We had a great time. It was my visiting sisters birthday. You could not ask for a better experience.
The front door hosts were amazing as was the ambience and the food. One of the best meals I'd had. Unfortunately, our server was luke warm and distant at best.
Food and service is the best. Great ambiance and decor. The lounge is pretty neat as well
My cousins and I were very excited to try this spot, as it came with good recommendations. However, the entire experience was less than palatable. My group had the displeasure of attending this restaurant last week as a post-birthday celebration of sorts and we were all disappointed. The discontent started at the outset of the evening when although all 3 of our party had arrived for our 7:30 pm reservation in advance of the 7:45 pm cutoff, we were told to stay by the bar until our table was ready. We didn't think much of it, but as the bar cleared out and everyone else was seated, we were left as the only people of color (PoC) at the bar and in the restaurant for that matter. After 45 mins, now at 8:15 pm, I inquired why we had not yet been seated, and the manager Jeffrey responded: "oh, we sat a 7:45 pm reservation, as they were here." To which I replied, "my group has been here since before 7:45 for our reservation with two of us here before 7:30 pm and were told to sit at the bar." He had no response, to which I inquired, "is this typically how you treat PoC at this establishment since we were the only ones that had to wait it was hard to see past us being singled out. We then still waited another 15mins to be seated, so all in all we waited an hour as we were not seated until 8:30pm. The food was palatable, but took way too long to arrive at our table and was not wowing by any means, so I'd stay away from this place. Their staff does nothing to accommodate its patrons, especially People of color and when in the wrong, so that plus their snobby attitude - I'll stick to other places like Bagatelle, or Le Bilboquet.
Amazing food and service
Great bistro environment. The wait staff was very friendly and efficient. The wine list had many reasonably priced selections. We had the beet salad, trout and black bass. Everything was excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly. This place is a keeper!
Awesome and consistent.
Food was perfection and the service was enthusiastic and attentive. While a bit pricey for a regular outing it was a lovely evening all around, we'll be back!
Best on an expense account or to splurge on vacation. Very pricey. Staff was great and accommodating.
The service was terrible. We got a free cocktail to try and soften this, but not really helpful when you wait an hour and a half for any food....
Great meal. Our waiter was exceptional, his advise was spot on. The Maitre D couldn't have been nicer. Am overall great experience. Thanks.
Food was delicious. Server seemed annoyed.
The best waiter and really chic spot. French fries do die for.
The most aggressive pouring of bottled water anyone had ever experienced; constantly filling to the rim; full glasses and two bottle left on table at end of dinner- it was laughable
One and done-we could have floated a boat
Salads good, entrees mediocre-go to lounge of hotel for drinks and eat elsewhere
Great live music and a very leisurely brunch with attentive and friendly service. Very enjoyable.
This was my second visit to Dirty French and I continue to be amazed by the food and service. We enjoyed an appetizer of peeled, marinated cherry tomatoes in olive oil. Sounds so simple but it was amazing. I had the black sea bass which was prepared so that the skin was nice and crispy and the broth was creamy and seasoned with roasted shallots. My husband had a delicious sirloin steak. We had the chocolate cheesecake with banana ice cream. Yum. Our waiter was super fun and knowledgeable.
Kevin and Richar were exceptional. Delicious food , nice ambiance, great service , and overall would recommend.
One of the best eating experience in NYC!
The waiter was inattentive to a fault, but the food was good and the atmosphere with live music was very nice. Just don't expect it to be a quick meal if you get the same waiter we had.
Our server was awesome!
I have been to Dirty French many times and had a good experience. However, the service this time was slack and disorganized.
Ok food, bad service, not worth the hype or price.
Everything we ate here was awesome. Duck was particularly great. Pricey but worth it. Would come back!
While a beautiful space, I don't think the food warranted the hefty price tag. The service was adequate, while attentive and very nice, our server didn't know as much about the wines and food as he thought he did. Would return only for appetizers and dessert, not for a full meal.
Having the check delivered to the table before it is asked for is unacceptable.
The dinner was great. We went to the back for drinks. The two women back there could not have been ruder. It wasn’t crowded either so I’m not sure what their issue was. I had a friend in town and I was really embarrassed.
Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in New York. Amazing food and service and a wine list that (while pricey) has a long and robust selection of French wines. Menu prices not for everyone (it is an expensive restaurant) and be prepared to spend accordingly. At least you get what you pay for.
We had dinner at Dirty French three times - out of three visits first was outstanding, second was good and third was so-so.
You will never have a bad meal at Dirty French, the food is exceptional. The service is impeccable and our guests couldn't have been any happier!
We had a great time. The food, the service, the fun vibe was amazing! Our friends visiting New York for the weekend really enjoyed it!!!
Let me begin by saying I realized as I entered that we had been a few years ago after I read an article about the necessity to go for lunch and have the croque monsieur and the burger. We haven’t been back.
We got the chicken and crepes and the oysters. We also got the tuna tartare which comes rolled up in a large crepe/dosa.
Back to the oysters for a moment. When you sit down and absorb the menu it looks fairly typical and then you wonder, “where are the escargot?” They are hiding under the oysters. Not literally but everything you want is there including the subtle seafood flavor without the chewiness of the snails. The crusty bread, the butter, the garlic, and parsley. And with the service on large oysters shells there is so much MORE than you ever get with escargot.
The chicken and crepes is served on two dishes - white meat and dark meat. The breasts are served in cream sauce with morels (a seasonal addition) and sliced so that they can be wrapped and enjoyed in crepes. The dark meat comes confit in rolls that have been fried and are the opposite of sublime.
The 3 dishes were more than enough food and made an amazing impact.
But being full did not stop us from ordering the tatin.
Service great. Bagel
And salmon rather flavourless sadly
The service was great, the people very friendly and chill. I love the restaurant--it's so pretty, warmly lit, but the atmosphere manages to also be just as inviting, and not stuffy and stiff. The food is always impeccable. Very rich, very flavorful.
This place never disappoints; one of the finest dining experiences you can get in NYC. Best food and cocktails, worth the splurge.
We love DF and don't get here often enough. Delicious food, efficient & attentive wait staff. Highly recommend.
The food was good but the service was atrocious. We waited nearly an hour between entree and dinner. The place was hip but so loud we had to shout at each other to be heard. I don’t recommend.
We had the most perfect brunch thanks to our server, the ambiance and the incredible food. Each dish was better than the next. We couldn’t have asked for more!
The food took forever!
