Dirty Habit Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed the ambiance and the food was prepared well, although the menu was limited and did not accurately reflect items that were on the menu online. The service, however, was awful. Our server was in such a rush to leave our table that she often left while I was mid sentence. Plates were slammed down on the table each time, glassware was shoved around and nothing was placed in a way that we could share the items, even though they are supposed to be sharing plates. Everyone just seemed very rushed and uninterested in speaking to us or even taking our order. At the end of the meal (approx 10pm) the server began setting all of the tables in the restaurant in a very frantic and loud manner, throwing plates and silverware down in apparent effort to leave ASAP. We didn’t feel comfortable ordering dessert because she seemed so aggressive and ready to leave. The service really took away from the experience and I left feeling agitated and annoyed, despite having an otherwise lovely meal.
Went to Dirty Habit for drinks. One of us ordered an old fashioned and didn’t recognize the drink. Other ordered a martini and sent it back because it was too heavy on vermouth. On another occasion I ordered a Black Russian and was served something with coke in it. Sent it back. Dirty Hanit doesn’t specialize in classic drinks. More of a hang out for young people.
I found this place online and decided to go here for my friends bachelorette party based on other reviews. The ambiance of the restaurant, inside and the outdoor patio, was warm and special feeling. Everyone was impressed and I was definitely happy I chose this as our spot for dinner, the tapas style food was perfect for a group and the drinks were incredible. I'd come here for a special date night or even with a big group, they seem to be very accommodating.
First, it was the hardest thing to make resv for my size party.
On open table it only allows you to make reservations online for 12 or less people.
So anything more you would have to call or email.
Tried for a few weeks and still nothing.
I only tried so hard because it worked with the plans I had after dinner.
Finally got through and told there was a min of $50 per person with groups 5 or more.
This place has so many rules.
Then they don't even let you know if you reached your min.
Guess they just want you to pay the diff with nothing in return.
So we asked, and the way the waitress and host handled it was embarrassing.
Then to top it off, they're closing gates and doors on us.
Rude people and don't care to give good customer service.
The food wasn't even that great, which made it worse.
NEVER GOING BACK!!!
As with any restaurant service, a lot depends on your particular Server. Aside from our Server being inattentive; she never recognized my food didn't arrived until I pointed it out to her; although she walked by our table at least 5 times. It may be each Server is assigned too many tables to offer appropriate food service.
Way overrated. Looked cool in photos but actually is this kinda plain open air area in what seems to be a condo building. I thought it was a rooftop with a view. Nope. Food was decent, service was terrible. Nice but so slow. And again, it's not a cool sleek space. Those are hard to find in SF!
Okay so apparently this restaurant is famous for its outdoor dining scene. But upon arrival we were informed outside seating would be an additional 45 min wait. We therefore elected to have dinner inside which does not particularly sets this restaurant apart.
Service also felt short. Plates were almost thrown onto the table, everything felt rushed and waitress did not show an ounce of passion for her work.
Food however was excellent, especially the duck. We shared several small plates and everything tasted really good.
We'll have to try again when outside seating is not as busy...
I love this venue. The food is fantastic. Tapas style. The drinks are nice. Plenty of wine options, great cocktails, and the draft beers are very nice. The atmosphere is amazing. The ambiance in the outdoor area is unique. It feels as if you are not in San Francisco, but on vacation somewhere. Highly recommended.
This place was so perfect for celebrating a birthday! The music was at a pleasant noise level-- and we sat below the speaker. The ambiance was so nice chill and low key but sophisticated and civilized. We had the pleasure of having Jeff as our server. He was so awesome ! He made recommendations that were spot on and we couldn't have been more happy with the whole experience! The drinks were heavenly and the food was perfect sizes- the 3 crab dumplings, 6 oysters, crudo, the 1 piece of seared duck and the yummy pot de Creme for dessert was perfect for us! Thank you!!!! We will be back for Halloween wknd!
Dirty Habit captures he essence of everything so many restaurants aspire to be these days. There are few words that can describe this essence in purity of form, however. Everything about my experience at Dirty Habit was obviously crafted to magnify the sometimes fleeting nature of these qualities. The service, the ambiance, the decor, and so on all somehow coalesced into an experience that I won't soon forget. It all starts with making a reservation, interacting with staff, asking for those special details, and seeing how they are implemented. After considering how these elements are manifest in experience, the only words available to describe Dirty Habit are "Premium-Mediocre".
Like avocado toast, the finest wine at Chili's, or truffle oil on your french-fries, Dirty Habit takes the dining experience that faux-fancy people thing real fancy looks like, and distills it down to an overly-industrialized conveyer-belt experience to line the patrons at the tables like a pig-trough.
An evening at Dirty Habit will likely leave your stomach full, but both your spirit and your wallet lighter, as you contemplate the supreme mediocrity of your over-presented meal, and the phenomenal apathy the staff have to your enjoyment of your visit. There are certainly few ways to maximize your self-loathing than to trade your labor and resources to see it matched by the staff.
People talk about the bubble of silicon valley, and how much San Francisco has changed, but nowhere exemplifies the new order of our beloved collective bubble on the magnitude of Dirty Habit.
