Dish Bar & Grill
Our lunch was served fast and delicious. The staff was attentive and friendly. It was a wonderful experience. Thanks!
Very slow to seat us even though it was not crowded at all. Slow service for dinner/drinks. Food ok but not what it used to be. Not the restaurant it used to be and no valet service so parking cost $15. Overall not a good choice for the evening
Host did not check off our Open Table reservation so no credit was received for that. Really slow service even though only one other table had guests. Those guests were offered complimentary take-home cookies. We were not. Took 40 minutes from our arrival until we finally were served the appetizer. Main course veggies were good, but the steak had far too much fat to make it enjoyable. Eventually, a check was presented. We were automatically charged 20% tip which was not what we would have paid, given the extremely slow service that was provided. A lesser tip would have been more appropriate, considering that service was not as anticipated. Not likely we will return to this establishment.
We were seated on time, given menus, and ignored for the next 40 minutes. This gave us the opportunity to see that the menu was not particularly interesting or creative. When we finally got the attention of a staff member, we asked whether they'd be able to serve us in time for us to make it to the theater by curtain time, and were informed that they would not. No offer of free drinks or appetizers, no suggestion as to where else we might be able to eat quickly in the neighborhood (we asked), no coupon for a return visit. Very disappointing.
Used to love going to Dish. Unfortunately this was the second time in the last three months it took nearly an hour to be served. We waited over 40 minutes to get a glass of wine. Not sure if they were short staffed in the kitchen, but it’s not likely I’ll be returning anytime soon. I hope they workout their issues.
Had a 530 reservation for 8 ppl on a Saturday night. The beers were flat, service was extremely poor, took 20-25 min for drinks to come to the table, no silverware napkins or side plates were brought to the table when the two extremely greasy apps (cheese curds and tator tot nachos) were delivered. By 645 our dinner had still not come out, so we left. When we walked through the dining room to use the restroom we noticed most tables also had no food. Possibly a kitchen wait, but unacceptable to not have drinks. Awful experience, will not be back.
Our server Emily made our experience wonderful! We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and the food was excellent. We had a Groupon and had a cold seafood platter to start and a 16oz steak. Would highly recommend!
We used a Groupon for a steak and seafood tower. It was great. All the food was delicious as was the customer service. Would definitely recommend.
Sat at our table for 10 minutes before getting approached by a server. Then 5 minutes later we still had no drinks. We got up and left. The place wasn’t even busy. Terrible experience.
If someone is having a burger, they should be offered ketchup. I waited tables for 6 years. This is common sense. Other than that, the service was excellent.
Food is often served room temperature or cold. This is a drawback. Close to Hartford Stage is a plus, and the food is good, even if it is not always hot. Service can be good to indifferent, depends on the server. Hosts are a problem. Even with a reservation, they often seem flustered and ill-prepared.
I eat at Dish often, mostly for business lunches. This time I tried Sunday Brunch. The food is consistently delicious. The service was great but we noticed a 20% tip was added to our bill. We had a coupon and no where did it allow for the waitstaff adding their own tip. We usually tip well, but since she set the amount that she felt she was entitled to, that's what we left. MANAGEMENT PAY ATTENTION!
Always quality food but for this lunch they were very slow. Over an hour to get our food
I hate leaving these kind of comments. Our food was wrong. We didn't get what we ordered. I am only going to go back because the waitress we had was amazing. The fact that we didn't get what we ordered but the waitress was amazing is the reason I'll go back states alot! She deserves a raise for at least trying to make up for the fact that our food was wrong. Most places would just say sorry and keep going. We weren't going to order desert but she offered to pay for a desert. That says alot about this waitress!!!
Food was cool. Service staff tried to help and very pleasant but can’t make up for food that is not hot. Slow night but that seemed to compound everything as it took a long time.
Our server was fantastic as was the food. Very good experience
Dish's food, service and ambience are excellent. Their menu is a bit limited in its variety and the evening we went there were no specials. We have also gone to Dish and sat at the bar. It's a more casual experience but just as enjoyable.
Went for Mother's Day buffet. Only we did not learn it was a buffet until sit at our table and being ignored by wait staff for 30 minutes. They finally got us water and drinks and only then told us it was buffet only.
The food was good, but the kitchen was very slow, it took awhile to get our food. And they were out of some ingredients, they didn't have Canadian bacon for the Benedict, they used prosciutto instead.
Great food and impeccable service!
Seated immediately. Waited a half hour for someone to take our order. Could not find a waiter, a host or bartender. Had a great meal at Max's.
Business lunch, so time was a factor. Food was served relatively quickly (glad we had 1.5 hours)... but when it arrived, my guests dish was perfect but mine was cold. As it was meatloaf, I was a little concerned but due to the time constraints, I didn't make an issue of it.
In hindsight, I wish I had. About two hours later (Having nothing else to eat and only water to drink), I had a very bad reaction to it.. and I'll leave it at that.
