From Outstanding Wines by the Glass, Dining at the Bar with Seasonal Ingredients Positioned in an Emerging Downtown Cleveland Location, District Will Compliment the Cleveland Restaurant Landscape.
Both dinners were excellent; my goose confit was a moist and tasty leg.
Eric, the owner was so welcoming and kind. We came back 2 nights in a row because the service and food was all awesome. He even gave us a dessert on the house night 2. Will definitely come back next time we are in town.
Excellent scallops! Service was friendly and attentive. Perfect location for dinner before the Playhouse.
My food was cold. My wife’s was hot. Our waitress was fantastic.
The District restaurant is very convenient for the Playhouse Square neighborhood, particularly if you are planning to catch a play or show. The food was fresh, the staff very professional and friendly, and service timely.
Our server, Avi, was The best - attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The fresh baked rolls are incredible they bring them out to the table fresh from the oven. The calamari is outstanding. The only thing I will change next time I order is to hold the goat cheese from the calamari. The entree I ordered was the 3 egg omelette. It was cooked to perfection. I subbed out my fresh fruit for grilled asparagus which they accommodated easily.
Karen did an outstanding job. She was very pleasant and friendly. She even asked if we were attending a show, which we were. Food was spaced out nicely and we didn’t feel rushed.
They did a great job getting us served and out before our theater show started! They also allowed us to share a dinner which was really great! We ordered our own grilled Caesar salads and while mine was great, my friends wasn’t as full or as tasty as mine. Hers was on the skimpy side. They need to work on consistency. Prices are on the high side.
Took a group for lunch before a matinee at the Playhouse. Everyone was very pleased with their food! The service from Maddie was phenomenal! She took very good care of us very impressed with her professionalism and ability to roll with our humor! Definitely will be back in the future.
Meal was tasty and good presentation. Disappointed in Quinoa dinner and was pleasantly returned and chose a better option. Service was as great.
Loved the food and the service. Great semi-formal place to go before a show.
The food was awful. Eggs Benedict but didn’t have Canadian bacon, eggs were hard boiled not runny and a teaspoon of terrible hollandaise. And presented as an egg sandwich. So odd.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out! There was a GIANT miscommunication about the brunch portion of the menu and we have corrected the issues. If you would please reach out to the owner, Eric McIntyre, at Eric@districtcleveland we would like to make this situation right for you!
Food is good, but a little bit noisy. Generally good.
Our meals were disappointing, calamari appetizer was soggy, goose confit was very dry and haricort vert green beans listed on menu were in actuality regular green beans. But the location is great if you're going to Playhouse Square!
This was my third, and last, visit to District. It’s just not very good. Great location, you would hope they would try harder to excel.
Excellent restaurant. Food and service was outstanding! Looking forward to returning.
Great place for dining after or before an event. Excellent service, attentive but not intrusive wait staff. Well appointed and excellent menu selections. Relaxing atmosphere and well appointed.
Lovely date night, thank you
Went on a Friday night around 7pm and there were only 2 other tables with people, so very dead. The food was good and the service was great, but overall the experience was just average.
Food, service, location, experience was great! The ONLY thing a little negative was the seating. Over half of the restaurant was empty, yet instead of spreading people out to facilitate a more intimate experience with my date, everyone was being seated in the same area, on the booth and chair combo seating so other diners were almost in our laps. I am sure there was a reason for the seating, however more consideration should be given to arrange folks apart from each other, especially when reservations were made. Other than that, a fantastic meal and experience!
Excellent meal and service.
Waiter Ryan was fantastic. He did a very good job. The seafood risotto was wonderful! So much full sized seafood! Very good.
The food was bland, the service was okay, and the everything was overpriced for the quality of food. Would rather of gone to the marble room or somewhere good in Cleveland
The food was excellent. The seafood risotto and short ribs were awesome. We were going to the theater and were not rushed but had plenty of time to enjoy dinner and get to the theater.
Great downtown location with amazing food options for lunch.
The location is lovely for attending a show at Playhouse Square. The food was not flavorful and the price was outrageous. The people were kind, friendly and provided great service. If you are looking for a good meal, don't go here.
I anticipated a higher end dining experience. Cost-wise it was but too many other things were a disappointment. I was there on New Year’s eve for our 45th wedding anniversary.
Little things like a drinks list that had the corner torn off and greasy finger smudges on it indicated that management was not attending to details.
The main course for both my wife and I were good. I had the lamb shank and it was done perfectly and my wife’s beef Wellington was equally good. The vegetable side dishes, however, were almost inedible. Both the bourbon maple glazed carrots and Brussels sprouts with bacon were overdone and swimming in oil.
The desserts also disappointed. The chocolate Ganache was grainy and the small cake dry. Overall I entered with much higher expectations than were delivered.
My wife and I have been here before and enjoyed it very much. This particular time was obviously a slow time for the restaurant and the staff was cut considerably to the point of affecting service. I hope this situation improves because the food is awesome.
The meal was awful! Stay away from: grossly overcooked fish; uncooked, literally clusters of uncooked pasta; anything with mashed potatoes - no idea what it was made of but it wasn’t potatoes or even anything close to an eatable produce; tuna appetizer- so lame, not worth going to District for. Never coming back!
Told waiter we needed to eat in 1 hr 15 min to go to theatre. Food arrived after 1 hour, had to rush through meal as a result. Food was good except for lamb chops which were “inedible “ full of sinew and nearly impossible to cut or chew.
This was a very nice pre-theatre meal. This wasn’t our first visit to The District and we will certainly return. One member of our group never got their side dish which was a disappointment. We were anticipating sharing the broccolini but it never arrived. Unfortunately, we paid for the broccolini because we didn’t notice the details on the check. No harm, just a mistake and we will return on another theatre Sunday.
I will never go back. We started by ordering tea and coffee as we were there for lunch. They only have 2 teapots (or so we were told) so we had to take turns. Same with the french press coffee and one in our group never got his after numerous requests. We waited 30 minutes for the rolls that we were told were in the oven and when we finally received them they weren't remotely warm. The soup came out cold and the food was mediocre. Our server had an attitude and really didn't care.
Only had one waitstaff on Saturday for lunch. As you can imagine, wait times for drinks and food were awful and our order for both drinks and food got messed up so my wife and I couldn’t drink or eat together. Terrible experience. And the place was only half full!
Food was great and Steve was wonderful! We will be back!!
Fantastic experience! Love this place especially before a show at the Playhouse!
Good food, even better service.
We have been to District multiple times, usually before a show. This is the first time we were truly disappointed with our meal. My wife had beef burgundy, which almost had more inedible fat than meat. I had a seafood risotto which was a bit bland and was deficient on seafood. Our ahi tuna appetizer was very good, but for the price could have included more tuna. All told this was the worst meal we have had at District and sincerely hope that this was a one time poor visit.
Good cocktails. Beet and Apple salad was mostly lettuce, few beet or apple bits. The scallops were very good,, but 4 was skimpy for the price. The chocolate ganache dessert was excellent. Very good for pre-show dinner.
