DiSalvo's Station Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
After a bad experience two years ago, we decided to take my mother in law for her birthday dinner on Friday. We were the only ones in the dining area and they had the ceiling fans on directly above us & we were freezing. The waitress told us they needed to have them on because it gets hot when they're busy. So my MIL and I sat with our winter coats on. We requested more bread because two of us got spaghetti, but you only get four pieces of 1" x 1/2" x 4"bread. By the time we got the bread, my husband was the only one still eating. At this time, the dining room was now almost full. But guess what? The table next to us mentioned to their server how cold it was and they then turned the ceiling fans off. At least they got to enjoy their meal without their winter coats on. The food is good (but limited menu), but this is the second time we've had a not so great experience there. I will say the waitress was very attentive in getting our water filled as soon as our glasses were half full.
Special time with friends. Meals ordered: chicken gaetano, chicken Marsala, eggplant rollatini, veal saltimbocca, soups was their wonderful wedding, salads fresh.
Their chef is fabulous!
Will return. Usually eat here in Latrobe 3times per year.
Ambience conducive to chatting. Warm comfortable restaurant.
Grandson attends St. Vincents in Latrobe and it was his 19th birthday. A friend recommended DiSalvos as a good location for an upscale meal. He was correct.
Meal was very good, portions were actually too big. Each of us went home with enough for another meal, or in my case, two!
Grandson was impressed and took pictures to give to a friend at school whose fiancé is coming to town shortly.
4 couples had early dinner after summer theatre on 7/16/17 at Saint Vincent College. There weren't many people there on a Sunday late afternoon which was great! The menu is always tasty-chicken saltimbocca is my favorite; chicken gaetano was a favorite, and veal marsala. Desserts are all wonderful, and we ordered bread pudding. Check their menu. Always great! Lovely conversation in a quiet location. And our server gave us a tour of The Station. One of our favorite restaurants!
Service was fantastic. Ambiance is classic
Cigar bar downstairs is like a man cave that my wife would approve of. Food was delicious. Wine list is very good and recommendation by server was perfect for our meals.
Joey D is a class person
I highly recommend this establishment
We were looking forward to DiSalvo's after reading reviews but were more than ready to leave after we got our check. First, the air-conditioning was not working properly - which we completely understand can happen but the lack of thought and management regarding this was a huge issue. Our waitress informed us, after sitting and ordering, that the AC was out in the main dining hall (which is where everyone was seated). For a venue with multiple dining areas, why would they not move the patrons into a different area? That seems like a basic management decision for the comfort of your diners. We first thought it may have just happened and they didn't have time to react but we then learned that this was the 3rd day the AC had been out. As much as I enjoyed sweating through my dinner (which the waitress did comment on ... twice), to know that other parts of the venue did have proper temperature control was frustrating. On top of this, nobody ever actually apologized for the discomfort rather commented that it was very warm. At minimum, an actually apology would have helped.
After this, the food was very average for a nice Italian restaurant. For one, the chicken marsala tasted more like a soy sauce base then marsala. Overall, the taste was nothing special and the salads were by far the best portion of the meal. The waitress was polite and very nice, though again I would think that they would work with their management to seat customers in an area that was more comfortable. The venue is very interesting, especially the back area but its not worth the cost for average food just because it's a neat old building.
Christina! Christina has been serving tables for many years. It's her life! We were so pleased to enjoy her service. She obviously enjoys what she does and takes great pride in it. Food was very good. Drinks and meal pricings make it a worthwhile destination.
Cigars? This is the place you need to visit. There's nothing else in the region like it.
The food was very good, however we didn't like where they seated us. We were in early and they sat us at the table everyone walks past coming in, and there were MANY tables open. We felt like we were disconnected to the Restruant ..out in left field. Which didnt make it very personable or cozy. Also the Restruant was VERY COLD, which made it hard to enjoy the meal.
We love everything about DiSalvo's.....its also a WONDERFUL venue for weddings....very unique,
and they treat you like family, so YOUR special event is special to THEM. Mike the manager, sees
to every detail, whether its Easter Sunday Brunch, as was this occasion, or your wedding reception, which is where my daughter and son-in-law had theirs....
DiSalvo's has great atmosphere, great service, and fabulous food!
I can't say enough good things about our experience. The food was top-notch! The serving size was more than enough at decent prices. Our server Kristie was amazing. Not one time did my glass go empty yet I didn't feel like she over visited our table to check on us. We were left to enjoy our meal, savor the moment, and still very well taken care of. I felt as though we were treated like the only guests in the restaurant. The only complaint I would have is the espresso machine was not working the night we dined and the entrance to the restaurant we walked right through some sort of party/reception. Which is sort of an odd set-up. I can say we were awe struck with the history and decor, especially the cigar bar. After dinner we visited the cigar bar for an after dinner drink, cigar, and relaxed watching the hockey game. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Great job Disalvo's! We will be back!
What a lovely place to celebrate my birthday! We found this restaurant on the recommendation of friends, and we loved it. The ambiance was excellent, the service staff, (Sarah), was friendly and informative of the menu, and the food was fabulous! We had appetizers, meals and drinks, and the food was exceptional. The portions were generous, and the price was expected for the quality. We will definitely be going back soon, and bringing family with us!!!
We were fortunate that our granddaughter purchased a gift card as a present. We had not visited this restaurant in over 20+ years, but boy were we ever glad that we were given the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful dinner! My husband can't stop talking about how great the lamb chops were. You can be sure we will be returning soon for another fine dining treat.
Limited wine menu. My wife was served a white wine in a wet wine glass. Very classless. We were told that they chill their white wine glasses. But serving it wet?? Stupid! They did however replace it with a dry glass upon request. Everything else was great.
This restaurant has a cigar bar downstairs and the smell from the smoke does make it's way to the restaurant where you eat. The bruschetta appetizer is huge! The menu is big and the food is pretty good. The fact that their location is in an old train station is what brought us there as we were looking for a nice ambiance. There was a room set up for a rehearsal dinner and that looked really nice. Overall, the dinner for four was just over $200 not counting tip. Overall, it was an ok dinner experience, probably will not be going back.