Due to limited choices in the area, I'll probably end up going back but will be a bit more careful.
Tonight was a dinner before Hartford Stage. The staff was great from start to finish. Our drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts were spot on. Thank you for an enjoyable evening out.
Service was horrendous. Took 10-15 minutes for the waitress to even bring us water. Took 45-1 hour to get our food (eggs mind you) and when it arrived to the table it was lukewarm basically cold. I have never had a worse experience with service. The only good service was after I flagged down the check and then all of a sudden everyone wanted to visit the table to pick it up before we had even gotten our cards out. I would recommend finding a different brunch spot unless you want awful food and horrendous service to start your day.
3rd visit. wasn’t impressed the first two times but decided to give another chance. The ahi tuna was impossible to cut through. The burrata was very good. They spread customers out so far apart that it does not feel like a happening. will not return. also wine pours were chintzy!
Serin, our waitress, was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable. We liked her a lot.
We have been going to Dish for the Hartford Stage season for the last six years. We found this visit very disappointing. The menu, while somewhat changed, is still pretty much the same. We would have sat in the bar and tried the bar menu but it was packed with folks going to the opening of the Yard Goats game. We were not able to have the bar menu in the dining room. Think we will look at other area restaurants for our next pre-theater dinner.
Good lunch for business. Attentive and prompt service. Sat us nicely away from other groups.
We enjoyed our dinners very much. A somewhat limited menu but everything is well prepared. Some of the pricing is a little goofy - $60 for a rib steak but $36 for a NY Strip. I had the strip, it was very good but I wouldn't compare it to an upscale steak house. The strip is a decent value, the rib steak is oddly overpriced. No big deal. The salads are creative, especially the ancient grains "salad" which is really less of a salad and more of a hot dish, almost a meal by itself. Very tasty, very flavorful. Nice meal, nice experience.
Great urban location for pre-event dinners. The food was quite good. Service felt quite rushed and impersonal. However, we'll definitely come back to dine here again.
Generally good, considering the basketball tournament was in town and things were pretty frantic. (It took almost 20 minutes to get a menu. ) We announced to the waitress that we had tickets for Hartford Stage and she managed to get us out of the restaurant in plenty of time for the curtain. Overall, the dinner was good, but I DO have to air one gripe.
I ordered a Scotch with a side of seltzer to start. When I looked at the tab at the end of the meal, my Scotch was priced out at TWELVE dollars (which I thought was seriously beyond reasonable) and the SIDE OF SELTZER was another SEVEN DOLLARS!!!! I intend to write management about that as well, but that is just plain greedy and insensitive!
This was the night of the NCAA tournament so the crowd was significant. Bar area was PACKED. But we had reservations and were shown immediately to our table. Still a bit noisy . Service was delayed due to "everyone ordering at the same time". However both our waitress and the Hostess apologized to us. Fish tacos were very good. also the house burger was tasty. I think they used a special menu because of the tournament crowds. I would like to return and select from the usual menu.
really slow service - NCAA event so somewhat understandable but really took a long time and we missed first part of game as a result
As always Dish did not disappoint. The burger was tender and juicy. The fries were just ok, but I'm not complaining.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Dish - our first time there! The service was exceptional,; our waiter was personable, made great recommendations and was very attentive. we had a nice table near the front window and didn't feel rushed. The foods was delicious and beautifully presented, and The portions were surprisingly ample. We had the ahi tuna 3 ways, the short ribs meatloaf, tomato ricotta pie and the steak frites. No one was disappointed. And, they have a number of very appealing vegetarian options.
Our group of four enjoys getting together for dinner before going to see a show about once every 6 weeks. We had selected Dish because both my husband and friend had been their before for lunch and they wanted to go for dinner. The ambiance was lovely- we sat in the back. Our waitress appeared within 5 minutes of our getting seated and took our drink and appetizer order. Both came out in a timely manner. And we put in our entree and wine order.
It was at this point we had difficulty. We asked for more Crustini since the four that came with the appetizer were not enough to enjoy the hummus and cheese. The wine didn’t come until we were nearly finished with the entrees and we had difficulty getting a bill from our waitress. Perhaps she had too many tables at once, perhaps she could have another person to assist with delivering beverages or following up with customers. We were never asked if we needed anything or if all was ok.
I’m disappointed with our experience at Dish .
We ate here on a Friday with a concert in town. Our waitress,Kat, was amazing but the bar couldn’t keep up. You should not have to wait over 10 minutes for a beer. The food was quick and pleasing.
Seated for almost 20 mins before getting hostess’s attention that no servers had been there. Once server came order taken but he didn’t return until dinner over and brought dessert menu then never came Bach hostess took dessert order and brought check
My wife and I enjoyed the salads with shrimp or fish. The amount of food was adequate and it was extremely convenient to walk to the Hartford Stage. The menu was not extensive but was more than adequate.
