You will never have a bad meal at Dirty French, the food is exceptional. The service is impeccable and our guests couldn't have been any happier!
Let me begin by saying I realized as I entered that we had been a few years ago after I read an article about the necessity to go for lunch and have the croque monsieur and the burger. We haven’t been back.
We got the chicken and crepes and the oysters. We also got the tuna tartare which comes rolled up in a large crepe/dosa.
Back to the oysters for a moment. When you sit down and absorb the menu it looks fairly typical and then you wonder, “where are the escargot?” They are hiding under the oysters. Not literally but everything you want is there including the subtle seafood flavor without the chewiness of the snails. The crusty bread, the butter, the garlic, and parsley. And with the service on large oysters shells there is so much MORE than you ever get with escargot.
The chicken and crepes is served on two dishes - white meat and dark meat. The breasts are served in cream sauce with morels (a seasonal addition) and sliced so that they can be wrapped and enjoyed in crepes. The dark meat comes confit in rolls that have been fried and are the opposite of sublime.
The 3 dishes were more than enough food and made an amazing impact.
But being full did not stop us from ordering the tatin.
Service great. Bagel
And salmon rather flavourless sadly
The service was great, the people very friendly and chill. I love the restaurant--it's so pretty, warmly lit, but the atmosphere manages to also be just as inviting, and not stuffy and stiff. The food is always impeccable. Very rich, very flavorful.
This place never disappoints; one of the finest dining experiences you can get in NYC. Best food and cocktails, worth the splurge.
We love DF and don't get here often enough. Delicious food, efficient & attentive wait staff. Highly recommend.
The food was good but the service was atrocious. We waited nearly an hour between entree and dinner. The place was hip but so loud we had to shout at each other to be heard. I don’t recommend.
We had the most perfect brunch thanks to our server, the ambiance and the incredible food. Each dish was better than the next. We couldn’t have asked for more!
The food took forever!
This place is best suited for groups of four or more. It is lively and loud, and the food is excellent but portioned more for sharing than for a traditional appetizer-entree individual meal.
Food was excellent and vibe was great as usual. But our server was a dud. Way too stiff, no good recommendations, never smiled.
How can this restaurant get any better?! We were served complimentary champaigne because we had completed the Five Borough Bike Ride! The service was excellent. The food delicious and the ambiance extraordinary! It is always a treat to dine here. Please keep up the good work.
Great meal. Friendly staff. My wife and I loved it as usual.
Cocktails and oysters were fantastic, ambience is very nice and service very friendly. There for lunch - was very quiet and perhaps food quality not quite par to dinner ratings. Brioche with burger too dry for price point & croque monsieur good but salty. Overall good but was hoping it was a fantastic! Next time in nyc will try dinner
Poorly made food. Average service. We were disappointed as this place had been recommended.
Was seated 45 minutes late to a 915pm birthday dinner reservation on Saturday night. I find that completely unacceptable. No drinks were comped and the delay wasn't acknowledged with more than a passing "sorry"
Birthday dinner - had the tuna tartare as appetizer was very good. The duck was delicious and had crispy skin. The scallops came with delicious sauce and is balanced very well.
Fantastic service and food! 🥂❤️ Champagne on the house after a long day comming from Norway ✈️🥰
Wine perfect ✔️
Food tasty ✔️
Seating at time ✔️
Date amazing ❤️✔️
The atmosphere is men’s club but nice and the service was lovely. We had a lovely experience and were treated royally by the staff including a champagne toast for our anniversary. Thank you very much. Our food was exquisitely prepared and tasted equally delightful. I don’t think it’s a very romantic restaurant but it was a totally wonderful experience and be sure to order the outrageous beignets for dessert. I would certainly go back but have to build up the bank account first.
Duck hash was non existent. It was a fried egg with an over abundance potatoes with a few scrapes of what was presented as duck hash. We had to search the dish to locate the “duck”. But no luck.
Burgers were merely diner average and at an irrational price.
Glass of house bubbly was $17.00 plus tax.
Salads and oysters were good.
Service was good.
Ambiance was noisy with a poor trio attempting to play music. However, it was good Sunday brunch atmosphere.
If you order the hamburger unless you like it raw and I mean raw. Let them know. The waiter told me that’s how they are cooked. I said I’m sorry but I cannot eat this please put back on grill. Well I’m not sure but I think it was just microwaved. And was still not done. The steak was tough and fries were ok
Love this place. The spicy pork is to die for!
Everything was great. The chicken crepes were delicious. Professional and accommodating. Great vibe.
Never disappoints! Food, music, ambiance and great service!
Very lackluster and angering experience. The service was non-existent, the room was not even 1/2 full - and the food, was BAD. Steak was barely edible and my friend had to return her pork chop as it tasted like they poured a bottle of liquid smoke on top. When she asked to send it back, instead of an apology, the waiter gave an audible harrumph and eyeroll. The waiter rarely came by to see what we needed, had to ask twice for our wine, water glasses remained empty for 1/2 hour and were basically ignored the whole time. It's quite audacious for a restaurant with such original hype to be riding on past laurels. Would not recommend to anyone unless they just wanted to have a drink in the cozy lounge.
Great service, good food, great ambiance.
Food, service and experience were excellent again. A little loud and definitely worth it !
Service was impeccable but relaxed (-not ordinary). Easy recommend.
Love Dirty French ❤️
Dined two nights in a row. Once at a table once at the bar. Staff are super nice! Waitress was a delight and a pro. Kitchen is on point food wise but found themselves in the weeds on Saturday tho. Food at the bar took a while to come out but bartender comped us 2 glasses of wine on the house, our choice. French brasserie fare with a Moroccan flair(ras-al-hanout duck). Restaurant was packed and very loud. Everyone having a great time at this happening spot. No complaints really. Door does a good job seating walk-ins too. Somm decanted our wine at his suggestion, I appreciated that very much.
Delicious food and great service! Would recommend the duck for a main.
Trendy and somewhat pricey. Pork was amazing, same with grilled oysters. Black bass was good but not overly impressive. Waiter totally unsold a glass of wine and gave us. $25 glass w/o mentioning price, a little lame. Nice setting and vibe. Service was amazing until dessert. Waited a LONG time for the check which was super annoying.
Slow inattentive service.
Service was amazing - some of the best I experienced while visiting NY. Complimentary and extremely tasty pastries that come along with your brunch order. These tipped me over the edge as the portion sixze of main course was huge. But it was so incredibly tasty I managed it. Beautiful restaurant decor, lovely staff and a great vibe. A must do for Brunch in NY... with a drink in the cosy lobby bar after. Just wish I had stayed here while in NY
Waiter was great, very attentive and accommodating. Bartender as well. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Service was lacking
The dining experience was made even better by our waitress Pamela.
Good service. Food is ok. Nothing special. Have a nice small hidden bar inside the RESTARAUNT.
