissapointment.
this has been one of my favorite restaurants and I've been coming here every couple of weeks since they've opened. the guys is always amazing. i took a friend of mine that was visiting nyc last night. we had planned on a leisurely dinner starting with a few appetizers and going on to entrees later. we requested to order appetizers and then we'd place our entree order later. we were told we needed to place everything at once. throws a wrench at a leisurely dinner experience. instead of ordering 3 appetizers, we ordered one.
Food is good, wait staff good but busy, great pre theater/concert place. Extensive drink/beer menu.
The most delicious Tangine!! And Cod was great also.
Mushroom flatbread was super tasty.
Looks Gastro Pub with excellent food choices.
This was a super fun night out with the hubby! Place was very active - bar area was really noisy but the dining area was fine. I mention this because many reviews mention the noise level as being bothersome. No so in the dining area. Food was amazing - we ordered different appetizers. Very delicious and satisfying. Tried one of their specialties drinks called Good Medicine ( scotch based with honey ginger syrop and soda) YUMMY!!
We had a reservation and the table we ended up using was available, but the host/manager sensed our desire to sit and purposely kept us standing until the precise moment of our reservation. We stood for ten minutes because he chose to make a point when we said our entire party was ready to sit. When we realized it was the empty table that was our own, I decided I to write a negative review.
We made a reservation for my moms 55th birthday. We had plans to go to the Billy Joel concert directly afterward. We were sat at a quiet table in a back room off of the bar for 6:30 dinner service. We informed the server of our need to be out by 7:45 and he was able to deliver exceptional service, amazing food and drink, and even a birthday desert to my mom. Our experience was amazing and the food was SO good. We had the short ribs, two flatbreads, the mussels, the duck and the lamb chops- and it was all to die for. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in the city!
Loved the bar vibe and my Cucumber Gimlet. Table was ready on time, service was excellent and we were not rushed. The flatbread, croquettes and yucca fries were my faves.
The food overall was very good. My cocktail (the cucumber gimlet) was not well-balanced (way too much lime, very little cucumber flavor), but the crab and corn soup and brussels sprouts were delicious. It's very noisy, but it worked for us for pre-concert dining. Can't say for sure if I would recommend it--depends on the circumstances.
Food was quite good- especially the lamb tagine and service was fine but the noise was deafening. My ears hurt. Would not go if I wanted to talk to anyone.
Other reviewers noted the small portions and deafening noise levels. Believe them.
This is the third time I’ve eaten here and we really like it. However, it would be nice to have some bread on the table or a roll. Just a suggestion.
I brought some out of town guests to District Social. The food and service were great and they totally enjoyed themselves.
The service was rushed. It felt like our waiter wanted us to hurry up from the second we sat down.
Food was average at best. I’ve never had a cheese plate with one type of hard cheese in my life.
Overpriced for what you get AND happy hour is only served at the bar.
Food exceeded expectations...waiter was great! Great craft beer options!
It was pretty chill, a little too loud at times but a good evening overall.
Great bar atmosphere up front with quiet place to eat in back. Yummy appetizers to share, creative drinks and good food. Staff attentive!
