This is an undiscovered gem of a place to have a drink after work. In the grime and grit of Market Street, this is like an oasis of cool lifted a few floors off the street as if to separate you from the reality out on the street.
Food is good but pricey. Had expectations for a view but the outdoor rooftop is surrounded on all sides by an additional 4 stories so you are in a shady well. Service was ok. Very pleasant but seemed to be inside with bar costumers mostly? That said he was very pleasant but all food was delivered by the busboy.
Bring back the shishito peppers!

Delicious food and drink. The wait staff was a bit slow, but friendly. I would definitely go back. The halibut was probably one of the best ceviches I've ever had. And yeeeeees to the drinks!!

The Gem salad was bland and not what we expected. A waiter brought the cheese plate and didn't explain the options (we had to call our real waiter back to explain. Other than that, it was good.

Cocktails were great but everything else was pretty disappointing. Food was pretty subpar, bland and the portions were extremely small, especially the appetizers.
Food arrived 45 minutes after ordering and also all at once, appetizers and entrees together. Naturally things got cold before they could be eaten because all at once.
Also, despite reserving outdoor seating they refused to seat us outside on account of too many reservations. Sure enough we could see there were open seats outside our entire time there.
All around a pretty poor experience. A special occasion that wasn’t.

The cocktail drinks are great but would I dine here again? No, thank you. The happy hour menu items sound appetizing but the actual dishes are unpalatable.
With so many good choices in San Francisco, one would rather dine elsewhere and only, if a must, come here for drinks.
Group of girls out for dinner in San Fran for a friends bachelorette. Arrival was fine and drinks were good. Food came and several dishes were extremely salty. To the point that we could not eat them. Sent them back and our server, Anthony, did not know how to deal with this appropriately. He started to ignore our table and all interactions after we’re horrible. Would never recommend this place. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Then to top it off because we were a large group they automatically charge 20% gratuity even though 0% was deserved. We left and went to another restaurant because half of us were starving.
This is not a cheap place to grab drinks or eat. For the price, the service should be much better! They served our drinks to the table next to us. We saw this happen, we saw the server take it back to the bar, and we were served that same drink already poured from when they served it to the wrong table! That's not ok. This happened with our food as well. We had to catch them every time to let them know that was our order. Then, they would clear our plates when we still had food left on them. Not ok!
Also, gratuity was automatically included, yet there was no notice of this automatic payment. I would assume because they know their service is terrible and un-deserving of a tip. Their drinks were delicious, but I would not go here again just based off the poor service.
Would have been better if we would have known you need to request outside seating in advance. Food was good. Service was good. Just thought it should have been disclosed when we booked our table.
I like Dirty Habit for its ambience and cocktails. I like the chicken wings, the rest of the food is average. I would also recommend Shishito peppers. I like the Patio but it is often closed for private events. Check with staff. The wait staff is not as attentive as you would expect at a restaurant/bar like this, but I don't mind calling for attention when needed. Overall, a nice place for a date or meeting up a friend.

Excellent food. Whiskey cocktails were outstanding. I had ordered a crab taco which was to die for!! My daughter had taken a prawn dish was beautifully served and a dessert which as per her was mouth watering.
Wine is too expensive esp by glass- don’t bother ordering it. Overall, an outstanding dining experience albeit on the expensive side.

The drinks are fine. We asked the server for a recommendation for a third small plate to add to the mushroom dumplings and squid with black hummus. Per her recommendation, we ordered the prawns. Two prawns should not cost $18. It's a pretty space, but there are better options in downtown SF.
Made a reservation to enjoy a drink n bite outdoors with nice weather, but sat us inside a dark empty room with tables. Asked to be moved, they said they were busy, with 5 tables open. Left after 1 beer.
This place is down hill. We were one of 3 tables there. I was embarrassed for booking it. Service was horrid and the took a late night reservation and didn’t tell us we had 45 min to order everything. Horrid.
Dirty Habit is conveniently located at 4th & Market, yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed our cocktails and food on the patio. Angel, our server, was helpful & pleasant. We'll definitely come back.
With all of the options available in San Francisco, you can skip this one. Dirty Habit is dark on the inside and perhaps a bit worn and dirty. The outside dining option is a nice one, if you can access it. Despite reservations, we were put inside only to watch others without a reservation be seated outside. The food is uninspiring and limited. I can't imagine anyone making this place a "habit."
the outside seating area is very nice, we had 2 dishes and 3 bottles and price was quite reasonable. the only issue is the server was always pouring too much wine.
They completely ignored a note on the reservation which was for a birthday, and did not so much as mention it, much less do anything for it. Quite disappointing for all involved.
The setting is nice and depending where you are, variable noise. But the food was just so so. Tried two apps and one entree and we were very underwhelmed.
Very hip spot, loved the outside seating which is nestled in between buildings and shuts the cold out. I would definitely come again!
My niece and I are from out of town, she from Seattle and me from Sacramento. I was staying at Hotel Zelos and we decided to stay in and dine at Dirty Habit. I checked the menu online and was looking forward to the pork chop but it was no longer on the menu. So, I ordered the beet salad and the DH burger. Delicious! My niece doesn't eat meat and ordered the Sweet Potato Gnocchi. She loved it! She even posted pictures of it on Facebook. We asked about dessert and it seemed there was no non-dairy option so I asked about the flan and whether it was Mexican style with a caramel/cinnamon sauce. I was told yes, and ordered it. When it came it passion fruit, complete with seeds, all over it. The server was very understanding and took it back and removed it from my bill. Both of us would recommend "Dirty Habit" to others. Thanks for a great experience.
We had a reservation for a high top table...yet we got seated squished in between two large groups at a cramped low table. Which proved making the reservation was pointless. Server took 10 minutes before she came over to acknowledge us. She was not personable or professional. She dropped the drinks off without saying a word to us, and we had to ask for our 2nd drink as she did not check on us when our glasses were empty.
The atmosphere is really cool, details, dim lighting, barn door it cool. Service was poor and I guess we shouldn't have bothered to make a reservation because it wasn't upheld anyways. I felt I was being ripped off by having to tip for such an awful server. A tip should be earned, not expected.
Lot's of fun, it was honestly amaze-balls! I was a little drunk when I got there, but my food was really good.

Dirty habit’s food was great 2 years ago, I don’t know if the kitchen had an off day, but it wasn’t the quality I remembered.
The ambiance is great, especially on a sunny day on the patio. Be mindful when you drink wines instead of cocktails, bottles start at $70 and quickly go up in price.

I organized a 40th birthday dinner for 8 people at Dirty Habit. It has a very cool vibe, love the decor and lighting. Would have been a great experience except that they have a rather small menu and ran out of 3 of the items we ordered (gnocci, sea bass, hazelnut ice cream). If I was the manager, I would have sent something out, like a bottle of bubbly, or taken the dessert off the bill, as a gesture of some kind to acknowledge the issue. A few too many disappointments for one evening. However, if you're thinking of going, try it. We might have had an off night.
We stumbled upon Dirty Habit during the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and our bartender Daniel was great. He made great drinks, offered up recommendations and was very conversational. We had a nice evening.
